    I made this bikini top today. I used a serger and followed this tutorial. It turned out great! So comfortable. I can't wait to swim in it. Thank you so much for the free pattern!

    Always love to see you do the invisible seams 😍. I am a bit doubting wether the band will give enough support. I am a C/D cup and I think I would make the band way wider like 4-5 cm. Looks cute!

    Me sorprendió la forma en que lo haces. Me gusto mucho. Las terminaciones parecieran no notarse. Lo intentare y espero que me quede igual de prolijo que el tuyo. Saludos desde Argentina.

    Sandwiching the straps looks like a great idea. Then it ensures that the straps stay in place as opposed to sewing on top of the inside or outside.

    What is the best stitch length and width for a zig zag stitch? Sometimes I feel it’s too loose and I get afraid of it falling apart in the wash!

    • @EdgewaterAve
      @EdgewaterAve  4 роки тому +1

      Length should be on the shorter side so that it can stretch better! And width is up to personal preference I think, I personally like a taller stitch since I think it's easier to work with!

    Planning on making this as my very first handmade bikini. Not sure about what size to make though. I'm a 70D/32D. For the top, should I make a size M for the front piece with a size S for the back piece? I don't want the bikini to be too wide, which usually is the case.

    Hey Katie I've been having trouble with this top not fitting correctly, the waist is really big and the bust is really small and when its finished the waist seems to turn out wavy, my serger tension is all set to 3 and I serge first then serge on the elastic like yours and I'm not pulling any tension in the elastic while sewing, any advice is helpful thank you!!

    I see that there is a 1/4 inch seam allowance. My serger is a new toy, and the guides are for a 5/8 inch allowance. I’m not sure how to get a 1/4 in seam.....any advice? And do you keep the cutting blade up or down with the elastic?

    Anyone else struggling with sewing on the elastic with a normal sewing machine? Mines just bunching up and not handling it well. ANY tips are helpful!! Thank you!!

    • @VillyT
      @VillyT 4 роки тому +1

      I find that pulling the sewn part helps with the bunching. Not roughly, more of a 'guide it away' kind of pulling. I use a normal machine too and put as little pressure on the electric foot as possible so I will sew VERY slowly and that helps me too. If all else fails, you can hand stitch the elastic (which is what I used to do before getting a machine). Hope any of this helps you!
