Lyrics
Hangin' out with Lars down on 6th street
He knew I was in trouble
I was feeling much like the devil
There was something burnin' deep inside of me
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
These girls took us to the fun house
Where we played a lonely pinball machine
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of them seem to be goin' my way
New York City well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia
I'm having a hard time understanding
It gets all too demanding
She's all gone and I'm stranded
Something burning deep inside of me
All I know it's four o'clock and
She ain't never showed up
And I watched a thousand people go home from work
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of them seem to be goin' my way
New York City well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia
How many times will it take me
Before I go crazy
Before I lose everything
Something burning deep inside of me
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
Those girls took us to the fun house
I don't want to be alone again
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of 'em seem to go my way
New York City, well I wish I was on a highway
Back to Olympia
Rancid played Stanford last summer and I only stayed long enough to hear their version of a Molly Tuttle song
Rancid's' "Tim Armstrong wrote it."
haha
Only it wasn't Molly's song.
She was covering Rancid's original.
That a bluegrass artist would cover a punk tune is what I love about it most, apart from where Molly totally made it her own.
You are incredible❤
RESPECT
Molly also has a video with Sierra Hull performing this song!
Molly to me you just get better every time I listen to you. I love this Washington song. Beautiful music you make. Jim Rio Vista, CA
So talented. Please come to the U.K. so we can see you
Forgot about this song as well, glad this came up on my playlist. It was a beautiful cover.
Awesome song Molly, love it! Some mean picking!
super awesome
Not only did you play the song well i think you even brought out the emotions behind the songs, as hearing yiur rendition made me feel the same way the original version did
Top Molly!!!!
raw talent!
Anjayyyyy...beautifull👍👍
This video displays all of Molly Tuttle’s special skills. It’s not just the voice and flat picking (the latter beyond superb in the solo), which you would expect. It’s also about her ears picking up the potential in less well known songs and recreating them for a new audience. And it’s also about her right hand. We think of this with her flat picking of course, but the strumming is just as virtuosic in the solo, and it is also thoroughly musical as the rhythm section here. Chords are easy in this song. Try to do what she does with her right hand when she is singing. An overall masterclass here in Molly Tuttle…
I've listened to the Tuttle and Rancid versions. The reason Tuttle's is better is that you can actually hear the music and lyrics to the song. But Kudos to Rancid for writing the song.
Heavily disagree. Her's is technically really good but doesn't capture the true feeling behind the song.
@@shamanllamaI disagree I still like rancid version better but bialas a rancid fan but molly rendition made me feel the way listening to the original does
You are incredible❤
