It’s like if Arthur Conan Doyle had Sherlock and Watson harass the reader because they keep buying the stories that put their lives in danger.
I played the first two games, watched a playthrough of the shooter, and played 3 up to around the big twist. Honestly, one is fine, two is weird, three is just too edgy for me.
Also, the games keep killing the people I actually like, and I want the detective girl to marry me.

@@garrisonsides It's a dark anime-themed murder mystery game. The 3 mainline games (in order) are Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. Those are the main games, but there's a spinoff that's more of a 3rd person shooter instead of a story-based game, called Ultra Despair Girls, and if you do decide to play that then you should play it AFTER Danganronpa 2 because it has spoilers for that game.
TLDR: Dark, kinda graphic anime murder mystery with lots of killing
@@garrisonsideshere is also an anime you got to watch and read some mangas and or summaries of novels if you want to fill in certain plot holes like what is the actual tragedy They talked about the whole 4 games. @@carrotcommunist9216 I honestly loved it. It gives you so much to think about and it is imo one of the best endings to a long running franchise I have ever seen
@@elbonais683 SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYBODY THAT HAS NOT PLAYED DANGANRONPA V3
I see why you could like it. If it was something else, then yeah, I would think that it was a spectacular ending. It did communicate a good message too, that the series would eventually get stale if people keep wanting more entries. However the way the executed it was atrocious in my opinion. It was so lazy from a creative perspective with everything else that happened building up to nothing and it kills any enjoyment on a replay through as the story ultimately amounts to nothing and was not a fitting ending to the series
@@carrotcommunist9216 It is the culmination of everything, in a way. The V3 cast, meta-lore wise, are related to the hope's peak arc. Through the effort of everyone in the franchisen they managed to realize it was fake and put an end to it.
I also have my doubts about how true everethyng being fiction is, and the team definitelt hinted that something is way off. For starters, if there are no ultimates, how did the ultimate cosplayer, the mastermind, manage to cosplay so perfectly that she could completely swap her appearance and voice in mere seconds?
But what didn't you like about the execution? To me, it seemed like a love letter to the dedicated fanbase, who became invested even though they knew if was ficticious since the very beginning
What I didn't like is how meaningless it made everything feel by saying it was all written up and nothing that anyone did mattered anyways as it was what they were written to do. However, it IS up to debate whether all of that was true. I really don't like how "up to interpretation" so much of it is. I don't mind something being up to interpretation but this is way too much. It's sort of like the writers being too scared to actually put in a definitive answer so they made it vague as to whether it was all true or not because they feared backlash.
But admittedly the way you put it actually makes it sound a lot better than I initially took it for. I guess it isn't as atrocious as I initially thought. I dunno, I'll actually have to finish it with my cousin next time I see him
Well how were the games? Go on… tell them Naegi

Broo you didn't like it? I thought it was hella dope
As a fan of Danganronpa I always flinch when people say they're playing it the first time. Like get out while you still can

@@fictionfan0 See you wanna know what the weird thing is, technically they're NOT kids until the third game or some shit
I dunno I hate Kodaka
@@fictionfan0 imo I thought thay was what lead to a very interesting and emotional story. It isn't as edgy as it might initially seem. It is pretty brutal, but it is more of a device to tell the story rather than a horro movie/mortal kombat-like mindless violence
@@laggy3099Dumb take, Kodaka is great. If you hate Kodaka, then you're definitely not a fan of Danganronpa

good god the essay i could write about fixing danganronpa. i wish so much that it wasn't Like That because it COULD have been actually good
No bc fr, there's some good aspects to the games and they definitely kick started the "killing game" genre but good god has some of the things put in them not aged well (ESPECIALLY THE CHIHIRO PART) and not to mention how weird the game is to most of the female characters despite them being in highschool.
@@captainspaceboy it unfortunately suffers from being high on the Weeb/Ass/Shit scale, and YEAH. good god the handling of some of the female characters (Mikan esp) is just. Gross. it's just nasty gay crap. Weird ass fans bro i swear
Good character designs and art style makes it excessively easy for fans to make smut of unironic higher quality than the media itself in cases like this, just ask the Overwatch community or numerous other examples.
I loved them (well, the first two), and my sister can't get enough of 'em. To the point that, even after V3 called you a terrible person for enjoying the series and conclusively finished it off with no room for a sequel, she went and started playing every fangame under the sun.
Yeah the ending sucked, but the board game/rpg side mode it unlocked made up for it tremendously
@@ignitedrowlets5776 Actually, the ending was my favorite part of Dangan V3.
@@fishactivation5087 agreed, although I have no idea what they were going on about post-credits.
It doesn’t call you a bad person for enjoying the series, it praises the players who got invested in it and took it seriously. The whole point of the ending is that the fiction is beautiful, and anyone who shits on another person for getting invested in characters in a piece of media misses the whole point of fiction.
It’s there exactly to be invested in, it’s there to get you to experience things that you wouldn’t IRL.(thank fucking God I won’t experience Danganronpa IRL) it’s there to make you feel for the characters and get you attached to them. Anybody dismissing fiction because it’s “not real” misses the whole point. That’s why the mastermind of V3 is the villain of the story - they never treated these characters as people and treated everything like a game, instead of the life-or-death situation that it was for the other characters. And the protagonist shits on them relentlessly for that approach.
It may seem like a shot at the fanbase, but it really isn’t - that part of the ending is there to call out people who don’t get attached to anyone, who don’t try to connect to the world of this series and treat it like a joke, which is what the fictional fanbase of V3 talking about waifus and shit was supposed to represent. Well, that and the oversaturation of franchises that go on for too long to the point where people who watch it don’t even care about what’s going on even as the once beloved piece of media jumps the shark.
It’s not really about the actual IRL Danganronpa fanbase, since the actual IRL series DIDN’T jump the shark and instead the creator decided to end it instead of making it a vapid unending franchise with 53 instalments or something.
Kodaka might’ve handled it weirdly, but the point is really interesting and important, and is so much better than the endings of THH and SDR2.
@@dunadan1995 At first, i thought your points on the Ending were just delusional, but when you said it was better than THH and GD, then i just knew that you were straight up stupid.
