Everytime i see one of these, the first thing that comes to mind is: "Even in death I still serve." "It is better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself." I cant be the only one.
I really wish this came with a second Claw... I have a thing about Symmetry that makes me buggy when it comes to Gunpla, but I could forgive not having a matching set of hands if it came with two of those awesome Claws.
currently working this kit to be entered on a local in-house event coming this March :D loved the looks & the articulations to add more + spotted only one seam line (backpack)
The shield is orange. Just checked out the episode two trailer. It does look dark though because the testing was done at night and the shield is shown to the side out of the spot light but when it comes into the light is clearly orange.
I think the wires coming out is quite anime accurate with how during ramba ral and mash’s test duel the wires came off and got ripped out of their port during the fight from the simplest of punches XD
This is probably the only Origin series kit that i didn't liked as much as the rest but your review helped me decide to get it specially for the extra effects that we can add. It justs screams "leave me all dirty".
Excellent video.Just got this from Hobbylink myself. I'm planning to add repair patches and heavy weathering. Those large flat surfaces are just begging for some kind of extra detail.I'll be interested to see what you do with yours.
it'd be nice to see an original YMS-04 Zudah to be released alongside the Zaku I to show the mobile suit trials between Zinmad and Zeonic corporations. Also, the word you were looking for is String for the tow cables. Or, if you want to spend the time, strip the wire out of a long twist tie.
+superzorro5 I was thinking of the Zudah as well. since they're doing the proto zaku it just makes more sense to show the development phase along side the Zudah.
After looking at this review, I might just have to add this kit to my wish list. I'm already brainstorming some ideas for this mobile suit. For me, the only part that just doesn't give me a good vibe is the head. Now, I haven't seen the anime but just by looking at this mobile suit. There is no need to have the head there since the pilot of this machine has a clear line of sight in that cockpit. If the head serves as the housing for cameras, the designers could have incorporated the cameras elsewhere. Well, this kit is a good canvas for scratch building and super-detailing.
It is the left hand that bothers me. If this is a construction Mobile Worker, wouldn't I want two of the right hand claws to grasp large construction material like I-beams or clusters of piping? I would like to think by this point in the Universal Century the hand articulation isn't nearly as articulate as later MS series. (my best guess is this model is repurposed for combat since it comes with a shield). I guess I'll just buy two of them for a Diorama if I can attach a second claw to the left. But then I don''t know what do with the second one (wish I could buy extra claws).
They called it 'Mobile Worker' as a smokescreen, though it's descendants were actually used as mobile workers. What this thing actually is, is the world's first attempt at a proper, honest-to-goodness Mobile Suit. The Waff, of course, being the ACTUAL first Mobile Suit.
Plastic model cement works by dissolving plastic. It cannot break down rubber, so it won't bond to the plastic. You'd need a glue that bonds rubber to other materials.
Regular Testers glue will hold those cables in place. I don't see Tamiya's cement doing the job at all. Kit looks good but I like the red colour on the box much better than this orange. Hope you paint this one and add some aftermarket goodies for some "bling". Clear coat can still be used over those black and yellow stripes sealing them in forever.
A drop of PVA on the ends of the hoses is enough to hold them in place. I really takes weathering well. All I did was repaint the dark grey runner with Aluminium and weathered, the whole project took just over a week at an hour a day at most.

Nice design for some rusting, streaking and chipping 😁
6:28 string...
that prototype gouf was my first ever model kit
12:02 i guess you could call that the Grappler Gouf.
You're actually a English teacher? Wow
Actually it's, "...AN English teacher..."
@@jondoe5836 Don't you mean "... an ..."
@@greylegion1368 Cut me some slack, not like I'm an English teacher. Haha!
@@jondoe5836 I only came for the joke no hard feelings? [My grammar and spelling is god awefull.]
@@greylegion1368 Don't worry about it
for some reason, this kit remind me of Met and a boss from Rockman 1. I am really hyped to work on this kit
I really wish this came with a second Claw...

Donald Witt you could get two if it matters that much

Kind of love the head and arms, but there are two kits I think those fit for.
The head look like hockey mask like Casey jones in TMNT.
I keep considering grabbing one of these to kitbash with a Leo to make a Mars Century salvage retrofit for the Leo
Okay, I was doubting but I'm getting it. And I'll practise some chipping and weathering, just a little bit.
String, or cord maybe? Interesting kit. Glad this is the readily available one, as orange is more of a construction color.
The shield is orange. Just checked out the episode two trailer. It does look dark though because the testing was done at night and the shield is shown to the side out of the spot light but when it comes into the light is clearly orange.
This will be in my wishlist. It looks a bit like the SCV from Starcraft which makes it attractive.

I want to see this battling the twin ball kit
This would be a cool master grade.
Use Superglue, Cyanoacrylate to glue the soft rubber into the holes.
Can someone explain to me why zeon mobile suits have nose guards that block the cameras view?
It has been bugging me for 30+ years..
To protect the camera, silly.
Wondering if we will get an HG Origin Zaku I. That'd be nice :)
+CrazyPiPo We will! It's been announced and shown at the expo!
I haven't got a chance to look at your updates yet as I normally want to finish everything in one go. The current Zaku I we have is so dated.

Hmm, maybe remove the head and use something to cover it up?
And i guess you could also swap the hand out for one of those miniguns kotobukiya sells
I hope the arms are waffle compatible.
The shield looks like a Jegan Ecoas type visor
Was it twine you were thinking of
Looks like it would be great for a diorama! If only I had the time!

Should have come with another hand
Great review by the way
I think it depends of the light... but mine looks more orange than red.
Do these things ever even get reprints?
my complain is that the cockpit do not have the clear parts,I would even be better if it is given a clear part and we have to paint the gray frame
it's called a string btw (not even English first language)
The word you were looking for is Twine
I just finished Origin, or at least as far as the dub went (Episode 4 I think?) and this doesn’t do enough for me to want it, but it’s a neat design.
Reminds me of Blitzcrank from LoL
String?
I wanna get one I'm a big fan of Zaku.
If I glue the soft rubber to the leg it is still moving

Are there any bad origin kits? I've loved every one I've made and I'm tot he point of buying any of them indiscriminately.
No bad kits!
How could Bandai make the supior version a premium release?
Joshua Brown yeah they do that often
Looks like a warhammer 40000 gorkanaut/morkanaut ,its time to loot it
It looks like a dread to me, especially if i could swap a hand for a minigun

You know what
Its look like a toy to me
But i still like it
To me it's a toy that makes me have nightmares.....
Interesting
That tiny head looks kind of silly to me. It feels like someone found a spare head in the storage and decided to attach it to his Mobile Worker.
+aznable1000 The head is fine, any bigger than that will fuck up the brute-esque proportions. Lore-wise a big head would be just inpractical.
Wow your an english teacher
I wonder why a construction suit would need a head? especially with an exposed cockpit
Why not?
Ibo mobile workers eat your heart out
