Today I learnt how to pronounce Khruangbin correctly.
I was SO close haha.
But not how to spell "learned" apparently XD
Nobody ever cared
Right? I will admit I wasn't even close to correct. I was saying it like they were old X-men villains or something.
Same here
Are we gonna talk about this dude’s absolute supervillain level studio setup? What an absolute beast.
Love all of what looks like vintage mics all over the place.
😆
@mixingandcats on insta for anyone interested in this studio ✌🏼
and evil cat?
It's different from any other studio I've seen. It's inspiring 😲
_"What's in Khruang's bin?"_
Yes. I like this. Yes.
Huge missed opportunity 🤦
Haaa this is gold
This needs to be pinned.
Awww, that's gold. 😊
It's strange to see DJ acting like he actualy isn't drum-machine-on-beat cyborg
Sweet trip!
@jupit ng. conversation mode :D
I've only ever seen that dude give one facial expression lol.
He's too chill and people complain about it when really 94% of the world needs his level of chill.
@@youniverse6841 exactly. He's zen master 😊
As a fellow Houstonian, it's very cool to see how proud they are to be from the city.
Who isn't? They can get out! haha
@@yunnan I wish Beanz n Kornbread got this kind of recognition though
It's also cool to learn about how influential Houston is musically. We tend to get overlooked down here.
As someone who saw years of injustice and evil county ways I do believe it's about the artists not about a backward city/state.
I love how Khruangbin only have picks from Houston. Shows how proud they are of where they come from.
**and the moon??
So cool I need to check out there all this stuff!
I'd like to think that when they're off-camera the drummer wears a wig.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Khraungbin sold out at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium NY. Kings Of Leon aren’t even sold out there yet. Everyone loves Khraungbin now💯
Speers should present his own music show, he not only plays guitar on God tier but speaks really well
His guitar skills are indeed... 🔥
He does kinda, AirKhruang is there radio show and they did another one that's plane themed on NTS radio
I love the guy on ProTools behind the lady talking, they were like, "just open up a project with a lot of colorful layers and scroll around a bit" lol
The lady talking? The lady? Lmao uh that’s Laura Lee. Just some lady.
@@vs71597 got it, just chill dude
he was editing actually
Love how Laura still uses an SX jazz bass. A budget instrument when she could probably have any company in the world make her a bass right now. Tried & true. X
That's how it be sometimes man. She's probably had that bass forever and just fell in love with it. I could spend a fortune on a new guitar but my first Mexican made strat will always be my true love.
@@isaiahnanez1324 She's talking about that bass in this rig rundown here ua-cam.com/video/hr7ScpVj1QY/v-deo.html
I heard she's actually wearing in a Fender Jazz bass
@@isaiahnanez1324 "forever" being like 2009 in this case ;)
@@sportsfreundberlin .Rig Rundown is where I first came upon Khruangbin. I watched it out of curiosity about gear, and then began checking them out. Mark was so down to Earth and unpretentious,
I could have used another half-hour-plus of these folks chatting their bags. Good stuff.
I clicked on this so fucking fast
They are so cool!
Houston in the building. Loud and proud.
Huge shout-out to DJ for the Ronnie Laws recommendation .... whooooo!!! "Love Is Here" is jaaaaammmmmiiiinn'!!! Y'all Houston folks like to keep it tight. Respect.
This band is so chill
Ok wait, Ronnie Laws, Archie Bells Tighten up And Man on the Moon? Ohhhhhh! hahahahaha! Now I know why you guys are so special. You've uplifted me in more ways than I can say. No one is going to read this comment but I don't care. I'm glad for recordings.
You gotta love that they are all giving shout-outs to Houston artists. This is a group that has done their homework and knows their roots. Mad respect.
Love from Toronto, Canada! Khruangbin is life :)
The moment Khruangbin leads to finding a MF Doom sample in the back catalogue of a recommended artist. Priceless.
Which?
@@danielhubschmitt7897 after watching this I dug into Ronnie Laws' catalog and found the Deep Fried Frenz hook.
They definitely know how to talk about their favorite music, they're really passionate and I could listen to a whole radio show by those guys
They have airkhruang which is apparently their go at a radio-show.......
Of course these guys would go Funky as hell.
I immensily enjoy them talking about the music they enjoy themselves ;)
So pleased to see Ronnie Laws' "Flame" featured here, such a beautiful album (maybe Ronnie Laws best?). I bought this album back in 1979/80 when studying music at college. My sax teacher - a complete bebop freak - put me onto it, and, although I play more experimental music, I still listen to this from time-to-time and enjoy it just as much. Thanks Khruangbin and an extra thanks to Ronnie Laws.
Love their music, on repeat every summer/autumn.
Laura Lee 😍😍😍
I’m from San Antonio so thats where all the power went. All to Khrunangbin! These three are somehow dynamite, electric, and magnetic 🧲 💡 ⚡️🧨
✊🏿🤘🏾🤎🖤
I can imagine coming to khruangbins place, sitting on a couch and chilling to some great music 🎶 but from all the music they showed they are the best
Love these guys. They're so talented.
I love these guys
Incredible songs. Thank you guys for your impeccable scholarship!
Mark Speer possesses one of the best guitar tones around
Fuckin' love this band! They've become my favorite over the years. Can't wait for this pandemic thing to blow over so I can 'em rock live.,
Indeed uwu
Heck yeah dude!
I saw them three nights in a row in LA, it was incredible! They changed the set list completely each night!
I am LIVING for all the Houston love 🌈🤠🚀
Very cool that they love and support their hometown.
I just recently found out about these guys and I've been suddenly seeing them everywhere. Awesome video.
Three incredibly genuine musicians. Love their passion for music!
I did not discover Khruangbin until summer 2020. It could have been something I had already burned out and over-listened to but, instead, there you were, fresh, waiting for me to discover you in that of all years. You became my band for 2020, which is to say, my anchor in this stormy year of years. The universe did, indeed, smile upon me ♾
Your lucky I burnt them out years ago, love there stuff but I hear it everywhere now, still amazing musicians and interested in the work.
Thanks for the Houston music history lesson!
yo... so happy to see Ronnie Laws get some love
I am a Houstonian and I just learned so much
I have a lot of history with regards to Houston ( uncles, aunts, and cousins, etc ), so I can relate. Houston has a rich musical history as you can see in this video. It's hilarious living in the Dallas region now because so many up here won't even acknowledge Houston as a city. Houston is more multicultural than Los Angeles. Jerry may have the Dallas Cowboys, but Houston will always have the Astrodome and NASA.
we've all been waiting for this moment
Talk about representing your state... BRAVO 👏
Thx Amoeba, love their whole catalog. Clicked quick as sh!t 👌🏼
I love how they did this back n forth between all the band. Really cool. I bet they decided to do it that way? Twist
I love how much they love their hometown.
Always good stuff, thank you
Great Houston music history! Three audiophiles. I love it! Oh, and cute studio kitty!
Shoutouts to the Lightmen 🔥
DOPE!
the amount of houston love is just awesome
Can't wait for live shows, plan on taking my 6 year old to experience the Khru
All their picks were similar, what a trip
I might fall into this group
Great bend . I see here, so much love to Houston .
I wish I could find that tighten up 45! My next bin mission.
I didn't realize there was a person behind her until halfway thru the video.
Great vid. I was forced to have bangs as a kid, but that is my personal issue. You guys have much cooler bangs.
Informative, groovy, fascinating video.
Dudes! (And dudette) you guys are madly talented! Keep up the awesome work!
Been waiting so long for this one !!!!
i wish i knew where this band was from
I’m pretty sure they’re from SE Asia somewhere.
Wrong
my favourite band ever hands down
Cool to see how they have same but rare taste!
I've never been more excited for one of these
Damn that mix console set up is life goals.
that Tighten Up track is a stone-cold classic. sick picks all around!
Khruangbin !! ❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️❤️️
Thanks for the Ronnie Laws rec! I made an infomercial for Hubert Laws 20 years ago when I worked with KCOH😂 That Flame album is 🔥pun intended
I have a crush on Laura Lee, just like most people that have at least one functioning eye.😍😍😍
Loved the focus on Houston music!
They must be from Dallas.
Leezy, Tighten Up reppin Beaumont! Love from south Texas, gang
Hyped
I learned from this video the original artist of “Tighten Up”...I love Jamiroquai’s live version of “tighten up” so thanks for the nugget👊🏻See you in Austin on September 18th!🙌🏽
Homer Simpson also covered it, partially, in the episode "Bart Gets Famous". He had just launched into it, when an outraged Giuseppe the organ grinder, instructs his monkey Pepe to "Go for the face!".
A bunch of solid pics!
I thought they were from a distant east European country , and then I found out they were from Texas , which makes them even better because they have their own identity totally different from any other band
'Man on the Moon' - fantastic!
Kru-BANG-bin is how I’ve pronounced it, mainly because of the bangs.
thanks for the bless up Khruangbin :D i stan
This is the best band in the world nowadays.
i love their wigs !!!
I bought that Ronnie Laws album when it came out. lol. Great choices.
Already checking out these recommendations.
Hey I have H.Laws' "Say it with Silence" and I recommend it.
" Very Special Sounds and Stuff ". .. So' Good ... ☺😊😉/💙💙💙/👍👌👏👋
Check out the band Caldera from the mid-70's. First album Caldera (1976) and second album Sky Islands (1977) are fantastic! Not Houston but right up your alley! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldera_(band)
h-town!!!!!!
I love you guys. Keep being beautiful.
Takes notes ✍🏾
Laura Lee! Tighten up! are you kidding me, absolutely an all time favorite, I knew I loved you!, get it girl!
They feel safe and could be as well.
didnt know Ronnie Laws was from Houston! so awesome. great video and great picks.
Great albums! Pure energy. Groovy! Very different to Khruangbin's albums, by the way...
those ess are esssing , lolol love these guys
I fancy her so much
their pics make a lot of sense
6 minutes??? This episode should be 60 minutes!!!
Went to check out this Ronnie Laws guy on Spotify and instantly recognized the MF DOOM sample on 'Friends and Strangers'.
Great band
