Great points, Blackie! I would insist you should use bank line if you are going to do a lark's head... it keeps it's shape and tends to bind to itself where paracord will likely slip off BUT... if you tie a loop THROUGH the eyelet, it can't come off alone.

While this is a neat trick/tip, I've been thinking of using the quick tie guy-line attached to the tarp with the one bowline attached to the grommet. IT should be fairly quick to stake and go. Waiting for my new emergency shelter to come in to set up.
Your "spin and stab" idea adds a whole new "twist" to setting up an emergency shelter. (I'm sorry, Blackie, I don't often get the opportunity for an easy pun like that...)
not off the top of my head i know of a sysyatem that was put out by ranger rick of ranger ricks tips and tricks to wrap them around a walking staff and have many uses for the drum liners shelter bed rain gear ect
stay warm and safe everyone..
Great tip. Thanks.

very true
I’ve done this for years but I pass the loop back through itself and cinch it to the grommets. They stay put on the tarp that way.
Blackie , good tip , thanks for sharing ,God bless !

I miss Alabama so much…. I just wanna go home, but I’m stuck in illinois…. Atleast for now.
Good tip how would you stack your firewood to build a fire in this cold weather here in East Texas in East US
Good question! i would use a V fire to get started then change it over to a siberian log fire for sleeping ..

Glad you think so!

Hi Blackie, I've been hearing people talking about something called a 7 trash bag system for survival/bushcraft. Do you know anything about it?
not off the top of my head i know of a sysyatem that was put out by ranger rick of ranger ricks tips and tricks to wrap them around a walking staff and have many uses for the drum liners shelter bed rain gear ect
I think it's more efficient to send my wife out into the rain and have her put it up.
lol
Southern accent.
yep i am from L.A. lower alabama
