That section being towed on the dry dock was actually a pretty impressive once in a lifetime sight. The coordination between the three tugs shows the work of three skilled Tug Captains. What surprises are yet in store now with the final cut? Thank you for your ongoing efforts to keep us updated Andy.
Impressive for all who made this possible! Monumental if preformed on land but even more so in the water.
The best and most comprehensive coverage available from any source. Appreciate all of your efforts.
Three tugs equal 26,700bhp moving section 6. Great to see it leaving, excellent drone footage with the rain.
Andy needs some type of Journalism or news reporting award.
Thanks for great drone footage Capt Andy! Got to see it from Virginia St leaving from under the VB 10,000 and then from under the bridge as it was passing through - just amazing! Those tug captains made it look effortless.
The Crosby skipper got the short straw had to look at the grey wall of steel the whole way, like a bad fog in.
When you think of the shear ripping power of that chain cutting through that steal, it’s actually quite a clean cut.
Keep up the good work Andy.
💥💥WOOHOO 💥💥💥The thorn is finally being removed 😊😊 Thank you for the awesome drone footage… Such a beautiful day 😊😊😊 Hope your mouth is feeling better … Stay safe and dry and God Bless and Gods Speed 🙏🌹
Thank you SO much Captain Andy! Amazing drone footage. It almost seems like the light at the end of the tunnel is near. Appreciate all the footage you get rain or shine or teeth extractions.
Another well filmed video. Drone shots were well appreciated.
I think someone was watching the Minorcan Mullet at 10:00.
Good report
Love seeing my Tugs as work! The Tugboat Crosby Star and the Anchor Hoy Tugboat Kurt J. Crosby ( My Favorite ) of Crosby Marine Transportation Company from Golden Meadow, Louisiana ( Port Fourchon ), as well as the Tugboat Caitlin of Tradewinds Towing Company from St. Augustine, Florida. It's also great as always to see the Versa Bar VB-10,000 Gantry Crane and the Motor Vessel Minorcan Mullet with our favorite Captain Andy out in the St. Simons Sound!! Thanks again for the update and the awesome footage! Have a blessed day and continue to get well Captain! Looking forward to the next Minorcan Mullet Update from the MV Golden Ray Wrecksite! 🇺🇸🛥🌊⛴⚓️
You know, I'm surprised that the Moran Towing Corporation Tugboats Dorothy Moran and Handy Three aren't being used to help move these sections. I guess Crosby and Tradewinds got the Contract so that's why you don't see the Moran Tugs out there at the Golden Ray Wrecksite. The Moran Tugs do however assist the Ro-Ro Ships, Breakbulk Carriers ( General Cargo Ships ), and Bulk Carriers Docking and Undocking from the Port of Brunswick Colonels Island Terminal, Marine Port Terminals, and Mayors Point Terminal. I did see Moran Tugs in the news footage helping stabilize the MV Golden Ray right after it capsized. Hopefully soon I'll be working with them! I just got my paperwork sent to the National Maritime Center for my Merchant Mariner Credentials.
Ooh Rah! That sight is worth a high-five and a head-butt!
Ya Gotta BELIEVE! Did you see all the vehicles still in that section? They will be busy in port. Thanks for the videos, Andy. All of them. Jon
COOL 😎 seeing the Curt J.Crosby and the other tugs at work. Thanks for that report Capt Andy and stay safe out there in the Sound.
Good to see that you could make it out today hopefully you are feeling better !! Good to see this part going away awesome drone footage thank you for being there so we could see what’s going on be safe out there👍
Amazing footage Andy. Thank you. Thanks to all whose skill and expertise made this possible.
Hallelujah. It's been a long time coming. Patience is bitter but its fruit is oh so sweet. Let's keep grinding until this mess is cleaned up. Thanks Capt. Andy.
Great drone video. Well done.
Thanks Captain, glad to see that chunk gone !!
Fantastic to see another section getting removed!
Great to see it being towed away. But still sickening not knowing the long term damage that's being done.
Now what will be the changes made by ports and inshore sailing of these vessels, I'm sure the insurance will be higher, but their stability must be looked into and measures put in place to stop this happening.
Thanks you for all your daily efforts to keep everybody informed, especially about the oil spill. A big thumbs up for that.
Stay safe.
These tug crews really have their A game up ! Nice drone shots as well as
aboard MM. You just can't beat people who know what they are doing.
thanks, Capt. Andy , for your coverage of this, and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Outstanding episode, thanks Andy. The Claw…the Claw is spotted underway on the deck of the drydock. It makes my day Daddy! The Ancient Mariner is captured standing proud atop the wing wall with his coffee cup in hand, waiting to return to his pilot house for the transit to the bone yard. Farewell oh mighty Section Six…we will NOT miss you…that polluting scow of junk!
Yahooo! Great job Captain Andy from your North Georgia friends.
Thanks for the update. Great to see section 6 on the dry dock. Let’s hope the final cut is better managed. The area doesn’t need another oil spill. Stay safe!
Capt. Andy thanks again for all your updates. Hope your feeling better . When this is vessel is out of the way will you be able to keep your loyal navy up to date on the clean up ? I hope so . Thanks again and be safe.
Capt. Andy : What can the Kurt generate for power ? The Star got the hardest job trying to steer that big flat nosed thing. Thanks for the movies !!
Loved the drone footage, amazing to see those cars stacked up like toys. Thanks
Thanks for the update
Saw Section Six go under the Lanier Bridge from Liberty Ship Memorial Park. Quite a sight. So ready for the Golden Ray to be gone...
Excellent footage today!
I am afraid that the next cut may be one of the most difficult. That is because this time the hulk that was was rocking back and forth as the chain did its work will be much lighter and more prone to bounce around as the chain tries to cut. I hope this won't happen but 1/3 of the weight is gone but the structure to be cut is basically the same.
Each individual section is actually very heavy. I think there will still be enough weight for the chain to pull against. The angle of the chain has a lot to do with it.
Glad to see you back Hope everything is ok
Thanx Cap. Great Vid. KWD
Great video and coverage as usual.
The "Claw" went back to Brunswick.
Tanks fof inf
Great to see it finally on it's way. Let's hope there's less pollution with the final cut and last 2 sections.
Is the Crosby Star really the Bing Crosby, but they didn't want to make the name obvious?
You Know, that is one ugly mess. Glad to see it moving on.
How do they dismantle these sections. Can you show how this is accomplished??Thank you for all your time and energy sharing this with all!!
You need to go back and view some of the old videos. They show the process from beginning till end. The short answer is they use a very strong anchor chain to rip through the ship and slice it into sections.
Sa La Vie 🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼
It’s goin to be interesting 🧐 to see how they handle the last 2 pieces, to keep them up right after the last cut
You can see how much of the hull has been under the sea with the tide mark, I wonder how long it takes for the next two sections to follow section 6to the hill's ,
One of he sadist sights I have ever seen. What a tremendous waste. These massive ships can turn into extreme disasters in short order.
Thanks Captain Andy! Awesome footage of section 6. Hell yeah it's out there! Definitely the section from hell. Sorry I have been missing in action. Just had back surgery and got home. I'll be catching up on the other videos. Hope you have a speedy recovery from the tooth being pulled! Take care Andy. 💙⚓
Great Video
Fantastic! Get her Gone!
A really nice video thanks captain
I am wondering if the guy standing on the dry dock is potentially a harbor pilot?
Thank you, Capt Andy. What a GLORIOUS DAY!!! A few questions...how long will it be before they begin the final cut? Do the final sections contain any tanks containing fuel, oils, or solvents? Could those tanks be drained before they are cut to prevent more leakage? Will the claw work on both ends of the remaining sections to pull out what it can to lighten the load before the cutting begins? I'm curious how they will handle the two pieces? One will be attached. Will they load it first, then attach to the last piece and load it? Thanks again, Capt Andy!
Excellent videos. Thank you. (Do you also video the footballs games and have them on youtube?) Capt Bill
One more cut, I will miss your daily updates, after this is all done. Perhaps you can do occasional updates on the long term environmental impact of this incident?
I agree with that. The negative legacy of this shipwreck is going to be longlived on the environment of this section of the Georgia coast.
Stunning Ariel footage ,2 to go
Other than the vent pipe leak, the cutting of Section 6 was a whole lot more uneventful than Section 3!
hoooooo ray
Capt. Andy,
Where would all that oil have come from? I was expecting to see cross section of a fuel oil tank.
Another good day with the removal of one more section.
Cool footage! Waterproof drone? Drysuit setup?
Hell yeah yeah brother. One more cut to go.
thats for excellent work capturing this event
So I’m guessing and praying that they did not use the water monitors to flush out the silt (and oil) before lifting it out of the water. Am I correct?
Thank you for update, What's next for you to cover events Captn.
...one more cut Andy 😎
That is so cool!
Was that rain or snow? Because it looked like wet snow!
How long will the trip to Brunswick take?
I'd be interested in the total weight of any of these sections. Get a lil Minorcan Navy pool going on weights.
Have they ever determined what caused of the roll over? Was it improperly fastened cargo as in other ro-ro rollovers?
Was there a weight announced for section 6 ?
🙏
Just wondering if the other sections have left Brunswick for Louisiana or are they still being prepared for the journey?
👍
Great work throughout this project! Have you ever spoken with anyone involved with the Golden Ray? Do they mind you being around at all?
I have a good relationship with those there. They get what I'm doing. I have the upmost respect for the guys working to finish this project. I've had issues that is true, but I keep going.. MM
Don't think I would want to be tied to that barge in case something happened. If that thing were to go down it could take the tug with it. ONE MORE CUT!!!
1 more cut
Yay! Finally gone!
Did you win your ball game?
Does anyone have any idea of how much this is costing? I am sure the shipowner had insurance, but will it cover the total removal cost? Any guesses?
Glad to see that puppy gone.
