hyprland was difficult! never knew about the keybindings until i watched this video. replaced dolphin with thunar to get rid of the KDE bloat, still in the works of getting a system tray up and running with waybar. oh and nwg-look is great for changing themes, cursors, icons, etc. fully supports wlroots.
You should use a display manager like sddm. You can install it with sudo pacman -S sddm and then start the service with sudo systemctl enable sddm.service
I can't open alacritty or kitty terminal emulator in hyprland, I can't find any solution in the internet, I use arch on vmware and alread enable 3D Acceleration

I've been using arch with hyprland as my only OS for at least 6 months now and have had 0 issues gaming on it. As long as you have an amd gpu i don't see why you would run in to many issues

Link is in the description now. gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/starthypr.sh But also check the latest version of the hyprland.conf You see that the environment variables are now included on top. That means, the starthypr.sh isn’t needed anymore. Should work with SDDM as well.
my understanding from what ive read is that alacritty doesn't use yaml config files anymore, so there wouldn't be an example file like that there I would search online for alacritty toml config file examples, or just create one

I am afraid I would have the same problem as with other tiling manager, Zoom share screen session showing a lot of black box because the windows do not render properly. But I want to try it. Would it be possible to have a script to run parallel KDE and hyprland and chose at start?
Thanks for your comment. I‘m using Qtile with Xorg and Hyprland with wayland. You could do the same by running KDE with xorg and start it with startx and Hyprland with the Hyprland command. Or you could install a display manager.

Thank you. There was a change in the waybar hyprland support. Please use hyprland/workspaces instead. Currently I would recommend Qtile for a main machine…. Today, for business related tasks. Based on the longer history between both systems. And not every application comes with wayland support today. But let’s see. Hyprland is definitely interesting and I will continue testing new updates. Next video is about my personal Qtile workflow. And you will see… it looks very similar to Hyprland. 😀
@@mylinuxforwork No special GPU setup. Running in a VM like you but using VMware on a Mac. It's an existing Arch installation I've been using for ages with Gnome on Wayland. I tried Hyprland a while back but couldn't get it to start at all back then. I think at that point it wasn't supported in a VM? After seeing your video I thought I would give it another try with those two env variables set. Hyprland launches fine and looks brilliant. But I am struggling to launch various applications. My default terminal when I use Gnome is Alacritty and it work flawlessly there. I can launch Gnome Terminal and if I try to launch Alacritty from there it chucks out a bunch of errors relating to "wayland". I also can't launch Nautilus. Attempting to lauch VSCode crashes Hyprland completely and takes me back to GDM. Firefox launches but runs really slow and slows down Hyprland too, the mouse start lagging on and off.

Thanks for the video, but I must ask. Why does so many Linux videos always, whether review of a distro or discussion of something like Hyprland, always show us how to install it. There are so many videos on how to install Hyprland, it becomes the same thing over again. Better for a noob like me, would be to show me what it is, what it actually does, how does it make my workflow better. How would it help me in my work environment; is it even compatible with software my work uses.. you know, actually getting stuff done, as oppose to...here is how to install it. Just my two cents.
Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. The Hyprland development is very dynamic at the moment. That's why I think publishing an installation video makes sense from time to time. But I agree. My focus is again more on sharing learnings and configuration ideas for Hyprland and Qtile + maybe more in the future.
Some packages are only available in the AUR. And yay makes it easy to install them. You can also install all packages with paru or directly from the repositories if you like.

Whenever i boot archlinux. It shows tty instead of hyprland. How can i setup hyprland to start while booting?

Is your SUPER key working? The Windows key? Can you switch between workspaces with SUPER + 2 or +3 etc?

Hi it says whenever i try to use the cp to make the config file it cannot stat and theres no such file or directory
Whenever i go through the directory for /etc/xdg/waybar, i see the config file in waybar theres just config.jsonc and style.css
Both needs to be copied into .config/waybar. Maybe you want to try out github.com/mylinuxforwork/hyprland-starter

You can remove it in .config/hypr/hyprland.conf There is a settings at the top of the file.

@@JUST_J0E0 both is possible. If you want to have a traditional desktop as a backup just install it in parallel.

Sure. Just follow the instructions and install it from a terminal.
super + RETURN doesn't boot up alacritty, but super + M does exits Hyprland.. why's that?

I want to use hyperland but i am still running a gtx 980. So my drivers are probably going to make it difficult if not impossible.
Yeah. Please check the Nvidia section on the Hyprland wiki. Maybe you will find there some tips.
