We just got monetized this week and I've been watching videos non stop trying to figure out what the heck rpm vs cpm was... you are the first one that actually made it understandable! Thank you!
Hi my friend, its about 10 day that my channel get moneitized, but our CPM is about 3.3 us dollar and Our RPM is about 0.7, our niche is forex, which is the one the highest possible niches, i dont know what should i do for getting more CPM, is this normal to having such low CPM, RPM in the first days of beeing moneitized? Thank you please reply to me 🙏
@@smart_risk hey!! After monetization I settled on shorter content and my videos are usually under a minute. For the most part, my CPM is $2.60, give or take $0.50. My RPM, however, is usually around $0.55 and not as flexible. However, they both go up tremendously for the few videos I post that are longer!!
@@smart_risk so, if I were to guess, the simplest way to bring cpm/rpm up a bit is to make longer videos, NOT just in a sense of having mid roll ads though. Just don’t make them too long or they might just get less clicks!! I checked your channel. You will do great in the monetized YT world. Good luck :)
My channel was monetized recently and I couldn't understand what the metrics were showing for the life of me...until now! Thank you for explaining this so well!
I really hope this helped! CPM is so complicated, until you've read multiple books on it, taken online courses and completed Encarta 95. After that it kind of makes sense
To add to that , you must try and troubleshoot space rocket boosters and calculate X-constant per distance to Mars when the circumference of Mars is not given while using Einstein's third law of motion.
Holly wacamolly, you have massively improved your editing and storytelling skills, I can notice it now that I am seeing this video. What is it that helped you change so much?

Still confusing but I understood a bit thanks. I got monotizated yesterday and I looked in the analytics my estimate revenue is blank then RPM is blank but my CPM is $16.91 is that good or bad
My peak CPM is $213 (one day) on one of my videos but average around $150. It's a very niche space that's booming because of COVID19 though, so the adverts are very much targeted and they pay a premium no doubt. No porkie pie here :)
That's awesome, the most I've ever heard of is 23 across a whole channel, I've seen individual videos get something that high but thats very profitable
I have had several questions and am trying to learn this stuff. IS CPM dictated by genre ? And if it is why do I see people in the comment section saying their CPM fluctuates and is not constant.
I just got monetized on ads 2 days ago, my cpm is $23.72 , rpm is $0.03. 45% of my viewers are from India but I live in US. Is that normal for someone who had monetized for 2 days
Id wait a few weeks, your figure will probably move about a bit, you might have just found that one video is doing well in India this week or it could stay like that. So views from India will result in less revenue, did you promote your videos in lots of Facebook groups too?
@@FilmBooth no but the niche I am in: animation software tutorials and reviews, has a is a big market for that in India. My videos blew up when I only had a couple hundred subs so I couldn’t monetize them. I am now making similar content, very grateful for the people in India

Thanks! Makes total sense, but a question: how is it possible that my RPM on some videos is more than 90% of the CPM, and on others it is less than 30%. So far I only do youtube ads, so no memberships and other stuff.
@@FilmBooth Thanks! No, it is 10% less than the CPM. I just wonder how that is possible if youtube takes 45% of the share and I don't monetize anything but youtube ads. To be clearer: On some videos I have a CPM of US$10, and an RPM of US$9 On other videos I have a CPM of US$10, and an RPM of US$3
Wow thats a really high RPM! Ive just checked my own and the highest mine tends to get is about 50% of the CPM, so im not actually sure how you're getting that!
@Business Film Booth Thanks anyway. I just checked. My lowest CPM vs RPM is US$11,61 vs US$3,30 while my highest is US$12,67 vs US$11,93 - totally weird.
I'd leave it a few more weeks before you panic, a channel I work on had the same thing and it took about 4 weeks to work itself out. Its down to businesses spending money on ads, so in some niches the way brands promote themselves is more seasonal which means your rpm and cpm could move about over the year quite a bit if that is the case. The less people willing to bid on your niches content the less youtube charge for ad space and the less you'll make.
There is no normal im afraid, different topics have different CPM and RPM, from all the channels I've worked on that does seem low though, where in the world are your viewers watching from?
My most recent video got a rpm of 0.03$ and the one before had 0.90$ rpm, they were both monetised from the start. Any idea what’s causing this big gap?
Hello, new subscriber. I just got approved for AdSense for my blog and I'm noticing wild swings in the RPM rates. It's gone from 11 cents to $5.64 within the span of a few days and bounces all around. Is this normal?
That's interesting, so this video was related more to UA-cam so I'm not 100% sure with blogs. It could be that certain ads clicked generated higher cost per click due to the content so you made more but I'm afraid on blog posts I can't really comment anymore than that, perhaps a lovely viewer will fill you in more
@@FilmBooth Thank you very much for commenting back. I'm still waiting for my UA-cam channel to meet the monetization standards but it's been interesting watching the blog RPM bounce all over the place this past week. Still super new at it!
thats a great question!! I dont actually know the answer im afraid, i wonder if anyone who is reading this who might know could comment to fill in the gaps
I'm afriad different niches and different audiences bring in different CPM. So content in the finance sectors, or marketing or make-up make more and you get higher CPM from Australia, American, England and NZ in most cases, so it's probably down to your content and viewers.
Someone please explain to me how I can have a single video have a $9.67 CPM but youtube only payed me an RPM of .53cents for a 5.4k video giving me a pathetic $2.91 ??? They made $52.22 off me and are only paying me $2.91 I'm supposed to get 55% and they get 45% how can they get away with this?
I dont even have a monetized channel BUT After viewing at least a dozen videos on the subject I have yet to hear one person explain the following. What is the relationship between RPM and Average time a video is viewed ? IF video A and B are BOTH 10 mins long and BOTH have a CPM of 4.00 but A gets an average view of 8 mins and B only gets an average view of 2 mins HOW Does that effect RPM / Bottom line revenue ? I am suspecting the reason I am finding this info so so hard to come by is because Most people Uploading videos on the subject Dont really understand the relationship.
Your RPM won't increase, it's based on how much you get paid per 1000 monitised views, so 1000 views of an advert is 1000 views. If you put more adverts in your videos it just means you'll get more views (1000 views faster) but watch time won't make your RPM increase or decrease, it'll mean you just make more money as a result of more views.
@@FilmBooth Ok let me see if I understand this / you. In my example lets say A averaged 2 commerical views As a result of people sticking around 8 mins where as B averaged only 1 commercial view AND AND AND you are saying they both got paid the same because they ( each video) was viewed 1k times ? You are saying that video A will just reach 1 k faster ? Because If thats true SOME ONE IS Getting Ripped off. IN VIDEO A TWO Different advertizers got Exposure NOT One ! You should have gotten money from BOTH advertizers !
Youve kind of understood, but from the sounds of it you've not grasped what rpm is fully. You get paid for both advertisers, this does not effect your rpm, rpm is how much you make per 1000, not how much you make overall, 1000 views just comes faster with 2 as view's Vs one
