My biggest issue with most of these games is endgame playability (lag). I'm very much like Skye and build massive bases as well as I like to "beautify" a lot of my cities, bases, themeparks etc and to tweak every little item to make everything run smoothly. But by this time the games are starting to suffer from lag and general slowdown because they are not optimized very well. Sure a lot of games are early access and I understand not finished but if they can't offer a better endgame feeling it tarnishes your whole view on the game. Especially if you have to grind through a lot of research just to get to the better options and that's when the game starts to lag.
The only time I got rekt was the Memphis-Saint Louis-Indy scenario 4 or 5 years back. I had almost connected them all but bond debt caught up quick and fast, since I did not really know what I was doing.
BravoRaptor if there a developer make Internet service provider tycoon... Thats the only simulation game i cant find... I really like simulation game alot
yes, the guild 3. I still play renaissance all of the time. I just hope that the devs develop an actual working game this time because The Guild 2 is a buggy piece of garbage. Thank god for modders like Fajeth.
They've been in the process of making it for years. I doubt it will ever get released at this point. They're having a lot of trouble developing it and I'm pretty sure they're having financial issues too.
I must say I really appreciate this video. There are many videos in this category, but the others usually just show the trailers of the games. However you really explain the different games. Thanks for this!
I remember watching your channel back when you were throwing together Simcity tips. I've only just rediscovvered it. Great to see you're still putting out high quality content. I love this series. News i crave and your presentation is on point.
I cut my teeth in Sim City and Tycoon games almost 25 years ago. Good to see the genre is still going strong, and I appreciate that there's somebody like you taking the time to play/review them here.
I've said it before, and i'Il say it again i'm sure. Man love your enthusiasm sir!!! So many other channels are just like.. "here's my top 10, blah blah" but you can tell when you're really pumped and excited about certain games or aspects of each because you just let it all out. Love it man! Keep up the awesome work!
I read that Starship Corporation got private funding from a publisher less than a year ago, so supposedly work continues, but the developer has been bad about communicating with the public.
Well, there seems to have been a pretty big update yesterday. Aparently in the last few months they overworked the whole galaxy map. Will have to test it out tomorow to see what it can do now.
Can't believe I've never seen your videos before! Jumped into you Software Inc lets play after watching this vid and I'm hooked!!! Keep up the great content - I've just downloaded it too
SUBBED! I always look for the top 10 in strategy games on youtube and I always get the same games on EVERYONE'S list. Except yours. You've literally listed 10 games that aren't nowhere on the other list. You seem to know what sim heads really want and like. Keep up the great work man.
check out RCT Classic. It's a mix of both games in one for pc and mobile. It comes with all expansions and also a fast forward button (which is very nice)
All aboard the HYPE TRAIN! CHOO CHOO! Normally I've discover games from your lists but this list is full of games on my radar which is not a bad thing. Glad I'm excited about all of the right games and you reinvigorated my interest in early access games I haven't touched in a while. Starship Corporation was the one game under the radar for me and I am delighted a game like this is coming out. By the way, great choice with #1. Excellent choice. I've been disappointed at the lack of gameplay video out there but as if they are hearing my cries they have been recently sharing a lot of beautiful screenshots on their Facebook page.
thank you so much for making this review Sky! I am a huge fan of simulators and tycoon games so I can't wait to check these games out in more detail and make a decision for my next obsessive game lol!
My eyes almost popped out of my head when I seen Guild 3 in the list. I seriously hope they work out all the bugs if not most of them. Guild 1 and 2 where amazing but guild 2 was just far too unstable. Very excited to try this one out.
The irony is I still play Locomotion over OpenTTD and willingly deal with the town AI oversights and engine limitations because its a hell of a lot more immersive then OpenTTD and its sharp corners. And I will keep saying that till I'm blue in the face. OpenTTD may have a vastly superior engine framework but its artstyle is something that did NOT need to be maintained moving into the next decade and is has no other alternatives.
I like Parkitect. It has a great agent system and lots of information to help you improving the park. It can be play and replay several times. Really worth it.
now you got me interested in starship corporation and software inc. funny, how I wanted to make a similar game to that production line game. set in the early days of automobiles, researching new tech, becoming bigger and let your company survive into modern times.
I've been waiting for Software inc for years, can't wait for full release, looks great and no way I'm spoiling it by getting bored before it's finished!
For those that don't read the description 0:08 - Starship Corporation 3:16 - Another Brick In The Mall 4:54 - Megaquarium 6:10 - Parkitect 7:16 - Software Inc 9:12 - Production Line 11:12 - Railway Empire 13:19 - SimAirport 15:37 - Airport CEO 17:39 - The Guild 3
Starship Corporation looks fantastic and could very well be the best of the bunch depending on execution. I'm looking forward to trying that and The Guild 3.
AirportCeo - When I saw the fuel trucks I was immediately in (it's personal :D ) Production Line - I can see micromanaging hell becoming in this game, I'll definitely check that out!
looking forward to many of the games on this list as well as some that didn't make the list, like Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 for example. Looking forward to some of the future let's plays.
6:00 sad fact; great white sharks don't survive in captivity. It's something to do with the way they breathe and move, but they can't be kept in tanks for more than a few months.
I am absolutely hooked on Production Line at the minute. Loving it. I tried SimAirport and was a bit underwhelmed by it but I understand its in early access. I like the simplistic design aesthetic they took. But airport CEO got my juices flowing. I've never been on a plane before and the thought of flying makes me anxious but damnit I want a good airport game!
Someone Really Needs To Make A Game like this When You Can Simulate A Person and Own the City and make the city buy stuff and do about life and get stuff like a boat that CAN sink and also have a creator mode and make disasters.
i didnt have a huge learning curve for software inc, but okay... As long as you follow the tutorial it takes about 20 minutes or so and tells you how to do everything
Parkitect looks like a middle project between Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 and 3 the only innovation I see is that at least the food stores work with supplies... something that the RCT series never had
I hope the railway empire game will recognise the potential of not overcomplicating their game and allowing expansion into future railways / foreign dlc's making it like railroad tycoon3 ... basically I am just after a remake of that beauty
Yeah, a polished up version of that golden age of railroad tycoon, capitalism 2, transport giant, simcity 3000. Those games made me an adult gamer, tought me english out of pure necessity and the first time I used calculators for a game. Good days. I do hope so much that they can find that good spot again, I feel like planet coaster, transport fever and city skylines all come close.. but just focused a bit too much on graphics and a bit to little on the real economic core and that innate desire to build the perfect machine. From that perspective I have high hopes for starship corporation and production line. If anyone is into production lines, factories and transport simulators, I would recommend factorio. Misses the tycoon part but makes up for it with a near perfect production challenge of automation.
Chances are Guild 3 will be Guild 2 with a few bits added and a slightly higher resolution. I bet all the bugs are still going to be there. Pitty, as this game has amazing potential
We are honored by the 2nd place, thanks Skye! We certainly hope we can live up the expectations.
You totally deserve it .. make us something awesome! :)
Airport CEO best game ever awesome job
Airport CEO and congrats
Airport CEO well done
I cant wait!!! well done!!

Another stellar top 10 Skye. I am super excited about so many of these games! I can't wait to see which one you play next ;)
Thanks Sam .. catch you on the voice server soon I hope :)
Railway Empire could be the spiritual successor to my all-time favorite game,
Railroad Tycoon 3. Choo Choo!!
I heard despite being on Steam a lot of people have trouble getting RT3 to work so I am skeptical about getting that one agian. :(
There is a Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10 fix I use - hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt3/Xtras/
The only time I got rekt was the Memphis-Saint Louis-Indy scenario 4 or 5 years back. I had almost connected them all but bond debt caught up quick and fast, since I did not really know what I was doing.
go for transport fever. Looks a lot better!
But it has ZERO flow of goods by other means, ZERO competition, and ZERO financial stuggles, and ZERO economy conditions!!
I am going nuts for Airport CEO, I can not wait.
NextPlanetGaming as buggy as guild 3 ^^
Megaquarium caught my attention way more than I thought it would
Another great top 10!
Cant wait for The Guild 3 (i honestly did not know they were already making it).
They've been in the process of making it for years. I doubt it will ever get released at this point. They're having a lot of trouble developing it and I'm pretty sure they're having financial issues too.

As an aviation fan that's been looking for a tycoon-type aviation-themed game for years, I am so freaking excited for Airport CEO!!!!
Love your sense of humour and style of commentary! :)
Absolutely loved the guild 1&2, so going to get the guild 3 #hyped
#10 is definitely #1 on my list. Hope Starship Corporation comes up in 2018.
Wow, looked into Starship Corporation. It's Indiegogo campaign ended over 4 years ago. No wonder Skye doesn't have much hope of it coming out soon.
There is a version on steam, has mixed reviews, and was released in 2016.... soo. =\

Antonio D I subscribed because of your comment
Came to your channel because of your Banished gameplay series. Saw this video. Loved it. Subbed.
Welcome to the channel :)
I hope you keep updating this video as it'll be interesting to see how each game progresses over 2018.
You, Sir, earned my subscription! Nice video!
Omg thank you so much. Never heard of Software Inc before, but this game sounds like im gonna be really really addicted to it.
RCT 1 & 2 are still the best!
check out RCT Classic. It's a mix of both games in one for pc and mobile. It comes with all expansions and also a fast forward button (which is very nice)

Nice run down, liked and subbed.
thank you so much for making this review Sky! I am a huge fan of simulators and tycoon games so I can't wait to check these games out in more detail and make a decision for my next obsessive game lol!
These videos are awesome! Great work!
Great vid well done, really enjoyed watching it :)
#1 looks like a shit ton of fun
I love these videos. My wishlist on steam is now nicely populated for the future :)
I have always enjoyed your great taste in games! You have some really exciting games in this top 10! Keep up the awesome vids!
Thanks Roo :)
Love your top picks episodes! My game library has really grown since the SimCity 5 days! And you'll love the SimAirport updates!
Hey Zelphia! Glad you liked it :)
and i hoped for new zoo tycoon ..
I've been hoping Planet Coaster would do a Zoo Expansion Pack.
Bro you have no clue how many memories you just brought back :(
They are making one! It's coming out this Halloween!
Expansion for Planet Coaster or a new Zoo Tyoon? Whats it called? Either way sounds good!
Richard Datson its called Zoo Tycoon Ultimate Animal Collection! Watch the trailer, it looks awesome!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a sucker for tycoon games! :D
Thanks for your effort - great video
Love the list. I would love for you to do more top 10s. Maybe your favourite tycoon games of all time? I love an old classic.
brilliant review, explain things so well...!!!!
Great survey! You won a subscriber.
My eyes almost popped out of my head when I seen Guild 3 in the list. I seriously hope they work out all the bugs if not most of them. Guild 1 and 2 where amazing but guild 2 was just far too unstable. Very excited to try this one out.
Oh nan! I loved that sound from Medieval Lords! That was an awesome game!
transport fever will take the next 2 years at least :) for more hardcore guys.... OpenTTD :D
FreestylerAlbert I prefer Simutrans over TTD tbh.
is that have the 32bit patch also? :)
The irony is I still play Locomotion over OpenTTD and willingly deal with the town AI oversights and engine limitations because its a hell of a lot more immersive then OpenTTD and its sharp corners. And I will keep saying that till I'm blue in the face. mathwizi2005 Chris Sawyer's Locomotion?
mathwizi2005 I still play locomotion as well such a fun game
I like Parkitect. It has a great agent system and lots of information to help you improving the park. It can be play and replay several times. Really worth it.
Will be checking out Railway Empire and The Guild 3
picked up 3 of these 10 games, thanks bud.
Y'know, you make pretty damn good top 10 lists.
Thanks for the great video
Thank you for video. I bought Sim Airport since it looks like more fun and less micromanagement than Airport CEO
now you got me interested in starship corporation and software inc.
funny, how I wanted to make a similar game to that production line game.

I love railroad tycoon games where you have to manage a company, make money, upgrade etc. overcoming challenges.
really agreed with no 1 sky. i love guild2.
cant wait for 3 to come.
11:27 you hear that?
thats the hypetrain coming!!
OMG!!! that was sooo goood!!! xDxD
GUILD3! I had no idea they were making a new one. :D
OMFG, I just started to play Guild 2 again yesterday randomly and I see Guild 3 coming out in this video today. What a coincidence.!
I would love to see the developers of The Guild branch out and make a game that focuses entirely on being a trades tycoon in the Medieval ages.
Thank you so much for this video
For those that don't read the description
0:08 - Starship Corporation
3:16 - Another Brick In The Mall
4:54 - Megaquarium
6:10 - Parkitect
7:16 - Software Inc
9:12 - Production Line
11:12 - Railway Empire
13:19 - SimAirport

Hey man! I found your channel yesterday and now in love! More one subscribe from brazil!
Welcome to the channel! :)
13:08 Look at the track at the mouth of the tunnel lol
Starship Corporation looks fantastic and could very well be the best of the bunch depending on execution. I'm looking forward to trying that and The Guild 3.
Airport CEO looks great
I'm actually really hyped for megaquarium! Sort of the closest I'll get to a modern good zoo tycoon
AirportCeo - When I saw the fuel trucks I was immediately in (it's personal :D )
Production Line - I can see micromanaging hell becoming in this game, I'll definitely check that out!
Tycoon games are my favorite. I'll get the software development, mall and airport one.
I may have laughed harder than I should have when you geeked out about railway empire.
"Number 4 is railway empire, and I'm so excited I think I might wet myself." ... subscribed
Movie Studio Tycoon has released first few alpha copies, that game has a lot of potential as well.
just as i drop my pants and sit down on the toilet he uploads a video, top man
don't forget to wipe!!
Damn you... you made me want to play The guild 3 again. :( I was close to being over it. Now I can't wait :(
I can't wait for Zoo Tycoon 3 on PC!
Thumbs up just for mentioning Jeremy Clarkson! xD
looking forward to many of the games on this list as well as some that didn't make the list, like Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 for example. Looking forward to some of the future let's plays.
Not quite my cuppatea, but certainly a very astute review - good stuff, Skye!
Thanks Doc :)
Wow, a real successor to Railroad Tycoon 3...maybe?! Added Railway Tycoon to my Steam wishlist. Trying not to get too excited.
6:00 sad fact; great white sharks don't survive in captivity. It's something to do with the way they breathe and move, but they can't be kept in tanks for more than a few months.
Guild 3 looks very impressive!
Railway Empire looks like an updated Sid Meier's Railroads. I have not a single problem with that.
Software Inc's music is not at all horrendous..on the contrary, i like it
What do you think about Starship Corporation at the moment in September? Worth it?
some cool games coming up, love it
sim airport. I have been waiting for this type of game for a long time. suggested it on prison architect forum years ago. so much potential!
Awww come on man,,, Dont be that hard on parkitect. They are doing great with a very small team. (3 people) the game will be awsome!!!
Ever since Railroad Tycoon III I am waiting for a good rail sim. Railway Empire could finally scratch that itch.
Guild 3 looks amazing. :D
pumped for some of these XD
I am absolutely hooked on Production Line at the minute. Loving it. I tried SimAirport and was a bit underwhelmed by it but I understand its in early access. I like the simplistic design aesthetic they took. But airport CEO got my juices flowing.
I've never been on a plane before and the thought of flying makes me anxious but damnit I want a good airport game!
this is awesome information about such loving game i tried all 10 games thanks skye storme.
That "Hype Train" moment could be an internet meme
thanks , well done!
Someone Really Needs To Make A Game like this When You Can Simulate A Person and Own the City and make the city buy stuff and do about life and get stuff like a boat that CAN sink and also have a creator mode and make disasters.
I've been waiting 15 years for someone to make a game that made up for the disappointment that was car tycoon.
what about crazy taxi?
2:20 "The ships writing" :)
i didnt have a huge learning curve for software inc, but okay... As long as you follow the tutorial it takes about 20 minutes or so and tells you how to do everything

I love software Inc.!!!!
If railway empires could have the looks of Sid Meier's Railroads and the size of Railroad tycoon 3 I would be in heaven.
Software Inc looks bloody brilliant
Chances are Guild 3 will be Guild 2 with a few bits added and a slightly higher resolution. I bet all the bugs are still going to be there. Pitty, as this game has amazing potential
