Extended Metaphor Pick a metaphor and explain how --- > turn in to an extended metaphor Metaphor --- > Life is a rollercoaster. Typically, these are used to build emphasis and carry an idea further. Definition of rhetorical question according to Cambridge online dictionary: '...a question, asked in order to make a statement, that does not expect an answer: "Why do these things always happen to me?" '
