@@yenyerita 100% agree - I feel like one-shoulder gowns usually have some asymmetry in the bodice to indicate that support the asymmetry of the one-shoulder look, but the dress is so perfectly symmetrical all the way up until suddenly "ONE SHOULDER". It really does look like the other strap fell off. However, if she goes for an asymmetric hairdo or just keeps her hair down like it is, you won't see the strap anyways so maybe wouldn't notice that the other isn't there
@pdmartin80 there are several colleges and universities throughout the US, both public and private, that someone could go to for this. As long as they have a Theatre program, they will have a costume (sewing) shop. I wonder if there are trade schools that do it too... that I'm not sure of.

My son and daughter in law got married in Florida at the end of April and it was hot!! My daughter in law made her gown, it was light and flowy and beautiful. I understand now why most people who get married in Florida want a light, flowy gown, otherwise you will be miserable. The heat and humidity is no joke!

It is NOTHING like what typical Hallmark postcards show and there really isn't much that is actually good about Florida in general and that's being generous.

Every once in a while a bride picks a dress that is truly stunning on her...this is one of those brides that picked a really gorgeous dress that is just perfect on her...don't know about the beach wedding...but, it is still the perfect dress for this young bride!
Lovely dress, but unless it's a fall/winter wedding, that Florida humidity is going to make her miserable in it. It's bad enough for those of us who are used to "air you can wear," but for a Scots lass, ugh. I feel for her and anyone who has to wear Sunday best (a wool kilt when it's 95 degrees?) in that heat.
I think this is one of my favorite episodes of this show. Mom and daughter both had their wants desires for the dress, but they both cared about each other enough to put those aside and come to an agreement. Mom didn’t takeover her daughter’s dress and in the end went with what made her daughter happy. Daughter tried on a dress that was both her own style, but that also something that had elements about it that made her mom happy too. Their was no big drama, tears or falling out like in other episodes that I’ve seen.
Mermaid looks better on her figure. Nevertheless, I think we are robbed from seeing the bride in a great ballgown. $790 plain ballgown with $2500 budget?!

I don't use kitchen towels anymore. I use microfiber towels to wipe stuff. I use silicone food bags rather than plastic. I'm making the changes slowly but surely. And I never shop without my tote bags. I bring in very little plastic into my home.
Mermaid dresses always give me the impression that the person is like "tied up in a bag" on top and will trip any second cause they have to tripple while walking :D

I've seen it look good on exactly one dress, which had a cool asymmetrical neckline that set it off.
