It's a good thing deputy doofy lost his firearm in the process of the crime. Who knows if they would have caught him without that key evidence.
If you want to help stop this horribleness, which you should because you don't want to be harmed or worse, you should concentrate on stopping the majority from harming innocent and helpless children and better understand what is harmful. You and at least most of the majority must also better understand or learn what an actual reasonable person and group is as well.

This is a 1st 48 episode. Did nobody not tell u that? Little girl lost is what it is called Gwinnett county officer, she's a lady, was who happened to get assigned this case. I believe it's season 25. Maybe 24. I have it on my DVR but I'm too lazy to look up what season and episode. Your welcome sista. 1st 48 is an amazing show! My Tulsa boys are amazing! This whole "teenagers run away" excuse needs to stop. Especially when the teen doesn't even have a history of doing that. Both of my teenagers are pretty much homebodies. They will go out with their friends, but they wanna be home at night. I would lose my Fn mind if the police brushed it off if one of my kids were gone.
This child was not your teenagers! It was clearly normal for her to be out that time of night, and alone, as long as she texted. I’m quite sure you wouldn’t have waited until the next morning to react, if you knew your child should have been home in no more than 30 minutes and didn’t make. They literally went to bed while she was walking in the streets alone at night, and that wasn’t a problem to them until she didn’t make it home the next morning.
@PatienceLove Wtf are you talking about? I'm talking about the police not taking it seriously. Nowhere did it say she had a history of running away and not contacting anyone, so the police shouldn't have brushed it off. My point is, the whole concept that it's immediately considered a runaway situation needs to stop.
As of 2003, on the federal level in the US, Suzanne's law, the police are required to put anyone under the age of 22 on the missing persons list and start looking for them. If you have a loved one who goes missing and is under the age of 22, remember Suzanne's law. Print up the information to show it to the police if you have to. They will try to talk you out of it, but be persistent.
Fr. Because even if they did run away from home. It should still be a concern of the persons well being. Crazy how some cops just use that as excuse to not work.
It's pure misogyny and laziness from the police there are thousands of girls and women from the 70s and 80s and 90s who the police deemed as "runaways" but are totally dead and victims of crime!

I find it curious in these comment sections when there's the group saying: "Cops should have investigated regardless of runaway or not" as she is still a young teen. Cops say shes old enough to runaway so, nah- we will wait a bunch of weeks to care. Then you have some here blaming the family for even letting her walk home at 10pm.

Yeah, when I was a kid trying to run away, they wouldn't just let us get away with that. Police would be randomly stopping by my friends' houses and popular local hangouts looking for me. Runaways weren't top priority, but they had logs of missing teens/suspected runaways, and they would assign a team of (at least) two for every shift to follow leads and track down suspected runaways
Right from the beginning, the response of the police were very suspect. They need to be investigated and charged. Disgusting.

It broke my heart watching this. I was kidnapped for hours when I was 5. Thankfully the monster dropped me home afterwards, not sure why, but glad he did. There was blood on my dress, but alive.@@GeminiGuidance88

We live In Lawrenceville ga. It’s a neighboring community. My daughter is the same age. I’m a very small adult. I’m 5 foot 110 pounds. I was out with my daughter on a Friday night coming home from picking her up from work in norcross. This same officer pulled us over. I didn’t get a ticket, but a verbal warning for a rolling stop. The guy was creepy. My daughter said she’s seen him many times in her work place, a retail establishment. This was in February. I’m so glad insistently demanded that I took her and picked her up from work always. When I heard about this I made my daughter quit her job. She’s in college now in Gwinnett. Her dad takes her to class, waits outside her classroom and brings her home. Unconventional I know but that’s my kid. I’m not taking any chances no matter how “inconvenient”

I'll never understand why running away is taken as a reason to not look for a child/ teen. They are still in an incredibly vulnerable position, even if they chose it.
Because most of the time kids run away, they literally come back not long after. Also, this teenager literally tried to pretend to be an adult, partying and acting in sexually inappropriate behavior for a kid...they probably assumed initially she was partying or staying at a boy toys house
@@ChristoffRevan literally everything you just listed is the exact reason why it would be so important to search for them immediately, the likelihood of harm befalling them would be even greater.
Additionally, I have to wonder about the accuracy of the “most runaways return” statistic. Is it still inclusive of data on cases several decades back or has it been modernised? Pre 2010 it was not standard for everyone to have a mobile phone, let alone a smartphone, so a lot of reported runaways from previous decades may have just been from parents who had panicked over their kid’s failure to communicate in advance where they were going, as they didn’t have the technology to just text their parents about any spontaneous changes of plans or reassurances they weren’t in any trouble. It’d be a lot more accurate to make the statistic on runaways using data exclusively from the years smartphone use became widespread.
But irrespective of that potential discrepancy, I still question how police reconcile using that runaway statistics as a justification to not search when they ALSO have access to the statistics (formulated using police data) of how rapidly the likelihood of finding a kidnapped person alive decreases to zero after only a few days? 🤨
Statistically, by the time the police wait a few days to rule out it being a wilful disappearance, the missing person will likely already be dead before the search even begins. So, surely that statistic should take precedent in their decision making, especially when the missing person is still a minor!

There should’ve been an Amber Alert immediately issued. The way the police handled this case is absolutely horrendous. They should all be fired all the way up to the Chief.
There very specific criteria that must be met in order to issue an amber alert. Unfortunately, one can’t be issued each time a juvenile goes missing.
That isn’t to say this investigation was not botched. It absolutely was.

This would have only met 2 of the 5 requirements.
There has to be reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred, believing (by law enforcement, factual not emotional) that she was in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death AND enough descriptive information about the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist.
There were a lot of mistakes from the beginning. Although I wish it was reported immediately, this could have been prevented all together had all of the other red flags and concerns been properly investigated.

Yep I was stalked by a male coworker for over 15 yrs as management and coworkers protected him, all because I refused to sleep with him. To this day I am always aware of my surroundings and actually panic if a pick up truck( which is what he drove) stays behind me for longer than I like. Apparently his wife left him and he lives above a bar now, still drunk everyday and still a loser. And yes I do carry now.
If only the police could be held accountable for failing to investigate timely.

I would look at suing the Gwinnett County police department because their lack of response initially was grossly negligent. A 16 year old girl who is so involved at school and with a routine doesn’t just “run away” after texting her parents that she’s on her way home. The police attitude toward her being missing was just incredibly ignorant and lazy. It’s really sad that kids can’t just walk to and from a friend’s house without being at risk of serious harm from some stranger. I’m so sorry for her family who loved her so much and had to endure the waiting and the ultimate tragedy of losing their beloved girl. 😭🙏🏼

@@Bailey-ww6ru The family agreed that Susana would not stay out without notifying her parents, which I assume would be, asking permission to stay overnight at a friend's house. Considering her mother received a text saying that Susana would be leaving to come home soon, there would be no reason for anyone to think that she was staying overnight at the friend's house or stopping somewhere else before coming home. So it seems silly to me to say that the parents didn't think it was a serious situation. If they didn't, they were FOOLS!

We're living in the time of mass human trafficking of women everywhere all around the world it's like the suppression of women is at an all-time high on so many different levels . And the fact that multiple offenses happened to different people before anything ever got investigated is another form of suppression and neglect for young ladies 😢

Then the community should gather together to help look for her. Stop counting on the cops to go door to door or look in every bush for anybody. Honestly…why isn’t there some sort of team that’s put together to help look for the missing person instead of waiting for the cops.
I live in Gwinnett and drive through Doraville to get to my office. They all dropped the ball. The cop should have been fired long before this and received criminal charges for breaking in. This wasn’t on the news until way after she went missing…. This really sad and I feel for Susana’s loved ones. This should have never happened.

This is the first I’ve heard of this case, which I find shocking. This is a clear example of discrimination. We need a way for missing persons to be reported to the public without relying on police. Just because police didn’t care about Susana doesn’t mean the public wouldn’t. But we don’t hear about it. In this age of technology there has to be a solution.
This is also an example of police brotherhood. He could have been stopped before Susana was attacked. I’ll be watching the progress of their civil suit. The city needs to be held responsible for their despicable response and the devastating consequences. Susana’s life matters.

Not necessarily. My classmate was kidnapped and never found. Same situation.. police refused to take it seriously. She was blonde with beautiful blue eyes. But we lived in the country in a poor neighborhood. The news wouldnt even talk about it. Her mom had to pitch a fit for years just to get police to even look. Now they are pretty sure two other classmates did it for a thrill, but police havent arrested them and still no body. Its been over 20 years.

A child is a child NO MATTER what skin color. Law enforcement nationwide should immediately begin searching for them. No waiting should be in place. Absolutely Law enforcement dropped the ball. Maybe to protect one of their own but either way THEY FAILED the child and family.

22 years old not sill in the military and already a police officer. That means he was discharged either honorably or not. I'd have to guess dishonorably. Clearly one of the people that should have been denied his job as an officer.

Anne, this one had so many red flags. It is appalling that neither one of the departments is being held accountable for dropping the ball. I'm heartbroken. This young lady lost her life. It’s a really recent one, Season 24, episode 20. “Little Girl Lost.” It really shows all the steps taken by the detectives, & they seem to have done everything they could in Gwinnett county, where she was reported missing. However, the other state(county maybe?) where the guy/murderer worked as a police officer- THAT was the agency that really dropped the ball!! They were the department where he was 1st reported as being a stalker! Caught on surveillance & all that s**t. Gwinnett County was the PD who solved Susannah‘s disappearance/murder. They tracked down the evidence, found that surveillance from the other PD (which was never investigated by his own agency btw). Gwinnett Co did a great job - - it was the OTHER agency, where the officer worked that did a TERRIBLE job, NEVER looked into the claims of stalking, even though they had the video evidence, & they were pretty much unwilling to share it with Gwinnett CO until they pushed for it.
Anyway - - that’s the episode. It’s the last episode of season 24. It’s on Hulu. Please watch! It makes a huge difference in perception of this case.

This poor family should sue the Police Department who ignored them and resulted in her tragic death. It is disgraceful that they showed no interest in her disappearance despite the family reporting her when she didn't come home when she was expected to. Even this rubbish of waiting for 48 hours is absolutely unacceptable.
Even if they wouldve done their job and immediately investigated and looked for her, she wouldve probably still not been found alive. She more than likely was murdered that same night... unfortunately. Prayers for her family, I cant imagine what her mother is going through. 😔
I worked as a maintenance man for several apt complexes. When I would enter a residents apt for an ac call, it would sometimes feel fine "to me", but I would always take the residents word over my opinion due to the simple fact that I did not live there. They were acclimated to that temp, if it was higher than normal or out of the ordinary; they'd know about it more than I. The fact that police assumed she wasn't in immediate danger is alarming and should be seen as a extreme cause for concern.
The police failed 💯. They should have followed up, knowing there was a previous complaint of the guy walking into an apartment. How did the police not already have this guy as a suspect? Nope they failed this young girl.
Did they sue the department?
Had the police charged him earlier he would not have been a cop to do this.
I'm from that part of Norcross and went to the same high school. I'm glad you're bringing more light to this. GPD really dropped the ball on this and another case that happened at the same time. There was another teenager named Rodrigo Floriano Mayen from the same school that was found dead in a shed from an overdose. One of my friends lives a few homes away from the house with that shed. Apparently, the family had tips that he was in that shed, but GPD took forever to actually check it. Another friend of mines younger sister who went to school with both teens thinks there's more to his story than just an overdose. RIP to both teens.

The crazy thing is that “rule” doesn’t apply to anyone. It’s actually a myth and it’s crazy that a lot of police officers aren’t informed of this fact.
I forgot about this case, so saddening I lived in Doraville and Norcross for 2.5 years and for people that don’t know they are communities about 15 minutes above metro Atlanta, mostly Hispanic and African communities. Teens would wonder down busy streets all the time over there to catch the bus to the Doraville train station to go to midtown I’m pretty sure that’s changed now. I wish I could hurt this monster that hurt Susana! It is sickening because my cousins, nephew and niece still stay in North Atlanta.
Why didn’t they immediately start searching for her? I do not understand the complete apathy.
My mom never allowed me and my sister to walk anywhere after a certain time and she always picked us up no matter what time of the night we might get cussed out the entire time but she knew we were safe!

“Teenagers run away” it’s frustrating hearing that, especially when it’s cops saying that, they don’t know the child, to just assume they ran away just because they’re a teenager is infuriating. I’ve read and heard about cases where the parents are adamant about the fact their child would never run away, yet they’re brushed off by the cops. Even if they did run away why not investigate further?

This case is so sad because it wasn’t taken seriously and the police failed her and other women who were victimized by this man! Any missing child should be a priority from the moment it’s reported.
