They’re slowly making a comeback , sp choppers are too expensive for many now and most second hand ones are worn out and have issues, many have high horsepower tractors underused so it makes sense
@@AgriVidsProductions Definitely not, I had a friend who lost an arm in a round baler. I look at a lot of you tube farmers, and I cringe when I see the guards missing, particularly on static machinery. Grain augers in the US are the main problem.
@@astonmcleod5344 the most cringe worthy thing I notice on you tube is mostly Americans who insist on removing grinder guards although probably not take an arm of. Other thing is people using grinders cutting with the wheel turning away from you so forcing grinder towards yourself. Pto shaft are among the worst though.
@@astonmcleod5344 to be fair, on something like a forage harvester, a person shouldn’t be any where near around it while it’s running, so really no guard necessary. Something like a grain grinder is obviously a different story
@@francisherbison8946 I agree, that is a rapid risk assessment, one to bear in mind when sharpening the knives on a forager you are around the machine. I help out on a neighbours farm feeding lambs with a Keenan, the pto guard is stuffed. Like you I keep well away.
Nice video. Days of self propelled harvester will come to end. Trailed is always most efficient as can use tractor afterwards whereas self propelled parked up for like 45 weeks of year doing nothing !
Not to sure it’s the world’s biggest pull type have you had a look at the big Dion ? Be interesting to see them run side by side with identical tractors on the front of each.
I wouldn't have a clue either to be fair. Although I'm guessing a tractor and trailed forager would probably cost a bit more than a self propelled of similar hp
Brand new today a small SP will be cheaper. Don’t know exactly but about £200k 350hp tractor, £70k 1460 vs about £200k smallest SP which are about 400hp
When subsidies stop altogether these will be back on the scene everywhere I think. Farmers have alot bigger tractors nowadays already pulling slurry tankers and multiple mowers etc. For a big farm a big trailed harvester ready and waiting would be handy. Farmers will need to save on bills everywhere. We pay more for water than milk and it disgusts me. Something is not right there!!!
In my part of DK (Lolland) i have only seen a few selfpropelled Claas because most farms got pigs, grain and sugarbeets. I think there are more trailed choppers in Jutland, where the most dairyfarms are. I would love to see one in action. Lovely video by the way👌

Damn that thing has some output! A rare sight nowadays, but makes sense if you have a spare tractor powerful enough.
Not many of the 1460s about, that's for sure. This was filmed back in 2014 as a demo. Awesome to see in action
What are width of rows, how many tonnes of grass lift per hour?
Good to see PTO guard is in good condition and operating correctly.
I'm assuming this wasn't sarcasm 🤞😅

Smashing. Sounds like a self propelled
Better job than having 300k tied up in a self propelled for 2 months work. At least you can take this off the tractor.
Great 👍 video like 👍 the mix of tractors 🚜👌👌👍👍🚜🚜🏴🏴🇬🇧🇬🇧👩🌾👩🌾
Thanks Sandy
What a beast of a machine.
Absolute Monster of a trailed forager Dan 💪
That's some savage harvester ,it's picking up more grass than any ofthe old self propelled harvesters
Singing a nice tune! Good Video Aaron 👍
Singing her own music 🤣
very, good, great, job
More impressed by the looks of a Teagle Titan silage trailer still in use, If it is a titan it must be 30 + years old??
Yeah still going strong
Nice video. Greets Stefan
Thanks Stefan, you see many of these in Germany?
Ryegrass?

Hell she sounds well👌
TOP! 😁
How much would this cost and how much would a 350 hp self propelled be? Just curious I wouldn't have a clue

Sheez, if you weren't looking you'd bet on the sound that it was a self propelled! Wonder how many hp she takes to hit top gear?
Well over 350hp I think Rhys. She's a monster
@@AgriVidsProductions I thought you'd be looking high 300's - certainly got some throughput! Great video 👌

Jeez, they went a bit nuts when they made that chute. Some machine though.
The chute is massive Brian , but need it with the modern silage trailers height
And to adjust the distance/avoid trailers running over the next swath
@@MrHlund007 they are quite popular in your country aren't they?
