More please! This show is the first hour long show where Bill had time to explain things better than the half hour version.

If this man would have lived 400 - 500 years ago, he would be considered a grand master today.
    (And I do so 😉)
What a nice person as well, two for the price of one.
Well done Bill, fire it in 💪

I think these are instructional tapes meant to be shown in art classes. That’s why he takes a lot more time explaining the paints and his painting area. He also puts more detail into the painting and doesn’t explain as much as he normally would.

I don't have great artistic talent, some maybe, but Mr Alexander is very easing to watch sort of mentally and physically therapeutic in some respect. I had fell into his work accidentally in the 80's, needing to find peace after coming home from the military, work was slow if not impossible to find, but I could tune into The Magic of Oil Painting and his show brought a bit of light to a dull world. I may paint rarely, but it is his inner peace he leads the audience into a relaxing state of mind. Sometimes I would become a bit anxious awaiting the next show. I recall when he brought Bob Rossi aboard, who branched onto his own yet retaining a hint of William Alexander. Thanks for posting this.

bills invention was coating the canvass before painting...painting color on color goes back to at least the 1500's

Instead of building a box with a 2x4.. I just take a regular plastic trash can with a heavy duty trash bag in it. I then have a standard wooden broom handle that you can buy at a home supply standing in the can (I think the small round handle is easier on the brushes).. I beat the brush in the can and the extra thinner stays in the can. I also throw my paper towels in the can, this absorbs all the thinner. When finished, just pull the bag out and throw it away.

1 + 0 + 6 = lucky number 7. 😉. Yes, always stand back and look at your work...always. If there are mistakes, you will see them then.

Watching Mr Bill makes me want to forget about buying art gear and knock the cobwebs off of my Tenor Sax and start playing again. Then I listen to Dexter Gordon and I want to lay my Sax on the driveway and run over it with my 3/4 ton pickup truck. I'd start playing 9 Ball again, but I don't think I could walk around the table very long and today they have many different rules. In any event Mr Alexander is amazing, huh!

His Voice is not awful. He has a different way of speaking English and probably his mother tongue is not English. I attended Bob Ross CRI course where you can not deviate from Bob Ross methods. But watching Alexander, it is slower but the same basic technique. But I understand that I don't have to rush, I don't have to put in so much content, and can do the cabins in a different way. Bob Ross courses are very strictly prescriptive offering no freedom. You have to do it the way you are taught. But Alexander takes that fear away of a prescription. Why not combine the two? But I can clearly see how Bob Ross improved it and found slightly different way of doing it and grounded it!
