Happy to make it! One thing I forgot to mention was that adding in all these cool new items means you actually make meaningful decisions on what to keep.
I am impressed by the quality of your coverage of the updates. I am hoping that Unity starts supporting foveated rendering so one day The Light Brigade can get a visual upgrade. It already has good art style and direction, but sharper textures / clarity can only make it better. Keep up the good work.
Thanks you for the kind words! I have a bit of a video/media background so some of this stuff is natural to me. And it also helps when I like the game haha. I couldn’t spend a ton of time making a video about a game that isn’t enjoyable. And I agree on the FOV rendering I hope unity sorts it out soon. I saw in the change log that the quest pro has it working so it must be specific to PSVR 2.
The Light Brigade is great! I picked it up a while back, and didn't know if I liked it, but then started to see how things worked, now I love it. The first update is great, and a few things have changed! The health canteens how heal you fully! The Cigars are a heal over time, slowing regenerating 1 HP every like 10-15 seconds? But there's three of them in the box. The Breacher's shotgun is one of my favorites, but sometimes it gets tough to use if you freakout, gotta work that rack properly! Stay Frosty!
This was a good update review. Thank you. Calling it an essential vr shooter was spot on. It's still a great game and well worth the price of entry. Highly recommended. The sounds and aura of this game are awesome. Not to forget the mechanics of the weaponry and the replayability. It does a fantastic job of transporting you to another dimension.
It really is! One thing I didn’t touch on is how much more important inventory management is now. With all the great new items you have actual decision to make on what you keep.
@@bmackVR Yes, I also very like new approach for healing. Shotgun reloading absolutely awesome.👍 The new custom runs scales game way ahead, and we will be getting more of those. It’s just blast! 💥
Great video! Super informative. I'm having a lovely time with the Breacher class. It feels very good for run and gun play. On top of the overshield syringe, I'm ecstatic I don't have to just constantly hide and shoot for an hour (albeit was very fun still, Options are always nice) ! :) I'm mostly probably going to use the Drone as a decoy- but maybe if I can line up a shot properly I'll use it sparingly or in a pinch.
Thank you!! One thing I just learned is that you don’t have to pump the shotgun each time to fire. If you pull the pump back, you can keep pulling the trigger with the pump in the rear position and it will keep firing. I believe this is called fan firing??? I saw the devs talking about it on Reddit. EDIT: I had this backwards. You still need to pump but you can just hold down the trigger and each pump will just auto fire.
The cigars actually slowly heal you over time; your character will 'puff' every so often whenever you have one in use and it'll recover 1 HP per puff. I 'think' you can speed the process up by handling the cigars between puffs, basically letting your character take a puff, take it out of your mouth and put it back in and it'll take another puff. It's basically a slow passive regen and it is surprisingly satisfying to go into a rampage while having a cigar in your mouth XD
Okay I may be crazy, unless you heal over time normally, I think the cigars heal 1 point of health per draw of the smoke, kinda like how the cigarettes of into the radius restore 10% stamina per draw
Glad they are making improvements. I had a bad experience playing the game at launch, returned through steam, and left a negative review. I strongly recommend this if you are playing VR on standalone. (Quest 2-3) PCVR on the index, it felt underwhelming compared to what other titles can do. Also all the tutorial control prompts were visually represented with quest controllers.
I think the Index controls work just fine, that’s what I play it on. At this point I don’t even remember the tutorial haha, but I agree it is a slight pet peeve when games display controls on Meta controllers only.
You have to find the right settings for you. Personally, I like playing seated. The options let you adjust your height among many other things. That helps.
The game has magic. Does one of the classes revolve around magic, or do you always mainly use guns and magic plays a support role? I would love to play something like this, but im usually not one for shooters (tho, to be fair, in VR it looks a lot more interresting than on flat screens).
There really isn’t a magic based class. And that’s probably because the wands are a little lacking. I’m betting in future updates they will address that though. This is definitely a shooter game.
Man played this for a few runs last night and I was so hyped for the shotgun, I was hoping it would be a trench gun but I'm not complaining, but I didn't see anything else that was new and I didn't even get the side arm or the wand with the class, which sucked because a lot of times enemies were just about out of effective shotgun range and I never found any upgrades. I'm hoping those were just some shitty runs but either way it was nice to see the shotty and the new firing range was cool too My dumbass didn't realise the Winchester IS the trench gun💀
Yeah sounds like shitty RNG. I would invest in the side arm and money if you have perk points. The money is really nice to go into a run with a wand or buy holo sight or chain shot.
If you hold the trigger down you can do the slam fire mechanic where everytime you pump the handle it fires(like a trench gun). But yea I was a lil dissapointed with the shotgun and drone classes but after getting the pistol or progressing farther with the drone it felt way better
It’s a good game. For sure has some problems though. Class balance is pretty bad. The non hip fire weapons are basically crap without a laser dot because aiming is so slow. The AI is really dumb and just locks onto you and stands still. Still I’m having fun with it
Haha thanks! When I was filming the intro, I stuck a pen in my mouth so it would kinda sound like I had a cigar in my mouth. It’s kinda embarrassing but I forgot the thing was in there and kept it in long past I was done with the clip hahahaha. Love that stupid cigar!
I’m torn between buying this tonight and Into the radius. I’m a souls Bourne player till I die. I like games that can grind and have almost “no ending” just grind and get better without getting bored. How is this game? Plenty of content without feeling like repeating the same thing?
I personally wasn’t a huge fan of ITR. The inventory management just felt too much like a chore to me. I know plenty of people love it. I thought the combat was fun and the environment and exploration was great… but I just don’t really care about loading every mag and organizing my back pack. I think The Light Brigade has a good grind, and there is a decent feeling of progression as you upgrade the classes, but it’s nothing crazy. Most of the upgrades happen during the run. The gunplay is where it really shines. The weapon handling is just fantastic. It probably does get a tad repetitive as some of the environments feel a bit recycled at times and the boss fights never change.
@@bmackVR hmm so I only play ghost of tabor and am looking for one good game to buy right now that has grinding and good action. Any suggestions before I purchase this? I love rpg, rouge light, dungeon crawlers
@@bmackVRyeah I just don’t want something as similar as tabor, I don’t want to do all the loading and stuff in another game. I’m loving the videos I’m seeing of The light. Especially with the classes and the fact there still adding content. It looks right up my alley. I don’t mind farming boss’s and maps as long as there’s plenty of loot and I want a game where the enemies are actually a challenge. You can’t just run and run. Actually plan your move
To be honest I think your right. The Light Brigade is my favorite VR rougelike and I will always welcome a better game to enter the scene. Just curious, what do you like more, in case I missed it?

Fantastic opening!!!! And the drone is brilliant.

Perfect timing, this game just went on sale. Great video!
I since learned a bit more. Lvl 3 cigar actually heals you. And I think the purple helmet makes you invisible until you fire at the enemies.

Cigar does heal over time yea. The pack of 3 is really cheap in the shop too. So its a great item. And you feel cool.
I think your right. At the time I just didn’t notice it. And I know the gold cigar definitely heals when you puff haha.

I had no idea you can light the cigar xD also, how are you reloading like that?
As pistoleer you can just slam your gun down into the ammo pouch after ejecting a mag to reload the gun.
I just picked this up today…I like the game but it’s gonna take some getting use to. I got the PSVR2 version.
If you have questions about it the devs and games community are super active on their discord.
