    You may want to applly a third coat of Polyfilla. Each coat should feathered and extended further by about 4 inches all round using a larger trowel. After final sand rub a very tightly wrung wet sponge over the surface to remove all the dust. Don't forget to use a primer before the 2 topcoats. No taping is necessary for the edges as this hole is quite small. If the patch is large use a FybaFuse or paper tape. Better not to use fiberglass tapes on ceilings. Only on walls.

      This patch won't crack because it has no movement with it being celing, and there are enough screws to firmly anchor down the joints too. I have been doing this similar technique for 20 years and I personally haven't had one crack open!

      @@ashrevlution3456 I think you're spot on. If you have a lot of experience (20 years) this patch can work but for DIYers and homeowners looking for a quick patch, I don't recommend patching without tape. Thin profile FibaFuse or similar products are smart options to prevent cracking. I've seen too many failed patch jobs that crack or sag. Hats off to the pros that pull these off!

Doing just one thing all the time is so boring So I have to learn myself other trades bit by bit You dont believe but I do tattooing too. My wife thinks that is a bit too much !

    Pretty poor job actually. The materials you used were wrong. You needed to use tape. You did not prep the area and you screwed the screws in too deep making the bond less strong. If you are a rookie and no one will see the repair- maybe but it would not have taken much more work to do it right. Using the wood underneath and leaving some room around the new piece of sheetrock was correct but that was about it. This job will fail- it will crack and just not look great. It already does not look good. Also, ever heard of primer? Do bettter next time.

  • @dh737
    @dh737 4 роки тому

    Why all the screws ??? Why not use mitre glue , its instant and no messing about ! Old dog new tricks. Your filler is too wet and the trowel is too big. Excessive sanding, waste of time
