Would this be ok to connect the Ethernet to a Xbox to have better connection bc my router is across my house and I don’t get good connection so I was thinking about a router to put in my room
It is just a very tiny router. It still needs a modem. A modem either from your home or it can connect to your phone's hot spot feature if your phone has it activated.
Question 1: Would this device be able to collect an already existing internet signal from a modem one room over and then directly connecting a PS4 through this device's Ethernet port to establish a wired connection with said PS4? Question 2: How are you enjoying this device so far and what issues has it had? I'm wondering if I should buy this for the situation explained back in my first question and if this would be the best device for that scenario.
I just checked my device, yes, it has a "client" mode. I leave mine on 24/7. Operates warm. No issues so far. I don't stress it. I don't expect much from it.
Just regarding the Hotspot As in some hotel you have to use voucher to get access to one device.. Do you know if using this can you use multiple device?? And does it have a mobile app? Thanks..
Unfortunately, a lot of hotels make you use your web browser interactively, so there is very few ways out. If that's not the case in your hotel, you can use this device as a "client" in wifi OR via ethernet cable. There is a newer version of this. I have both. But this one is much smaller of the two.
Yes, I have that one. That's newer. Its a little bigger. I'm using both together. It supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz. Both seem very reliable. The new one is only a few dollars more. Its on sale on amazon right now.
I also have the "GL.iNET GL-MT300N-V2 Mini Travel Router, Repeater Bridge". It is open source hardware and software. It uses OpenWrt already installed. OpenWrt is very versatile, but it can be confusing. good for geeks.
Technically, once you have it in hotspot mode, you can connect to the hotel's wifi which will bring you to a captive portal to login in. Once you login through your phone, then any other device connected to the router would have internet.
Oh, I still have it. But there are much newer devices. I would recommend a new model. They still sell this old one on amazon. I don't know why. It was already old when I got it. In terms of tiny routers, I am currently into the GL.iNet opensource routers. They come with OpenWrt built in. I have several of their devices so far. The only thing about them that the masses probably wont like is that these devices are pretty much almost roll-your-own or you-are-on-your-own. Well, they're pre-rolled, but you really are on your own. They are stable if you have the patience. I have their tiny yellow "mango" box (same size as the tp-link above) and I have their new "Beryl (GL-MT1300)" grey box. The new one has WPA3.
I also have a "Jetway JBC323U591W Intel Braswell Celeron N3160 Dual Intel LAN Fanless NUC" ( as copy paste from my amazon purchase ). That one is running Linux. A router specific version of Linux. It is quite inefficient to do it this way, but I just want to have that as a gateway between the internet modem and my LAN ( Local Area Network ). I like to know what traffic is going out to the internet.
@@throwaway05 Does it mean any internet signal that goes through any personal router will have privacy because the interenet signal goes through the personal router?
I get 4 xfinity wifi signals. With my wifi LAN, Windows automatically picks the strongest signal. I'd prefer to select among the xfinity hot spots myself. Can this do it?
There is a wifi access point (hot spot) and there is a RJ45 ethernet connector. You __can__ connect this to your phone's wifi hotspot, but it only routes to its ethernet (wired) connection. So if you are trying to share your phone's hotspot to a laptop via ethernet, yes. What exactly are you trying to do? Are you saying your phone already has a hotspot as many phones already have? This device does not have a slot for a SIM card if that's what you are asking. This device does not connect to Verizon/ATT/Tmobile/Sprint if that's what you are asking.
This is the only guy that makes any sense regarding setting this up. Wish this was the first one I saw and not the fifth. Thx!

can we use this like away from home or do we need internet? i’m still very confused

I'm looking for something similar but uses 4g sim but has Ethernet built in to it - any suggestions thank you

Which one would you recommend?

Can you connect your desktop to the to link and use the to link to get wireless connection from your router outside in the living room?
Yes, I've tried connecting my laptop to the tplink in 'client mode'. Works alright. Messy, but it does work.
Hey mate, were you able to measure how long it took to boot up? I need something small like this but with a fast boot time.

What happens when it runs out of the megabits?
I want to create Wi-Fi with device so I can play games on my PS4 but I don't know how to set it up first
La Faker any luck with this?
Setup through the hotspot mode. Find your wifi connection to. Open webpage. Login through the captive portal. Then you are good to go.
Can you use the usb to plug in 2tb harddrive and access it wirelessly?
no.
@XEINXIERE
I dont think there is a usb. If you are referring where it says power. Then it's for power only.
Hi can you reply my question is I have it but the internet is poor how to improve it
internet is poor is due to the ISP that provides you the connection, you might want to check what's coming in first.

You can right click on the signal you like and choose to connect to it.
so this can pick up wireless hot spots and let you change channels?
yes
can a wifi adapter help somehow with reception of the hotspot signal?
they sell 1 watt USB wifi adapters with external antennas.
Does this have it's own hotspot or can use my phone hotspot
