- In this quick walk through I show you how to setup the TP-LINK AC750 Travel Router (TL-WR902AC) to share a hotspot (or wifi) connection across the network that the device creates. I use this setup with my photo booths and sharing stations so that I have a wifi connection when on location.

Great clear info. Out of all of them this was step by step clear cut 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Awesome instructions- Much appreciated 😎
Gracias señor! Al fin un tutorial super simple :)
Thanks sir just bought mine and you were very helpful.
Happy to help. Let me know if you have any questions.
@@photoboothinfocom McAfee virus protection has informed me that this video you posted is infected with a virus.
Yes...I'm serious & hope you can repost a virus-free copy.
Otherwise, THANKS for this informative video. I'm considering the TP-Link AC750 for my trip to Germany & Ireland.
Best regards,
Ben
Thank you for the video instructions. Will selecting public wifis at hotels/cafes following your Quick Setup instructions now make my internet access safe and secure? In other words, even though the hotel's host network is not secure for guest login, will setting it up like you showed in your video create a new and secure wifi network? Is this one major reason why a person would want to use a travel router like the TP-LINK AC750 to create their own wifi network and connect it using a public/unsecured host wifi?
Hello. Thanks for watching the video. Yes, this setup will create your own secure WiFi network. Along with what you pointed out, another benefit is that if you have multiple devices that need to be networked together, this will allow that. Some public networks block devices seeing other devices.
It will work with a public wi fi network that requires login via captive screen. You have to clone the MAC address from the laptop to the router. The setting is on the left pane
How do I do this?
@ariannapommells there should be a setting named ' clone MAC address ' it will have a button to clone, that replaces the routers MAC with the laptops MAC address
So can I log in with my phone then just clone the MAC address to the router and it should work ?
@alebaba1100 No, you need the the MAC address of the device that initially logged in to the captive screen, that's why you should use the laptop for very first login.
@@jimmynicollikesapickle1124 that’s what I mean . Use the iPhone to initially log in then get the MAC address from the iPhone ?
Hello, I dont have a computer only a phone and a ps5 will its still work when try to connect my hotspot to it? I haven't bought it yet but I really did help with a stronger connection as I live in a dead zone
Is your phone the hotspot? You'll need another device to actually set up the router.
This isn't going to improve your internet connection. It will just create a WiFi network. If your hotspot doesn't have good internet, idk if this will do any good for you.
Hey! Quick question let’s say I’m going on a boat and I need to use Luma booth assistance and I don’t have any Wi-Fi or network connections on the boat will this give me access to use luma assistance and would I be able to print my pictures from my dno printer?
Yes. This will create the wifi network that you need so that LumaBooth and LumaBooth Assistant can communicate.
hello
I'm from Brazil and I follow your channel. I'm starting with lumabooth and I found your video teaching how to configure a router. My question is: after this router configuration, do I just need to take the router to the event and plug it in, or will I need some active internet at the event location? At the moment I use internet from my cell phone to share qr code in online mode but it takes a long time to create the qr code. I'm looking for a solution for offline but I don't know how to do it.
You would want to connect to your cell phone hotspot or the venue internet to use the router to share the internet. If you want to do OFFLINE QR Code sharing, take a look at LumaShare along with LumaBooth. Look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/iQ2HpQ7Zxfo/v-deo.html In that setup, you would use this router to create the network and Lumashare would allow guests to connect to your network and then scan a qr code to save their file with no internet needed.
Will I need to log in with the WiFi network every time I start it up or will it build off of the network that I first connected it to even if I am out of the original network’s range?
It will remember the last connected network.
So can you put in a visable sim card in this and use it with two ipads for road trips during the summer?
This is only a router. This does not have the option for a sim card. It can connect to a hotspot to share internet across the wifi network that it creates.
so to be clear- im looking for options to have a wired connection for my pc.
i only rent a room here in the house, so this CAN connect to the wifi they share with me and enable a wired connection from their wifi to my pc right? what about when i want to use my iphone hotspot data, will this also work?
sorry, its a bit confusing to me still
I am a little confused. You can connect this to a shared wifi, and you can connect your computer with a wire to this router, but that does not mean you will have a wired connect to the primary shared internet source. If you want to connect this router to your hotspot instead of the shared wife, you can do that easily through the setup.
If there is no (internet) wifi readily available. I can use this device to connect my laptop (print server) to my iPad (photo booth system)? It will send the photos to the printer, and all sms/email will be queued in the software until there is available (internet) wifi.
Yes. That is what I do when I'm running LumaBooth and LumaBooth Assistant (for printing). I'll even have a share station with LumaShare. But yes, the share typically are stored until internet is available. With LumaShare, they now have Offline QR Code sharing that can allow guests to connect to your wifi and download their files.
Hi there I have a question regarding this router?
Because im working on a cruise ship, to enter the internet connection of the ship, they gave us a link and account that is limited access to 6Hrs. Will this help me access the internet 24/7 and boost my internet connection?
I'm not quite sure I understand how you are connecting to the Internet. This device needs to connect to a wifi network. I don't think this is going to help you access beyond your 6 hours. It may improve your connection, since you can place this device in a location with the best signal and then it will broadcast its own network.
Ok so it seems I misunderstood the purpose of this device. I thought it would be its own wifi source with no other connection needed but i guess thats not true. What it does is takes a connection that you need access to and makes it stronger for you? If im on the go what type of connection would i always have access to, optimum hotspot?
You have a basic misunderstanding of terms. This creates a wifi network. Not all wifi networks are connected to the internet. This device will create a secure wifi network to allow your devices to communicate. This device also has the ability to connect to another wifi network (with internet) or to a hotspot to share that internet across your wifi network. I don't know what the best internet service would be for your area.
After the setup, can I bring this around plugged into a portable power bank and it'd still provide connection?
It will still provide a wifi network, but only share internet if you are in range of your internet source.
@@photoboothinfocomare far does it extend
I'm confused and new to these. Now do you need WiFi at home for this to work or? Cause I got the box in the mail. Now I want Wi-Fi lol. Do I need to call a cellular service to get a plan going?? Or?? I have no wifi at home and im in the woods. I have Air talk on my android phone, i have data on with that and they run with T-Mobile. I just want Wi-Fi for when i am traveling on the road. Will this work for tht? I ordered this from Amazon.
This does not provide internet. This will create a wifi network for your devices to communicate with. This device can also connect to a hotspot or another wifi to share internet across it's wifi network. Imagine being in a hotel and you don't want to connect all of your devices to the hotel wifi, you simply connect this device and your devices always connect to this.
Hi, I’m just wondering if I connect this router to my mobile phone hotspot, is it going to save the battery on my phone? Cuz I know sharing hotspot from a phone can eat up the battery real quick.
I haven't really tested that aspect. Typically when I'm using the router and mobile hotspot, I have everything plugged into a battery pack.
@@photoboothinfocomI see. My phone always dies quick and overheats. Thanks for your help.
@@alfreytsai I'm thinking the router will help with that. You should plug your phone in, but hopefully the overheating will be minimized.
So, if I connect my phones hotspot (which can only do one device at a time capped at 5mps) will I be able to connect multiple devices at faster speeds?
You will be able to connect multiple devices to share the hotspot that only allows 1 devices. The speed between the devices will be faster, but if your service provider limits you at 5mps download speed, it will not be able to download faster.
After i make the internet connection (with phone hotspot) . Can i connect my iptv box with ethernet?
Yes. You would connect it to the wifi network that the TP-Link router creates.
Will this also improve the speed of the internet when you connect via Ethernet cord?
This device will not improve internet speed provided by the internet service provider.
I have Alcatel Link Zone hotspot, would I take the sim out and put it in there? Is there ethernet port?
Hello. No you do not add a sim to this router. You would continue to use your hotspot for internet. This router would connect to your hotspot to share the internet reliability to all devices on its network. Yes this router does have an Ethernet port.
Hey boss, just to make sure I’m understanding….
If I buy this Router, I can take it most places with me, and it’ll give my laptop a network to join to receive WiFi?
Also, can I straight up take a Ethernet cord from the router to my laptop and it’ll give it network?
Yes, this will create a wifi network for you and yes you can use an ethernet cord to connect it directly to your laptop. To be clear, this does not provide it's own internet, it simply creates it's own wifi network that can also connect to another wifi network or hotspot to share internet. For example, if you are in a hotel with multiple devices that you want to network together, you can use this router to create your own private network, and still connect to the hotel to share their internet to your private network.
@@photoboothinfocom awesome info! So this is my concern.. the WiFi at my job(s) are too weak for my MacBook. Do you think buying this would give it better signal/strength for my MacBook? As in, will it run faster while this router is connected to my jobs WiFi?
@@DrFinesse7 It's possible this could help. I would suggest setting up this travel router in a spot that gets stronger signal to your job's wifi. Then from there you can connect your macbook to this router. You would be using this router as an extender to give yourself a better connection. If there is nowhere in your office area that has a stronger signal, then it will be more difficult for this to be a benefit.
@@photoboothinfocom then how come you said around 7:32 that this does not work on open networks with login aka captive portals like hotels?
that's what I intended to buy this for...
So you just connect it to your at home Wi-Fi. And you are all set on the go?
What are you trying to do?
Im using my home wifi and my mirror booth just give un stable signal not sure what the cause might the computer my question can i use this to make it hotspot for my whole house?
I don't know how big your house is, so I can't say if this will cover your whole house. This is a travel router, so it's more suited for smaller coverage areas.
Can I unplug it to take it places? And do I have to go to the WiFi thing and connect it from there?
It is a travel router, so you can take it with you. You will need to connect it to an Internet source if you want internet.
If there’s a captive internet landing page can you still get past this with this ?
Yes. I have gotten through them.
Okay, so it provides a wifi network, can I still access google on the go away from a modem?
This device does not provide you with an internet connection. You need to be connected and in range of an internet source. If you are connected to a hotspot or another internet source, you will have internet.
Is there a monthly payment. I just got my baby a table and need portable Wi-Fi
I think there may be some confusion between having a WiFi network and having access to internet. This router alone will allow devices to communicate with each other. If you want to have internet access you still need an internet connection from a hotspot or other WiFi network that has an internet connection.
Will this work in a hotel room im currently at a budget suite and the WiFi is slow
This is not going to change the speed of the internet.
Yeah what if you need a webpage to log on to hotel wifi, aka a captive page?
It's been my experience that the device you are using to connect the router will go to the page and allow you the login.
What is the ping and mbps average on your hotspot?
The speeds of the hotspot are going to change depending on signal strength. I have not tried to check the ping speed.
Will this work in a hotel ? If so do I just plug it in the wall and insert the Ethernet cord ?
I work from home
You can do that or connect it to the hotel wifi.
@@photoboothinfocom where can I buy this one?
I have a question? Can I use this as WiFi for my PlayStation?
Yes. It should work for that.
Can you use this in hotels which require you to login after connecting to the WiFi?
I've had it at one location that required me to agree to terms when I connected. It simply brought up a webpage on the device that I was using to connect the router to the internet and it worked. I originally thought it wouldn't work, but now I think it should work with a login.
@@photoboothinfocom Thanks. It probably won't work with a chromecast then. I am looking for a solution to use a chromecast in hotels, which require a login after connecting to the wifi.
@@Daniel-yg9sf It's just the first device that you connect while setting up the router will have to to login. You're basically logging in for your router and then their network doesn't know that there are additional devices connected to that one device. I would say give it a try, I'll bet it works.
@@photoboothinfocom Cool, that makes sense. I'll give it a shot next time I'm at a hotel.
You think I would have connection problems trying to work from home in a hotel?
Should work fine
does it take any carrier sim card ?
No. This is a router. This creates a wifi network and will connect to another wifi network to share internet across it's network.
So how will this item work if you are not around any wifi during the setup process?
Then you don't really have to do the setup. Just use the wifi login information to connect to the wifi. You will not have internet, but you will have a wifi network that will allow devices to communicate on.
7:32 right & wrong. You just put in Pw there if available. If you need to login to a hotel WiFi, don’t select security setting/password. Your phone/laptop will bring you to the hotel login page and you can go from there.
That has been my experience.
Just confirming. This will work in any HOTEL?
It should.
Can this be set up with phone?
Yes this can be setup with a phone
does it take a sim card
No. This is a router. It does not provide internet. I can create a wifi network and connect to another wifi network to share internet.
Dose it work for a phone
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. It's a router that creates a wifi network. If your phone can connect to a wifi network, then it will for.
Thx for the video. Though, a speed test would have been nice
The speed test would have shown my Internet speed. I have had this device connected to Internet sources will download speeds of 400+Mbps and the router had no issues. Your service provider will be more of a limit than the device.
Does it work if I don’t have Wi-Fi at my house and is it free or a monthly plan is it good to play game on ?
Hello. This router does not provide internet service. This provides a stable wifi network to connect devices. It also allows you to connect to another wifi network (that has internet) or a hotspot to share internet across your devices. There are no monthly fees, but once again this does not provide internet.
@@photoboothinfocom but does it help the speeds tests?
@@Motivationalbankz it's not going to change your speeds. It will be a stable network for your devices.
Does it have a simcard slot?
No. This is a router, not a modem.
it doesn't show up in my wifi list
try plugging in the network cable to a computer to access the admin section. Make sure it's working.
I followed these instructions but for whatever reason, my device isn't giving internet access. It just says connected without internet
What device are you connecting the router to for internet?
@photoboothinfodotcom motel router. It functions like an at home router so there's no login requirement. Just a password to connect to the internet itself via wifi settings. Just like your video
@@WolfieGirlSheena make sure you're going all the way through the setup to the Finish button. Make sure the switch on the device is on Hotspot sharing (the switch can look like it's in position but not actually clicked into position.) But it should definitely work. If you go through the finish process.... try unplugging the router and plug it back in. It should connect to the last wifi network. When it's fully connected there should be 3 lights lit on the top.
@photoboothinfodotcom still not working. I'm guessing whatever router the motel is using isn't compatible with the device.
@@WolfieGirlSheenacan you connect other devices to the network? I honestly have not seen a wifi network that these routers can not connect to. The router acts like a normal device, so it would be very difficult for the motel to block the device.
Will this work if you do not have wifi
I assume when you say "wifi" you mean internet?
This is a router, so it provides a wifi network. I can connect to a hotspot or other WiFi network for internet.
As far as your question "will this work", what are you trying to do?
so u need wifi for it to work
It's a router, it creates a wifi network.
Still need a internet connection? or not?
It depends on what you are using the router for. If you are doing things that require internet, then YES, you need an internet connection. If you are doing things that only require local network access, then no.
This router does not provide internet. It creates a wifi network AND can connect to an internet source to share internet across the network.
how much download speed tho?
From TP-Link website, they state "Dual band up to 750 Mbps"
@@photoboothinfocom does it actually give up to that much or is it false advertising
do you have to pay for having it or its just free to use
This does not provide Internet. This creates a local WiFi network to allow devices to communicate. It can also connect to an internet source to share that internet to all of your devices on the network it creates. There is no additional cost after purchasing this device.
@@photoboothinfocom so its just to help with better wifi connection. does it bypass when being in hotels wifi
So does it work just set it up as a hotspot and it shares my home WiFi ?
Or any WiFi I’m on and makes it better ?
This router will share the internet from any wifi network that you connect it to. You can not connect to your home internet, then go somewhere else and expect it to have internet. What are you trying to accomplish?
So you cannot use this wifi device unless you already have WiFi in the first place. Isn't that defeating the purpose of getting this item in the first place??
No that is not how this works. This creates a WiFi network that your devices can use to communicate.
If you want that network to have Internet, the router can also connect to another WiFi network to share that internet, but your devices stay on its own WiFi network.
Imagine if you go somewhere that charges a fee per connected device for internet. You can connect the router (1 device), but that router will share that internet to many other devices using its own WiFi network.
Do you have to pay a subscription?
Hello. This is a router that provides a local WiFi network and allows you to connect to another WiFi network to share internet on to your network. This does not provide Internet on its own. So no there are no subscriptions.
Does thus have unlimited data
This only provides a wifi network. This is not an internet service provider. To receive internet, you need to have this device connect to an existing wifi network with internet or a cellular hotspot.
Do this serve as the router or do you need to connect to one
This is a router. I will create a wifi network for your devices to communicate. If you want internet, you need to connect to an internet source. The benefit of this device is that the internet source can be another wifi network.
