    A few years ago, I pulled up to a stop light and saw a yellow object in the street. I put my car in park and went over to the object to find a Dewalt DCF885 (no joke). Brought it home, and found it to be fully functional which included it being in pretty good cosmetic shape. I still have that same 885; however, I liked it so much, I bought two more. All three are used by me regularly and all still work perfectly.

      I found one too pretty much the same way. I was at the local hardware store to buy screws when out of the corner of my eye I saw something yellow. Some idiot left like 30 dewalts, makitas, Bosch and others just sitting on the shelf. I couldn't believe my luck. I guess someone else found them before me and tried to fasten them down with a little black cord but they should have gotten them when they first found them because I took a bolt cutter off the wall and loaded them up into a large tote that I bought. The store owner must have been the one who originally found them because when he saw me walking towards the door with them he yelled 'stop' and gave chase but he was no where near quick enough. Sometimes you just get lucky. They looked brand new like they were just out of the box and most still had the price tags. They were literally just sitting on the shelf almost as if on display.

    I got this in a bundle before Sears closed down it was on sale with a drill, 1/4 impact, 2 batteries and charger with bag for $100. 7 years later its still running like a champ my brothers step daughter crashed a Honda left if it on the floor axles, control arms and rack and pinion broken removed it all with this impact with no problems. It's very powerful. Will run it till it dies and I'll probably buy another one.

    • @TheBootyWrangler
      @TheBootyWrangler 2 роки тому

      Brushed dewalt anything - I can’t even tell it’s brushed unless I use it in the dark or sniff it in use (don’t do that it gives you a bad headache). You get so much out of them and they just keep on running. Dewalt really does the brushless good and keeps it relevant. It’a a nice reminder that brushed doesn’t mean bad.

    This particular one is often preferred over the newer 887 that anecdotally have been observed smoking... Contractors swear by them similar to what you say about being robust, reliable and now days less expensive than the newer ones. And professional contractors, if you can imagine the blasphemy do NOT care if it is brushed. I just got one new in box for $61 bucks American on Ebay. I have a major deck project and will be doing an informal personal test comparison. I have the 797? that came in a kit.

    • @Redfour5
      @Redfour5 3 роки тому +2

      @@hammerandhome I actually have all three and I just worked on the project and was putting a couple of hundred two inch screws into cross members on shutters. I tried them all and ended up using the 885 and preferring it. I started with the 887 on 1 and it stopped half way in. I then tried mode 2 and it worked but...and three put them in...but in using the 885, I find that it delivers power differently than the 887 and it is more satisfying. The variable control is very accomodating and easy to get a feel for and allows all the control I need. I almost see the modes as unneeded bells and whistles. If you need level one, use a screwdriver either manual or battery. Two is so what. I suppose if you were anal and wanted your screw tip exactly even then maybe it would give you some level of distinction and three is OK but I love the feel of the 885. I am almost certain that the handle is ever so slightly smaller round than the 887. The 787 is a good basic impact driver sort and any homeowner should get but if you got batts and can get an 885 for 51 bucks off of Ebay, why? The 787 is sort of an 885 light but with a brushless motor... I worked with all three and ended up using the 885 and it will be my go to. This is subjective but my choice.

    • @hammerandhome
      @hammerandhome  3 роки тому +2

      I would go with the 885, I found the atomic to be slow, the atomic is brushless so it will last longer than the 885, but when i compare the two side by side i prefer the 885.

    • @twinbee4243
      @twinbee4243 2 роки тому +2

      In my opinion or preference, I'd rather get the DCF809 Atomic VERSUS the DCF885 for $99 deal at the Home Depot, 809 Atomic is brushless you don't have to worry about replacing it's carbon brushes the motor will run forever and also depends on how you use your impact driver. Being Impact Driver meaning Only for Driving Fasteners, but NOT meant for Paddle bit Drilling. You can use impact driver to drill pilot holes no bigger than 5/16th of an inch. I don't use impact to drill using paddle bits that's stupid and dumb. For that specific job I use Hammer Drill. Now for DCF885 that unit is good. It's been proven for years. You can choose the DCF885 if you know how to replace carbon brushes of a tool. But in my opinion I'd rather get the DCF885 because it's made in the USA 🇺🇲

    Практически каждый день использую, безотказно пашет и закручивает практически что угодно и куда угодно. Либо просто сорвет бошку самореза, либо закрутит.
    Пережил 3, вроде падения с высоты в районе 2 метров. Комплектная батарея все еще живее всех живых. На момент, когда ему было около года вкрутил штук 200 саморезов в штукатуренную стену без подзарядки. Сейчас может уже разрядится, но ощутимой деградации батареи, в принципе, нету.
    А еще с насадкой под сверла можно продырявить кирпич 6мм сверлом, если уж очень понадобится.
    Единственная проблема, которая появилась примерно пол года назад - это битодержатель. Иногда бита либо застревает в нем, либо не влазит. Но это мелочи. Он уже отработал свою стоимость раз 100.

    Dcf887 is not worth a dam . I grab my DCF895 on the truck .
    I find the 887 is to fast and or pulses out . Gets urges of power

      The DCF887 is a year old used it five times. It stopped working except the lighting. Tried 2 full charged batteries. It quit removing a 10mm nut.
