    I like both 2317 & 3254. Of the two I like them for different reasons. I really wish that 2317 could make a mainline trip sometime because too see her at speed(50-60mph) would truly be magnificent. She wasn't meant for 30mph rails.
    For 3254, she is great for Steamtown. Her driving wheels turn faster at slower speeds. That is what I like about her.
    It will be exciting to see 26's return and the debut of 3713 in the near future.

    • @gabetrain8834

      Their both he’s so you know, not being rude, 2317s my personal favorite cause I grew up watching it and continue to watch it to this day. It’s sad the CN 3254 wont run ever again, but in my opinion, anything can be fixed

    • @thomasweekley9209
      @thomasweekley9209 2 роки тому

      @@gabetrain8834 not to sound rude, but there are two reasons that Steamtown say that 3254 will never run again. 1) her frame is bent from a wreck she had years ago from which she wasn’t repaired properly, and 2) her boiler is in really bad shape (it leaks like a siv). Her boiler could be repaired but her frame apparently can’t. Sorry man

  • @atsfevan0242

    Her whistle is really beautiful I'd loved to see her in person but sadly she's no longer operational also it's a shame she no longer runs cause she's waiting restoration at steamtown just like 3254 I just hope she'll be up and running again some day

    • @nicholasmedovich8691
      @nicholasmedovich8691 5 років тому +1

      Evan's Megazord Reviews 3254 will not be restored due to a cracked frame. However, 3377 might be after 3713. But that’s my opinion.

    • @atsfevan0242
      @atsfevan0242 5 років тому +1

      @@nicholasmedovich8691 I'm pretty sure 3254 will steam again one day plus 2317 is said to be worked on after 3713 is complete and should be competed by 2021 and besides sure 3254's frame is bent anything can be fixed if you throw alot of money at it

    • @gabetrain8834
      @gabetrain8834 3 роки тому

      It’s possible the wheels were slipping, not normal to see them spin that fast going that speed

    Well Steamtown has enough trouble with just 3254 and 2317.. They surely couldn't manage 4 different steamers at Steamtown. 2317's downfall is that it derails almost yearly..

  • @PRR4000
    @PRR4000 12 років тому +2

    No, they were not "designed" to, but easily could without problems... It was just better to face forward back in the day because it was easier for the crew to look forward. They could easily go that fast in reverse without problems. You do realize the reverse mechanism works by moving the eccentric valve to the other side, thus sending steam into the other port and moving in the opposite direction, right? It's the same thing only the rods are going in a different direction.

    • @trainern8
      @trainern8 5 років тому +2

      It's kind of up in the air at this point. The primary goal is 3713 right now, which should be done within the next 3 years. After that another will go in. Right now the tentative plan is 3377 (nearly identical to 3254). Once that is done we could see 2317, but both 3377 and 2317 are so far out anything could happen.

    • @johnbaptist1928
      @johnbaptist1928 5 років тому +1

      trainern8 3713 has been 3 years out to completion for as long as I can remember, and it’s required major funding by a local nonprofit to help get it this far. Feds aren’t too interested in restoring these guys. Just look around the rest of the yard there. It’s sad.
