CN #3254’s Out-Of-Tune Whistle be like: 1980s: “It sounds awful, better get some proper tuning.” Or “Sounds odd, but with the echoes it sounds really cool!” Nowadays: “Hey, it’s that one train whistle from that thing! The thing with the kids! The Cartoon!” Or “Now where have I heard that whistle before?” You get the idea.
That idea will never catch on with its current whistle. Unless you want to make an SFX of that whistle perfectly synced to the said 1980s whistle, like what that one bozo did with CN 6520’s K3L. (I mean: ua-cam.com/video/O1ecQb_VhsM/v-deo.html)
@@kaseyleitchnextgen3281 Of course I know that the whistle was replaced in 1990 with a more accurate 5 chime whistle. It obviously didn’t last too long. Also, why would anyone hate on this whistle? It’s a classic! For a generic train whistle…
When 3254 was dressed up as 1271 in 87, this is the sound the whistle made. A CN steptop 5 chime, BUT two of the chimes were out of key. That’s why it sounded strange.
Yea, with two of the longer chimes not singing and the other three squealing. She wasn't tuned right. They got her back in tune a bit later on, but she sounded like crap here. That's not the way a CN 5 chime should sound. If anything it sounds closer to a Chinese 5.
@@steamandsmoke97 actually CN 4-6-2s have that same simular sound. I have Canadian steam 1958. And surprisingly thats exactly what the whistle sounded like
No 26 was pulling 3254 into the roundhouse as she’s the yard goat there and did that and still does but I think they did double headers at times still cool tho
Nice, more video of Steamtown in the early NPS period. Interesting to see the site during this period, since it looks so different than how it is today. Also, that's an interesting Hooter whistle on the 26. It sounds a bit like engine #475 in Strasburg.
I may be the only one thinking that, but I think they should bring that whistle back to ol' 3254. I simply like it! Sure it sounds "generic" for have been featured in many medias(hell, even I'm using it for my animation projects), but it still sounds good to me.
Well, sadly 3254 has been retired. I think this whistle wasn't tuned right then, or maybe it was, I have no idea, but it sounds drastically different from when she last ran in 2012, but it definently sounds like the same whistle. It probably shouldn't sound this way.
From Steamtown yes indeed. If there is another tourist line it can go to to being rebuilt for operation, so be it. Donate it by any means necessary. It was NOT an original Steamtown locomotive. Again. Only locations IMHO I can think of for donating her are A&A, AOSR, Allentown Auburn RR, NH&I, W&W, and WK&S. Again my opinions.
@@nicholasmedovich8691 What about Strasburg? They already have two other CN locomotives, it would be cool to see them expand their fleet of Canadian power.

You were in Kingsley, why didn't you get a shot of the Kingsley bridge? You got a shot of the Nicholson bridge from the cemetery, you could have gotten a shot of the Kingsley bridge from the PennDOT maint. shed on route 11 right under the bridge in Kingsley. That bridge never gets any video.
Because I got to Kingsley after the train did. It had already crossed the bridge. I wasn’t particularly interested in filming it drifting, tender first.
@@amtrak_121 she's always had the same whistle, so yes. This is her original whistle. At least, as far as we know. It was the whistle that she had on when she went to Gettysburg, at least.
She has been retired. Sometime during her active service life, she collided with a Great Northern locomotive. As a result of the collision, she was left with a bent frame and was a rough rider. I can attest to that, having ridden in her cab once. It felt like she had square wheels. B&M Pacific 3713 is supposed to take her place once it’s been restored. (They’ve been restoring it since the dawn of time.) Don’t hold your breath. Steamtown is as hapless and hopeless as the rest of the federal government.

It really is hard to believe that the Whistle sound effect that was used in countess TV shows, movies, games and other pieces of media came from 3254.
