Pick up a mech pack if you don't still have your old ones and rope a friend into a game of Alpha Strike! Or, you can fire up MegaMek, or you can use the solo rules on the r/battletech subreddit. Just search up "ai tabletop battletech reddit" on google. At the very most basic you can just play against yourself in a scenario like breakthrough and the AI rules would be "run to a defensive position towards map edge and shoot closest target if possible." You'd score points based on the number of mechs your forces destroyed and lose points based on the number of mechs that escaped.
Been looking forward to this. Great job. Enjoyed the tightening of the mech introductions. Nice addition to terrain. Additional camera work appreciated. Game flow was smooth and entertaining as always. Bravo.

Oh, I had an idea about your questions about broken troops rallying (it was on another vid, but I thought of it whilst watching this one, sorry for the confusion but I can't recall which batrep your original discussion was on). Make rallying an action that an unbroken unit can do to rally a broken unit: *Rally:* Instead of making a weapon attack, this unit rallies a broken unit (including themselves) on the table. The selected unit may make an immediate Morale roll, with the following modifications to the TN: +1 for each friendly unit destroyed +1 for each critical hit the 'mech has received, or location destroyed (whichever is greater). +1 if rallying themself +1 for being rallied by an *inferior* officer (eg. a mechwarrior attempting to rally their lance commander). Add an additional +1 (max +3) for the difference of command level between the two units (so a company commander being rallied by a 'mechwarrior would be at +2 difficulty). -1 if the broken unit is out of LOS of enemy units -1 if the unit has taken no damage in the last turn -1 if the unit has not been shot at in the last turn -1 if being rallied by a superior officer (eg. a mechwarrior being rallied by a lance commander, lance commander being rallied by a company commander, etc). Add an additional -1 for each step up the chain of command the rallying officer is, to a maximum of -3. Note this additional modifier only counts if the superior is in the broken unit's direct chain of command (eg. if you had a company commander rallying a 'mechwarrior from another company, they would only grant a +1 to the rally roll instead of +2, asn they're not the unit's commanding officer). ********************************************************************************************************************** You might have already thought of a system that works for you, but feel free to try the above out if you feel it's got merit.

Wow, you guys have the most amazing terrain and scenery to play on! 😍 Any chance you can do some videos on how you set up for the battle reports and the mats, terrain and buildings you guys use?
Thanks 😁 we do have a video in our “hobby tutorials” that shows how we get the basic grid set up - def check that out - and over the next month I’ll be putting out some vids on specific terrain vendors like Hardware and Xmarx!
Who! Awesome setup, would love to see more Frr soon or even Ghost Bear Dominion ( after the merger with Frr, 3060 ) and even Rasalhague Dominion ( name change 3103 ) vs some faction line the Draconis Combine, Blakists etc
Hardware Studios for the buildings, Xmarx for some of the scatter terrain... others as well. I’ll be doing some terrain vids soon so keep an eye out for that! 👍
Zombie comment but I wanted to say I love this mission. Watching this I wondered if you could tweak the dynamic of the mission by making the markers less predictable. Maybe something like: whenever the markers move, the force which has them in their half can - but doesn't have to - choose to remove any one marker from play. If all markers are removed, game is over. I might need to try this out!
Rewatching a lot of these Battle Reports and am wondering where you got your light poles? There is a ton of options on amazon but curious if you know which specific brand and size you have?
These are limostudio… they are inexpensive and did a nice job for us. However I did just upgrade to LED panels. You’ll see those pop up after the current campaign is done. More expensive but better/even light and waaay more compact!
Question. Why is Clan Ghost Bear not starting the game using zellbrigen? It would limit their tech advantage until IS become Dezgra. This early in the invasion the clans had not abandon their honor code.
Thanks for watching! The answer really comes down to balance... the “tech advantage” is already paid for in PV. Imposing additional restrictions would nerf the clans, and they already have their challenges. Check out some of the other batreps and you’ll see them get massacred haha. But if I had to narrate my way out of this, the ELH *definitely* did some dezgra stuff during their hit and run 😁
Haha someone else said the same thing... I thought left-to-right was more intuitive (to me at least!). You are saying top-to-bottom (deployment zones) is better for that cam?
I can't get over how terrible the Wasp is D: EDIT: to be fair, Wasp is actually an okay design (especially for it's times - early Mech implementation). She does her job, she scouts, she jumps, she outshoots Locusts, she hops away from anything bigger than Commando. But Wasp is absolutely not intended to be used against anything remotely heavier than itself. And it shows.
Just adding my 2 cents. Like what you have done with the reports, makes it feel like you are there 'live' in person. I'm currently (re)building my terrain collection, still some way to go to get to the level you have on display though.
Do you played the SNARC rule right? It says that you only get +1 damage for every SRM/LRM/IF attack. The Summoner has to made a special LRM2/2/2 attack to get +1 damage -> total 3 damage.
The verbiage isn’t clear to me, and we agreed (especially in the context of classic) that anything with the LRM/SRM ability or making an IF attack should get the NARC buff. This also seems to be in-line with AMS... I think if you take a more literal interpretation of the rule, you are likely correct - but I have a hard time beliving that was the intention because if you arent playing special ammo its entirely useless - you wouldn’t otherwise make an LRM/SRM attack. Interested in your thoughts.
Hey guys, thanks for your response. I've read all thr rulesections intensively snd you are right. It is quit simple: the rulesection about the LRM special ability say that you can swap your standard attack against a special attack. With this special attack your are able to use alternate munitions. There is no sign that you use a different damage value like the LRM 2/2/2 or that you have to use alternative munitions. So you only swap your standard attack to a LRM special attack with no negative effects and then the narc bonus comes to bear.
These videos always make me wish there were more terrain craft videos for Battletech scale. Most of what's out there is for either model railroads stuck in Americana 30's-60's or historical wargames. Not a whole lot for a sci-fi setting.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming What's the possibility of getting a video of tools of the trade and how to obtain them? i.e. dice, rulers, markers, paper and neoprene maps, dice tray, and props for the map. Anything else to make the game more immersive. Thanks!

Our website has lots of free content as well (reference sheets, etc) and definitely check out the how to play series as well!
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Yes. Once. And then watched alot of videos like these to see if I did something wrong. But much like I loathe dumbed down console games, I dislike the oversimplification of things in this version. Yes, it allows for faster, bigger battles but it has in now way the same depth as the classic rules. But I guess it is just a matter of preference. And before you ask. I have been a huge battletech fan since the eighties.
I think AS is a step in the right direction for the game. Most people simply don’t have entire weekends to devote to playing a game that requires an exorbitant amount of book-keeping. I grew up playing Classic - it’s a unique game and phenomenal in the 90s - but it’s rules are dated and lack the streamlining of other modern wargames - and that is important when you need to keep a franchise thriving in the age of XBox and Playstation. You are totally right, its a preference thing. But I see it a little differently: Alpha isn’t “dumbed down” rather Classic is “more complex than average”. That said, I wouldn’t mind a little more depth in AS - especially something to further differentiate units (crit tables, damage, range)... but the level of “simulation” in Classic isn’t scalable or suited to the next generation of gamers. My 2 cents! 🙂
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming I guess it depends what you are looking for. Personally I never found classic to be overburdening. Then again, we played regularly and after a while the playing pace picked up because we knew the rules by heart.
The new rules seem to have faster game play which is good. Only thing I'm missing is the amount of damage the weapons themselves do and at what part of the mech. Sorta a disappointment where double AC/20's from a King Krab hit, but they only do two points of damage. Unless I'm missing something here. All an all, still a really good game.
Yah it’s definitely missing a little bit - give & take. That “instant kill” capability of some of the big guns like AC20s is one of the things I miss for sure... but you get some of that back with the OV ability as well, so doling out 5 points of damage can be pretty severe.
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming I can tell. This is a great way to get new players into TT Battletech. I do have a suggestion though unless you're already doing and I'm missing this info. Maybe in the description down below or in the video's credits, could you post what music you're using during the mission intro/briefing? I already posted another comment in your Oct. 18th, video asking what the song is. They all are just SO good for the kinds of games I play.
There is a mix of music from our own album - which you can find on all major streaming platforms, itunes, youtube, amazon, etc - and some older stuff from the MechWarrior 2 games. Just ask Alexa to play songs from Death From Above Wargaming, and google the MW2 soundtracks 👍
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming Unfortunately I don't have most of the above platforms and I tried running a search on UA-cam and couldn't find your album mix. I did have a MW 2 soundtrack saved, but couldn't find the song you used in this video.
I agree with Kevin, home units are always more fun Also, watching this while building an entire Galaxy for Clan Star Adder on MekHQ (alt 3050 where CSA was one of the Invading Clans). Remind me never to do this again, fucking making sure all pilots are atleast 3/4 or better and making sure all ranks are correct... I’m only on the 2nd Cluster (1 Command Trinary and 1 Assault Cluster (3 Trinary + 2 Battle Suit Stars) are done and the one I’m working on is the 3rd Fang Cavaliers which is 5 Trinarys (1 Command Star, 6 Heavy Cavalry Stars, 2 Heavy Recon Stars, 2 Cavalry Stars, 1 Fire Star, 1 Recon Star, 1 Urban Star & 1 Probe Star) + 2 Battle Suit Stars and 3 Aerospace Stars)) ... tis a fun project but... keep the videos coming so I have something to watch/listen to while doing this
The voiced over Intros would really fit nicely into a MechWarrior Game. SPOILERS INC.... - - - - - Fantastic battle. I must really say, I don't know if I should feel bad as I rooted for the Clans here, but I really thing Lady Luck wasn't exactly smiling at Kevin in the last battles, to say the least.
Hmm. Accent is problematic. What would a Swedenese accent sound like? :) Have to add, the Hammerhands would have been an antique at the time of the Clan Invasion. That must have been a literal museum piece!
Heyo friendly neighborhood douche bag here with more unsolicited feedback. The Over head camera...turn it 90 degrees. as it is now can see either players table edge but I cant see the full "length" of the map and I think to get full effects of having that camera youd want us to see the full length of the map. (edit I thought you were on a 6x4 map and not a 4x4. That being said I think see it at that changed 90 degrees may still be more aesthetic?)

Fair enough!! And hey, if its BattleTech, I’m happy. Thanks for watching and appreciate your opinions on all of this 🙂👍
The new rules seem to have faster game play which is good.
Our album is on the shelf of our channel page - just scroll down and it’s there! As for MW2, check the MW2 and Ghost Bear Legacy sound tracks also.
Hey. I voted for evening! Now I’m not gonna get anything done at work. 😂
LOL
Despite my poll vote, I couldn't wait until Friday night.
Haha I already precounted your vote 😛
I agree with Kevin, home units are always more fun
Also, watching this while building an entire Galaxy for Clan Star Adder on MekHQ (alt 3050 where CSA was one of the Invading Clans).
Remind me never to do this again, fucking making sure all pilots are atleast 3/4 or better and making sure all ranks are correct... I’m only on the 2nd Cluster (1 Command Trinary and 1 Assault Cluster (3 Trinary + 2 Battle Suit Stars) are done and the one I’m working on is the 3rd Fang Cavaliers which is 5 Trinarys (1 Command Star, 6 Heavy Cavalry Stars, 2 Heavy Recon Stars, 2 Cavalry Stars, 1 Fire Star, 1 Recon Star, 1 Urban Star & 1 Probe Star) + 2 Battle Suit Stars and 3 Aerospace Stars))
... tis a fun project but... keep the videos coming so I have something to watch/listen to while doing this
Haha sounds tedious but I totally get the allure 😁
I've gotta say it!
43 seconds of logos!
Home from work Rye and water READY .
Put your feet up and enjoy!
So nobody showed up with beer and pizza it looks like.
No pizza, no beer. I really want some pizza rn tbh.
The voiced over Intros would really fit nicely into a MechWarrior Game.

Fantastic battle. I must really say, I don't know if I should feel bad as I rooted for the Clans here, but I really thing Lady Luck wasn't exactly smiling at Kevin in the last battles, to say the least.
Haha yah for sure! I think overall this was balanced (luck wise)... he just out played me with that Clan speed!
Comment for the algorithm!
UA-cam is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits 😆

Hmm. Accent is problematic. What would a Swedenese accent sound like? :)
Have to add, the Hammerhands would have been an antique at the time of the Clan Invasion. That must have been a literal museum piece!
Or you know, just a cool model we wanted to use.
5 min in and 3 commercial breaks.......not looking good.
Noticed also an increase of commercials on yt generally.
@@Schugger1 yeah, YT really wants you to buy into their premium service.

LOL ... so you are saying have the top and bottom be deployment edges?
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming essentially yes.
I may need to take this to a poll 😆
@@DeathfromAboveWargaming its not so much a thing on 4x4 but if you do a 6x4 it may be a thing to keep in mind is all im saying.
Makes sense and I appreciate the input!!

Love it
Great video, thanks as always 👍
