That pianist. Oh my god.
That pianist! Whoa. The whole group sounds amazing!!!
That pianist.
Love the way Zoe Abadia uses the middle and lower register of the alto and her natural yet controlled phrasing...beautiful penetrating sound. She is a real talent and a star on the rise. Although this was done in 2014 and iam hearing this for the first time in 2019!
I challenge anyone to sound good in front of an important audience. With this talent they can become themselves later. I would be scared stiff.
Dude, I will remember the name Coleman Hughes. He is now my new hero. Nothing complicated, just great. I an humbled and I have a new hero
Me too! 4:15 blew me off my feet.
Ig start at 4:07 for context
Now hes testifying before congress
man is a political commentator and journalist now!
Isaiah Thompson the pianist is one to watch
Isaiah J Thompson. Really good! See this: ua-cam.com/video/oBm5bGxA_7E/v-deo.html
Manz just got 2nd at the Monk International Piano Competition
Beautiful sax playing, I'm definitely going to have to transcribe some of her lines! All the musicians here are absolutely mind-blowing
Was really waiting for that guitar solo
She is lovely
This group are "Fabulous" ! All fine players, any? Bad comments should be ignored !
Fun to hear young people groovin'
This swings so hard
Nice piano!
To all those ragging on the sax player, I wonder if you are influenced by the visuals (i.e she is not 'looking' like she is getting into it. Just listen to her playing, which is fine; she has good technique. Ears, not eyes.
Greg Jones No. her playing is boring and uninteresting.
Vibratos, moving if you look closely, unique tone, crazy solo. What's not good about that? Like you can do better. She right now plays at Julliard with that same feel and even subs in for jazz at lincoln center, so...
Greg your so right. She an incredible talent. Probably only 15 or 16 years old when this was done in 2014. In 2017 she got a Temperly scholarship to Julliard! She has a beautiful deep sound and understanding of how to improvise and construct her lines.
Zoe has graduated from julliard spring 2018 and was picked by wynton marsalis to be in a quintet of her piers to play at art blakeys 100th birthday celebration in new york!!
Her playing definitely should not be undermined. But one should also recognize that performing is about entertaining too
Superb to say the least thank God for the next generation.
One of the best bands ever assembled.
💙💙💙💙
Beautifully done. Kudos 👏👏👏
Magnficent. Thank you to all of you.
Excelente!
The young lady has great promise. She shredded her solo. A work of art.
Yeahaa !
sax player has a wonderful velvet tone
👏👏👏👏😍😍😍

Why Kobe Bryant is playing the trombone?
Sergio Barroso
🤣🤣🤣
Oh, Oh no, RIP
is this me or horns are out of tune?
raphael aurand not at all. You see just tone deff
Nah they kinda are
Nate Gilbreath alto is a bit flat unfortunately
the piano guy will be that fat black guy who can't even stand in 40 years, but he'll play like heaven. I guarantee it.
Jesus lol quite a bit of butthurt people trying to bring down the sax player... They're kids for god's sake. I wish I was that musically accomplished when I was 15. All of a sudden everyone's a musical mastermind and a bitter critic who thinks that having a keyboard to type on is some sort of a granted authority . If the fact that you didn't have much of an achievement when you were in high school is the driving force behind the bitterness, it's not too late. Do something productive and build yourself up! At least they're contributing to the art and the society..... you know, playing for actual people sharing something valuable lol.
Was this good? I don't know? Did I like it? I don't know? I don't think I did. I think I thought it was awful? Jees I just don't know if I like jazz at all. At least I can turn it off, I think.
why are people shitting on 16 year olds doing stuff that they'll never get to do. playing in front of more people than they'll ever play in their life. getting more views on youtube than people ever meet in their life time. faith in humanity is low
That sheets of paper in front of musicians are terrible. There is absolutely no energy.
Sax is a bit flat otherwise really nice
Lose the brass!
The sax player needs to play with more feeling, this is awful.
I'm not so sure... I like her tone. It's somewhat unique.
"...w more feeling... awful" ?&? Look I know these things are subjective, so I don't want to say you are wrong but I think you are uninformed. If your impulse is to compare this 15 - 18 yr old to Cannonball, or Arthur Blythe, or Kenny Garrett or whoever your faves are of course she comes up lacking. HOWEVER stylistically she is not even expressing that tradition as she is manifestly expressing the old West Coast jazz tradition of Lee Konitz, Paul Desmond, Art Pepper, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Chet Baker and so on. Have you even heard of those guys ??? If you had, you'd realize she is very very gifted in that pursuit and has a beautiful feel for cool jazz. Yes, maybe not smooth jazz or hard bop. Yet.
I am wrong, you are right, I am sorry.
Your good! You aren't wrong too state your own opinion!
landon bennett what do u mean with "feeling?" do u mean more style?
Sax has great tone quality but intonation is awful
Sorry but the Sax player is bad! Sounds even worse than a Keyboard 🎹 no soul in her performance!
If you say she is good, then I’m 100% non of you are musicians!
Exactly
Vibratos, moving if you look closely, unique tone, crazy solo. What's not good about that? Like you can do better. She right now plays at Julliard with that same feel and even subs in for jazz at lincoln center, so...
I’m a professional musician. I studied jazz composition at berklee. They sound good and you should be glad that there are young people keeping jazz alive. They’re kids. Why the harshness?
David Warner we all had to learn 😉
Im a musician, and I say she is good. Damn good...what now dude? lol
