Update: Zoe Abadia has been chosen by Wynton Marsalis from Jazz At Lincoln Center to perform with four other young musicians at Art Blakeys 100th birthday celebration on May 1st and 2nd at The Rose Theater at 8:pm in new york. Isaiah Thompson is now performing (featured) with Wynton Marsalis Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (see youtube)...congratulations to these young talents!!!
I know that Joe Henderson is dancing in heaven after hearing and seeing such spectacular young professional musicians play one of his tunes, THAT'S culture and tradition. GREAT, JUST GREAT !!!!
This is the third or fourth time i've watched this. Great trombone from coleman and piano from isaiah but zoe's solo sounds better the more i listen to it. I love how she creates tension in her solo by tongueing the notes slightly behind the beat to create tension and letting the phrase develop naturally. Also she uses the middle and lower register to get a stronger sound. She may look like there is no effort but she is fully aware of what she is doing..thinking carefully how she is developing her solo. Iam really impressed. She is soon to become a major player!...and this was done in 2014 when she was only 15 or 16? She went on to The Manhattan School of Music. It's 2019 now and the last i heard she received a Temperly Scholarship to Julliard in 2017!! The best of luck to her...a real talent!!
@@kevinmurphy3307 I know Kevin. Another talent is Veronica Leahy. She has a youtube channel. Check out her solos on "kirklands tune" and "giant steps". Pretty amazing! Thanks to (NGJO) Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and YounArts Foundation for nutureing all this young jazz talent from across america!
@@alansenzaki4148 Ive been playing professionally for many many yrs, a band leader for 30. THIS warms my heart and inspires simultaneously. Thanks for the heads up Alan re. Veronica, Im on it ! Cheers !
@@kevinmurphy3307 your welcome Kevin. Last i heard Zoe is also a substitute at Jazz at Lincoln Center...don't mean to be nosey but i googled your name. Are you the keyboardist from St. Paul ?. If so it's funny but i was born (1944) and raised in Minneapolis and grew up listening to Leigh Kamman's jazz program on KPOL! Went to Washburn high.Started listening to this great art form when i was fourteen.
This was so many things...Heartwarming inspiring, everyone of these kids playing like they meant that sh^t and they were already veterans of many many Soul Crusades ...Old Souls?!...Ya think?!
This is _awesome!_ Coleman Hughes is the greatest trombone-playing public intellectual in the English-speaking world, the bassist totally shocked me (it's *hard* to play the double bass with small hands!) but I reserve the highest praise for the pianist and his abundant chops.
Ok, so if Coleman gets canceled someday for his outstanding work as a social commentator/philosopher/podcaster, he can still go back to be one of the FREAKIN‘ GREATEST TROMBONISTS LIVING TODAY!! 🤯🫢🦄
COLEMAN HUGHES killing the jass just as hard as he kills philosophy!
I didn't realize he was this good at trombone. So talented!
Coleman is the fucking man
He definitely IS!@@MajorasMaskMailman
Kills the jazz just as hard as he kills The View.

He is now (2019) a featured soloist with wynton marsalis jazz at lincoln center orchestra! Congratulations to isaiah!

I love how the jazz house kids are always sticking together even if it means getting into young arts. :)
That bass solo is simply inspirational
Zoe Obadiah is slept on

Damn... as if I couldn't like Coleman any better and I find this today
Anyone else notice how there's no sheet music on the drummers stand, but he still glances over at it every once in a while.

Fantastic Bass Player!
All great solos but Zoe Abadia has a beautifully conceived and improvised solo...and a killer solo on the second song tin tin deo..What a talent!!
SENSATIONAL !!!!!!

Coleman Hughes is one cool cat.
muito bom!!
Give the guitar kid a solo, for Christ's sake!
No guitar solo??
That trombone player was just named one of Forbes 30 under 30
Holy shit, I thought that looked like Coleman! lol
Yep, correct, that’s him.
Okay but who's the drummer?
Julius Rodriguez, he is also an incredible pianist
Killer group
here after jre
By the way, trombone player's AFRO looks just right for this music. Should play Afro Blues.
There is NOT a look for playing jazz, imbecile.
Do not watch the score to do adlib.
What??
