- Budget K Swap Turbo Civic Rips!
By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie
OK, last time was a bit of a let down. When we went to the dyno our K23 turbo head-K20 bottom end combination spit oil all over the crank side and couldn't be tuned. So, with just a base tune we took our Civic hatchback back to the shop to take a closer look. Scot and Brian (No, the other one.) poured over the wet side of the engine to find the source and fix it. You know what that means! It's time to take Budget EG for a couple pulls. We find out if the half radiator is up to the task of cooling our hot tamale hybrid and make some sweet turbo noises.

Thanks, broski!!
Omg! This my new favorite channel. (HONDATA)
Let's go!
She’s a ripper! Great stuff. Now we need cooler weather out here and you will make another 20 hp! 😂
You got that right!
Yes yes yes!
I can't wait to see this dialed in on the dyno
Yeah, plus we can get an idea of what this combo actually makes. It’s a big bump from the TSX head on the CR-V block for sure.
Great stuff man and happy late bday my man!
Thanks, Ramon!
coming from Aussies' crazy channel whom you helped with your mounts :)
Thanks for coming
@@VTECAcademy you, sir, seem to be not only a connoisseur, but a passion-driven driver also 😉
Good luck to you !
Awesome build
Thanks! Now on to the dyno to see what it actually makes.
I still think it's neat watching you guys on video.🤘🏼🌞🤘🏼
AWESOME....
Compasion at it's finest
Brian, it's time for an ACUiTY RSX Shifter! 💜
That would be cool!
Always great stuff
K23/K24 would be a tq beast
That's the plan!
Nice one bois 👌 sutututu
Sooo ummm,… where y’all at? I’ve been following this k23 build since last year and WAAITIN to see what it could do. 300 would be nuts
Do you guys have the wiring diagram for the jumper posted somewhere
Is there an ongoing essential parts list anywhere?
Nice work per usual. Any updates on the 8th gen civic??
Not yet
Would this head fit the K24a1 and A4? Ill have to rewatch the videos and refresh my memory
Yes, and the K24Z
It strangely sounds like the k20c1 in my FK8. lol
Hey Vtec academy. I really love to know what it would take. For a 2019 acura ilx with the k24V7 and 8speed along with its brakes since theyre bigger and swapping it into A 2017 honda civix LX 6spd manual.
Do you guys have any plans to do a K20 head on a k24z bottom end? Would love to see a how to video
I do. Not sure when though. BTW it is a direct bolt on. I believe MotoIQ did one.
How can I get a hold of brian n y'all to k swap my 98 civic??
vtec.academy(a)gmail.com
Damn did anybody see how much the turbos are for those things used $800
We pulled ours out of a salvage yard.
@@VTECAcademy thank you
Trying to put a Honda FR-V 6 speed transmission (JTW5) in to a 2002 Honda integra I need some advice on how to wire the speed sensor using a stock manual ecu. The transmission has a CSS and the stock ecu uses a VSS. Any advise
Dakota Digital universal speedometer adapter
So that motor setup is $1000 or have they blown up since this video?
The civic getting more love than the Fit :(
The Fit is getting AC and daily driver duty.
@@VTECAcademy Would love to see the AC solution!
So is k23 not a typo?
Are you able to implement the RDX boost solenoids on this or WG spring pressure only? Stock WG is 7-7.5psi spring pressure, measured it with an air compressor and regulator... TurboSmart IWG-75 and custom mount bracket for WRX platform fits, I run 14psi spring combo setup in mine.👍I have a spare WG bracket I made if you are interested but you could whip something up on your plasma table no problem I'm sure.
Also hoping you guys cover if there are any OEM cams that have a better grind available? Just keep in mind the RDX auto is limited to 7k (probably isn't considering the low redline?) for the rest of us if you guys do cover it.
I'd like to try that. I believe Doug at Hondata has my cam doctor. I'll see if he has tome to do some measuring of cams.
Maybe i should just do this to my dc5. Probably cheaper than a k24 swap
We tried it in a DC5 and it hits the steering rack.
@@VTECAcademy oh well. K24 it is😅
5sfe and 3rz vs k22
Hahahaha “off-brand Brian” 😅 This thing RIPS
Those two dudes look like they're homeless!😂
LMAO
They need women in their lives to tell them how to dress. But they’ll never find them looking like that.
Wait there's a k 23? Lol
Yeap! ua-cam.com/video/smfNwYzG5z0/v-deo.html
86-89 Integra k-swap
Yeah, it could work in that. Use the AFK kit.
