    I think the downfall was locking Mantis in doors. There were several opportunities to replace him with a gunner.

    Wow, you managed to mis-play the strongest possible boarding team into a loss... I'm impressed. In all seriousness, though, this was a really fun run to watch, even if your flagship plays were terrible XD I'd say I agreed with most of your calls before the last sector.

      I think that boarding just isn't spearmintz strength, he's more of a gunship guy.

    evolving to weavers reduces combat damage. but gives them 1.5x repair speed. Spiders are boarders, weavers are maintainers.

    I think not getting the weapon speed upgrades was a big miss, you could have easily got all three and reduced the weapon charge down massively. I think the burst would have went down to like 15 16 seconds. A pretty huge difference considering.

      It hypothetically reduces the cooldown to roughly 14 seconds, 11 seconds with fully trained gun crew. So yeah. It starts shooting mad fast.
      (Was talking about the Burst 4's cooldown btw.)

    I just love watching the spiders gnaw away at the ship. Great run :D
    Have you used the onboard lab before? on empty beacons you can add some extra features to crew (and the spider ones are pretty crazy)

    The thing with FTL backseating is that im sure spearmintz knows most of this already but in the heat of battle with everything happening at once you end up overlooking things. Its just how it is I can assure you nobody can do a perfect run where people wont look at it and be like "could have done this instead!"

    I’d like to see you use the spider B ship with its 16 crew slots. Overclocked zoltans with spider boys is OP.

    Level 4 teleport would’ve been far better than level 3 with reconstructive teleport. You could’ve gotten your spiders back to destroy their boarding drones and save your weapons room. Also your separatist engi is god tier at stalling boarders with his nano ability and getting engi oxygen immunity from the lab upgrades. Also letting their drones take out your weapons is a bruh moment.

      @@covya Reconstructive and level 4 are exclusive, you can't have both unless you have reconstructive as an external augment.
      Nano already makes you immune to environmental damage including suffocation.

      @@Smargoos it was a joke about the fact that if you save up 9999 scrap (which is basically impossible) you can still upgrade to level 4 teleport via the regular upgrade interface

    And I just keep staring at the Big Ion throughout all of phase 2, wondering when you'll disable half the flagship and kill the 1 crew you wanted to kill with a single tap.
    I think not using the Big L till it was too late was what killed you, if you open with it early, and say, ion the drone control, your weapons never go down to the attack drones, and then you beam over your party to murder the drone control while the enemy crew is stunned, gg, your big weapons can take the rest home.

    Why didn't you use Big Ion to kill last two crewmembers in second phase?!

      When you kill the last member of the enemy crew during the Flagship fight, the O2 system turns off, leaving any boarding crews to suffocate. I also don't believe that he noticed that he had it back until the very end of the fight, which really gave him a bad time when he finally noticed.

    This run had a lot of bruh moments with poor boarding choices, including making weavers instead of keeping them as spiders. There was a god-tier chance on using the Big Iron for some massive crew damage before they jumped over in the first boss phase. With the second boss phase you also fought in medbay and you forgot about the Big Iron, even though you have to jump to his next location, which could've disabled the first boarding drones to give you more breathing room. All around a lot of poor choices, surely lot more to learn about boarding. After closeting the mantis in the door room you barely made use of him as an anti-boarder and instead used your boarding crew which just delayed the damage you could've done so much faster. Could be entertaining if you focused on improving your boarding techniques in coming runs.
    I love the content you put out and hope to see more!

      I also feel spacing his engineer instead of the mantis for Holmes was a mistake since he'd already committed to the spiders for his combat crew and Holmes or the engineer coulda gone on weapons which woulda been more useful

    For future reference, try using the special loot weapons at least once before you consider selling them, mainly because each MV cruiser only drops one weapon unique to them (50% chance on kill, 100% on crewkill), making them extraordinary rare! In other words you might not find that weapon ever again!
    Also NEVER ignore weapons! No matter what ship you're using, weapons are one of the most important systems you can lose! They're what do the most work in the vast majority of your runs.

    Hmm...how to dissect this...? I think the biggest part of your loss here was not getting any of the important internal upgrades in case many situations happened: no breach sealant, no weapon reloaders (Which was your biggest mistake due to weapon array), no fire extinguishers, no zoltan shield bypass (If mainly for the final phase for instant boarding), and likely no onboard lab to help buff up your crew.
    Boarding choices were also a little bit bad, but not horrible; shields was fine especially since all four of your crew can fit into the room to take the shields down quickly...but then you transitioned to the medbay which was a bad choice since it's more better to take down the shields while the enemy tries to heal... Admittedly boarding the missile launcher would've been the best choice to start off with, and then I would've teleported them back and forth to take out either hacking or drones next depending on if the former hacked a pretty important system...but the problem is that you forgo the level 4 teleport in exchange for reconstruction, which again isn't a bad choice but I prefer more on the level 4 teleport because the recharge is instant and thus you could've ignored the blast door issues on enemy ships... Also you should never be afraid to use your hacking drone to hack even if it'll be either shot down by defense drones or stunned by guard drones, it will eventually get through to hack the systems (Remember that Sylvan was able to hack you even with a defense 3 drone last run), and you had like 18 drones chances for that one phase alone...very bad missed opportunity...
    I will admit that both boarding drones targeting your weapons was a massive RNG moment since that they normally go into separate rooms...but then that happened... You should've dealt with the boarding drones first because they were in a very important room since you can't beat the flagship with boarders alone, but then again it would've taken you a much longer time since you didn't have no upgraded medbay to use the medical stimulus upgrade effectively which increases crew speed depending on how much power you put into it (And having Medi-bots would helped nicely too). Personally you should never ever neglect to upgrade the medbay, give it at least level 2 if you're not going to really use it all that much, especially if it'll save you in some situations on beacon choices to save (or gain) your crew.
    The lost did make you lose your chance to get Mantis C, which is very unfortunate since you need that to get both elite version A and B. You could run B up to sector 5 to get C that way...but I would not recommend that since while B doesn't come with a teleporter starting out, and while getting it will be a 4-crew teleporter the fact that your medbay only supports two crew at a time is quite bad, especially when you have to go through a room in order to get to the medbay from teleporter... And I will say this much for one last important thing, though understandable that you don't like playing dedicated boarding ships, it's very important to know that most ships does require you to crew kill in order to unlock certain ship...so you will definitely need practice and get used to boarding if you're ever going to try and unlock all the ships in this mod...

    Small detail, as you noticed the spider stop obeying when you beam them to an ennemy ship and the fight end. I've noticed a similar thing with my own different boarding crew. I had an orchid chieftain which makes others crews in the room immune to suffocation. Also had a lanius in the group so they were always without oxygen. During the fight, it works no problem. Yet the moment the fight ends, while they're still aboard the ennemy ship, they'd start to suffocate. Basically,I'm pretty sure,for some reasons, while your crew is in the ennemy ship after a fight end,some of the crewmember effects don't work. ( in your situation, the spider queen making other spider obey stop working just for that biref period after the fight).
    Also, one thing that could have been done when both the drones got into weapons,which ended up being way too annoying,would have been to just leave the fight and come back. Let you take care of the annoying things and then come back. Of course got to remember doing that while everything's happening
