      Our deal to ensure the US dollar keeps its reserve currency status was to ensure oil flowed to the first world (no recessions). Since China now needs to ship in more oil than any other country, and because of the USA's energy boom, its no longer in AMerican interest to make sure oil flows. In fact, disruption is now both economically and strategically beneficial.
      That will change the nature of all future American wars as there will be now no need to occupy and rebuild.

    "natural gas production in the USA has gone up 80% during fracking" well, actually this is more impressive than it sound. NG production in the USA was a going concern even when oil production was in decline, because the wells where oil was running out still produced NG. When the frac revolution started, NG was essentially a byproduct of oil drilling, and still is. If you want oil, and frack to get it, you get NG whether you like it or not. So the USA got flooded with NG. And a lot of it is simply burned off at the wellhead.

    The price is king. LNG is not only 2-3? times more expensive than russian gas, but its a bit different . Private households would need a change at all things that consume gas. There are no terminals and pipelines from the ports to the cities, because you cant use the other pipelines at the same time. Its not just a switch and Germany uses LNG. also Germany has energy from its own coal (30-40%?) and wishes to move to renewable energy with gas only as a intermediate between the coal and the new kind of energy. Gas will be just a fast safety when sun and wind -energy are low.
    Also Germany received gas from the soviet union for 40-50years without trouble during the biggest crises of the cold war...thats called reliability. Nothing you can say about Trump.

      @@bogdar2019 We just don't need expensive American LNG as we get cheap Natural Gas from Russia. And they are the most reliable provider even during near war crisis the soviets and russia provided Germany with gas.
      Indeed Russia kept Germany provided with gas while our industrie used the power to provide Russias enemies all over the world with weapons even during hot conflicts.
      Now show me an ensurance that America will help us to arm enemies of the USA!
      And the number of enemies to the USA are rising with every war the USA starts!
      There is no ITAR law in Russia!
      Now a days even Government weapon aquisitions or development treaties are plastered with conditions to not be affected by ITAR.
      And the Americans complain that we don't import enough American goods. Well the most obvious goods to import are basically boycoted by the conditions of every thing that is built in Germany can't be affected by ITAR. It basically exludes US manufacturers of parts and products.
      The USA destroys it's own exports with it's volatile sanction regime. The USA are simply not a reliable partner. Mainly thanks to ITAR as basically everything falls under this law.

    • @6372-s4k

      I'm fully pro CNG import from Russia because you need 15-25% the energy of the gas for compression and transport, which makes it more expensive, but you can actually use LNG in the existing gas pipelines. You just have to warm it up until it's gaseous again

    • @earldonavon110
      @earldonavon110 4 роки тому

      That is because the gas went through other states. Any disruption to that would cause Germany to care. The USA, along with some other European countries, believe Germany will no longer care about their eastern allies (they barely do as it is) and would sit back while Russia cuts them up.
      Plus, that and its very hard to sell congress on keeping soldiers in Germany under the guise of Russia when its their energy supplier. I know the people on both sides don't care, but the politicians understand why they are there a bit more than the general public. Germans forget their historical enemy is not Russia but Europeans themselves.

      The Poland uses every lever they find to make Germany miserable. One of these levers is the Gas pipeline that passes through Poland transporting our gas. Poland demanded increasingly higher transit fees so Northstream 1 and 2 was set into motion.
      Germany doesn't care about countries that happen to channel their inner Kindergarten-Child when dealing with us.
      Germany drove the EU east Expansion! It was meant to help our eastern neighbours. And it did help. And then Poland went crazy.

    The video is missing an important aspect. The german/european dependency of russian gas isn't the reason the US is sanctioning german/european companies. Russia has been delivering gas for decades, even in the deepest crises of the cold war. The US just wants to sell its own gas, make money and gain power. Apart of that it's a bit ridiculous to increase sanctions at nord stream 2 by a lot, when only 130 km of 1200 km are missing and billions of dollars have been invested already.

      north stream II was certainly not the smartest thing politically. if that pipeline would have been build trough east europe no one in the eu would be against it. north stream II is basically the safest and cheapest for germany and maybe some neighboring central european countries.

    • @theragingcyclone
      @theragingcyclone 4 роки тому

      Among all the fossil fuels available natural gas is probably the least polluting one and also available in plenty in many of these countries mentioned in the video. So it looks best option as of now but in the long term, harnessing solar power looks like the best option for cleaner energy which is of course apart from geothermal, hydroelectric, wind power etc.

    • @julian5701
      @julian5701 4 роки тому +1

      Vaman Singh I mostly agree with you but we need to transition to renewables now, not in the long term. We‘re already harming the environment way above the earth‘s capacity and if we don‘t start now, all the investment in fracking and LNG shipping infrastructure will only postpone the transition to clean energy even more..

    • @theragingcyclone
      @theragingcyclone 4 роки тому

      @@julian5701 Yes correct but cost benefits are a huge factor in deciding what type of energy source to pursue. Investments are being made in LNG and fracking because it is still economical to extract these resources. In the last one decade lots of efforts have also been made towards making solar energy cheaper and more efficient to harness but it is still a long way to go before becoming major source of energy for human consumption.

    • @julian5701
      @julian5701 4 роки тому +1

      Vaman Singh Absolutely. I just wish these cost benefit calculations went a bit further than the next quarter since fossil fuels will directly and indirectly incur costs much higher than the short term benefits.

America exporting gas/lng pumped thru pipelines that the American tax payer paid for, just for quick big bucks for the major oil companies. All this exported gas to keep Asian and European houses toasty warm . The pipeline welder had to go home to a cold house because the American Government can't/won't build the pipeline infrastructure to the residential areas for our own homes. Although a source of profit for the USA, selling LNG outside the USA is not a necessity. The US domestic market for methane gas will do nicely and US domestic users will benefit from lower energy costs. Also, the USA could produce more gas by pumping domestic waste down into a dried up oil well, thus converting it into a "digestor" in which the decomposition of organic waste produces methane. Also, the technology of using cultured bacteria to decompose "biomass" (excess vegetation from forest lands) could be added to the energy production stream. Using better forest management techniques could significantly reduce wildfires in western states of the USA, while adding to the manufactured energy stream.
