Thanks for making this video! Quick question, does the bitrate increase over the years on individual titles? For example it an older MCU title came out on iTunes in 2019 and has a comparatively low bit rate to a 2024 release, does that bit rate ever get increased? Are they hard coated into the release itself or is it an arising tide raises all ships situation? Great channel by the way.
Yes, streaming quality has gone up over the years for sure. We went from iTunes being 720p to 1080p to 4K and now Atmos and stuff. The streaming quality became better each time. We just need one bigger leap into high bit rate.
Jaremy always saves the day!
LOL, thanks!
The Live TV service (which bundles Disney+ and ESPN and ESPN+) is buggy. It can often hang up (unresponsive menu but continues to stream) when trying to set a record option or when bouncing out of Hulu to another app and then returning to Hulu. This happens on Apple TV. FYI.
Great video! Yea, unfortunately as an AT&T mobile subscriber my only option for Max is HD SDR. They just took away 4K HDR and Atmos from the AT&T subscribers and so we would have to give up the ”free” in order to upgrade. No upgrade options for us. On another note what do you think about doing this evaluation for the Super Bowl next week? Comparing the multi-channel services (YTTV, Hulu Live, etc.) vs Paramount+ for bit rates and resolutions. Thanks!
Too late for Super Bowl, unfortunately. That would have been a great content idea. I'll double check my MAX quality with my AT&T subscription ASAP.
In your opinion and experience, do you think NAD or Parasound is a better match for your Anthem STR/Anthem 90?
I’m much happier with the NAD. Let me know if you need a lead to snag one. Audio Advice has the M23 and M28. I can put you in touch with my rep. I’m set on amps for a long time now. Got everything I wanted out of the NAD.
What about using Hulu + live streaming on Apple TV? I read it only works on 4th generation and currently there is no 4 generation. Am I missing something?
It will work. Just get a latest model Apple TV.
We have the triple bundle, Disney, Hulu and ESPN+. I think my wife watches some Hulu. I use it with my son to watch the NHL. Outside of that it's unused.
And yeah it’s starting to get Dolby vision in Apple TV 4K
I also found out the Hulu app on the Apple TV 4K gets hdr10+ now.
I use Hulu on my Apple TV 4K
I don't have a problem with advertising. Most of the time I have my tablet on my tray and I'm surfing so when it's advertising time I surf. I really like Hulu. I don't think about high-end video quality when watching Movies on Hulu. As long as I can buy the movie on 4k disc then that's high-end video quality I expect.
I watch FX tv shows on Hulu like justified and sons of anarchy. I watch on a 4k tv but don’t expect it to look that great so it’s fine. What I don’t like is most of their 5.1 is multi channel in format on my Apple TV to denon and it sounds terrible. Wish it was Dolby surround. To not have movies at least in 4k hdr is a big misstep if you ask me. I guess they rely on people catching up network tv shows instead of true cinema.
I have an LG C3 OLED and 4K content on Hulu is a joke compared to other streaming services. I watched House of the Dragon on Max and it is gorgeous. Meanwhile Shōgun on Hulu which says it is 4K 5.1 HDR is grainy af.
Hulu with 4k hdr on Apple TV 4K is hdr10+
Bummer my LG G2 doesn't use HDR10+.
Please how do these results come out?
I use the Apple developer menus on the ATV.
Hulu with ads is unwatchable. I cant believe famous directors allow their content to be chopped up by pharmaceutical and car ads.Worse than network TV
Decent content for 99 cents a month
Have you found that UA-cam TV sound and video quality is acceptable to you? Also, have you ever experimented using the UA-cam TV app, on your TV vs through your Apple TV...to evaluate the differences there?
I'm very happy with UA-cam TV, yes. Plenty good quality for the stuff I watch. I mostly use the YTTV app on ATV itself. I haven't tried the LG app.
