We finally got our first real snowfall of the winter season here in the Hudson Valley. It was so peaceful and beautiful ... and way more than expected! I built Charlie a little chihuahua-friendly snow track in front of the cottage. Chihuahuas and the snow don't typically go hand in hand ... but he's a trooper : )
I also take you with me to Delaware to go thrift shopping while I try and make another Free People dupe outfit.

I heard an ornithologist say once that when birds chirp like crazy in the morning or after a big storm it’s like rejoicing, alerting each other that they made it through the dark night or the wintry gales. Like a giant “roll call” for each other. Now it makes me smile to imagine they’re all shouting their own names “I’m Ernie! I made it through the storm! I’m here!!” 😂🥰

I thought maybe it was just me as a child from the south, but I am always, no matter how old i get, thrilled by a beautiful snowfall. It is magical.
At least little Charlie will do his business by your front door. My rescue greyhound had me up at 5.30am this morning, and I have to get all dressed up, her with her warm coat on, and I have to walk her up our private lane, down onto the country road to do her business, as I only have a tiny front area, and no other garden, and she does not do her business there. Beautiful starry sky, and freezing cold in West Devon, England. But I could not be without her. Our dogs give our homes soul, and a meaning to things. She is the only reason I go out at all. I love your videos, and I too love the snow! You are a beautiful soul both inside and out, as is your little guardian angel Charlie dog. Blessings and warm hugs to you two, from Jilly & Madge. xxx

I once did what you did. I was setting off out, I was filling my car with stuff I was taking to a friend’s. I needed to get petrol on the way, so I rummaged in my bag & got my purse out so that I would have it ready when I got to the petrol/gas station. I finished loading the car & drove off, I filled my car at the station & then realised I didn’t have my purse, I’d left it on top of the car. They were very nice about it at the petrol station, took my car registration & name & address, & let me come back later to pay. I never did see that purse again. The most upsetting thing was losing small personal photos that I’d always kept in my purse & had never thought to make copies of.
I love the little track you made for your doggy, he’s so sweet, my dog is quite large so she just plows through the snow & loves throwing it everywhere.

I'm so glad you are back and well, worried about you last week. Know that you are part of our lives and are missed when you are not here!!! We love you. I'm so sorry about you and your Dad being sick. I have placed the key in the windshield pocket and went through the car wash. Luckily, it stayed in its little knook and still worked despite getting a really good soaking. Love the little path you made for Charlie.

Right now the bears are in hibernation. Just make sure you take down the bird feeder in early spring when the bears wake up.
I was taking someone to the airport once. I went into the bathroom at a gas station and had my key on my pinky finger. When I flushed the toilet and it was one of those whoosh toilets that does a giant flush and has really no trap to speak of. The key fell in the toilet and was flushed into oblivion. I was 2 hours from home with a person who needed to get to an airport and no key. I feel your pain girl.
Oh man! That's terrible!!!!!! It definitely does make for a good story .. later. Way later, lol! ❤❤❤
I wish we still had that much snow in England, but I haven’t seen more than a flurry for the last few years.

Key fob- I keep mine in a zippered area of my purse. I never even look at it or touch it. As long as I don’t lose my purse, I’ll have it. It moves from zippered area to zippered area if I change purses. My car has Auto Unlock, and even within the purse, it triggers the locks. Love your videos! You are truly a photographic artist.

When you come in the door and turn right go past the bathroom. I think that is the little area where the fridge was. Maybe make a thin drawer drawer under a shelf, when you pull it out place a board on top for a work area. I hope that this will work for you. Love your videos. Take care. I saw a video of a guy who lays down a piece of plastic tarp on his backyard grass near the door. When it snowed, he just went out and picked it up, shook it off, and there was a nice patch of grass for his little dog to go potty! Then he’d lay it down again until next time. I think he had a spot to drape the tarp to dry off in between snows. I thought it was genius. I have a little one who will only barely step outside the door and poop when the weather is inclement. Drives me crazy. But I laugh.

Just a thought. In the winter time when you can't be outside doing projects or whatever, what about getting a small TV tray and eating on your couch and leave your projects on the table. That way you have plenty of room and can leave something you are in the middle of? I know not everybody would embrace this but a TV tray is foldable and could maybe slide even under your couch

For your key fob... could you get one of those coil elastic wrist bands and attach it, so its always with you. Also for your tiny kitchen space... I think the round table takes up a lot of floor space.. Maybe just a tiny square small table at the end of the counter with a stool to slip under for dining. Then a long thin console table behind the sofa for your crafts and laptop with a chair.
Charlie's whimpering in the car actually brought tears to my eyes. He's so darling. I'm sorry you had a stinky couple of weeks, sprinkled with some joy, though, right? It's snowing here in Pennsylvania, for the second time in a week. It's pretty to look at, but it's also a hazard if you need to get anywhere! You're an awesome dog mom to shovel a path for him. :-) Every time I watch one of your videos, I feel the need to find new thrift stores LOL. I have to rein in my fun, though, because I live in a very small space as well. The animal footprints in your yard were absolutely delightful! Time to set up a little buffet for them. I’ve left my key fob as well, now I have it on a bangle style key ring so every time I shut off my car, I slip it on my wrist. So far so good.😊

Hello from Northern Canada. -30 here the other day. Lots of snow.. What I do, is keep the keys in my purse. I have a large fluffy thing attached to it. Stick a sticker onto the dash board. It will always remind you to turn off the car.. Cheers..

Ugh...want a horrible week plus. The beginning of the video was so pretty with you beautiful face lying in the snow. I found I need a clutch/wrist wallet type with key fob attached so I do not lose my key. It is working for me! It was nice to see Charlie being able to play with his friend off leash!
Please put some seed and fresh water for the birdies to help them survive the winter. They need it.

Charlie is such a sweet little guy! Glad you made it home. I’m having the exact same issue with a push start car. No one else understands why I’m struggling so much with it, but you described me exactly. I bought a small carabiner ring and clipped mine inside my purse so I don’t have to take it out, but can easily access it to lock my car door. This seems to be helping. Now if I could only remember to shut the car off! 🤦♀️
We should start a club, lol : ) I think I need to do what you did with the clip for inside my purse. I fear that once I finally lock down my new habit, they'll come up with a new way to start cars, lol. Have a lovely weekend! ❤❤❤
I’m 68, and recently got a push button start car, and ran into similar issues. Here’s what I do; I keep the keys in my pocket. Esp if I’m in and out. I also keep fob and other keys on a caribener hook, so it’s easy to clip those on a belt loop or on my purse. Also it’s good to get in the habit of listening when you get out to make sure your car isn’t making the fast little beeping noise. I have started to walk away and wondered why car was making that noise, and it’s easy to continue on, not hear it and leave car running😮. I highly recommend from experience, NEVER set anything on the roof of your car. When my children were babies I used to set diaper bag, or my purse there, and learned the hard way.
It’s just been over a month now, and I love the push button start! Once you get used to it, it’s so much easier! So good luck with that!

A tip from a long time Alaskan…During the winter months I put a jar of chunky peanut butter in a tree branch and secure it with a bungee cord. It usually lasts 2 weeks and feeds birds, squirrels and a mouse. A lot less work than refilling a bird feeder.

Key fob + lanyard = saves your 🍑 😊 I also owe a tiny LED flashlight on mine and a tiny pocket-type knife that looks like a little leaf. Handy and lets me see dog doo when walking, easy to find in the purse (or attach to purse via carabiner) and easy to carry wherever you go. Can be a scrap of Paracord or fabric, a braided cord, a dollar store lanyard (they usually have boho-type prints or plain colors), thrifted, or as expensive as you care to get.

It was so neat seeing Charlie off leash running free! I know sometimes you have to keep him on a lead, but watching him run and just look so joyful made me smile. It’s amazing how dogs have friends just like we do seeing him play with Felix, made me smile as well. I’m so sorry you caught Covid and being sick is never fun wherever you are. I guess eventually we will all contract it no matter how careful we are. Here in South Carolina Covid is on the rise again, along with a myriad number of other illnesses. I am vaccinated for almost everything and I’m now wearing my mask again in public places. I know some think that I’m over cautious but I really don’t do well when I’m sick. Sorry that your dupe did not work out but honestly I didn’t much like the outfit. But I am old, so what do I know a fashion? I love seeing your home both neat and messy as that’s the real world. Thank you for your beautiful photography and sharing the Hudson River Valley and all its magnificence with us. I grew up in the Adirondacks and miss the beauty of upstate New York so much. I worked in the health field for many years , I retired in 2020, but I still have a ritual for after being out in public When I get home I shower and whatever clothes I was wearing out go into the wash Outdoor clothing gets hung in a different spot ,Ishampoo my hair . I am very careful about what 8 touch and I wipediwn my cell ppl hone with disinfecting wipes

Charlie was ready for his playdate. Sorry you got sick hunny bunny. I hope you're well on the mend love. The lights looked beautiful in the yard and the woodland friends and their tracks was a lovely sight. My car is a 2007 so don't have the key fob issue. What my bestie does with her key fob, it lives in her handbag. She takes it out, uses it, back in her bag. There is a learning curve with them. I've even seen folks attach them to a lanyard or a stretch key wristlet, that way you have it. Maybe that will help. Put a sticky note on the dash somewhere that say get key fob to help jog memory 😁❄❄

I really enjoy your videos so keep them coming please. Here's a thought for your next outfit shopping adventures, try looking in the bedding, blanket section. The fabric can be patterned easily into the skirt part and the fabric is totally washable. Your mom could pin the outfit on you , add zippers, ties whatever to customize it. Such fun. Glad you made it back to NY and I'm looking forward to hearing about your next adventure.

The fresh snowfall is so beautiful. I am in Florida, and we are getting some cold weather this week, but no snow. I always loved the fresh snowfalls when I lived north of here. Charlie looks like he was having fun in the snow, and so were you!!! What an experience with the key fob. I get it! Hugs...

Living in South Texas …. Winter temperatures average 50 degrees… a few days of 25-30 degrees and I don’t like to get out…. 😊… the snow is beautiful..

I also run warm and enjoy cold crisp air more than anything! I live in Hawaii, where we do not have the joy of the seasonns. I have to visit my sister on the Hudson River in New York to experience the cold, crisp air of fall or winter.😊 I totally sympathize with your tiny living space, and how hard it is to be a creative in small spaces. I'm guessing my home is just about the same size as yours, 500 square feet? I decided to turn 3/4 of my living room into my art studio, leaving only space for two chairs for when I have a visitor . No room for a dining table. It's not ideal. However, I'd rather do that than put my artistic life on hold as it is one of my top passions and brings me much joy! So sweet to see Charlie being playful!❄️💙💙

I'm finding it so hard to find dresses anymore in the charity shops here in Ireland. I used to find them all the time, and now, in the last 8 months, at least, they have varnished!😳

Kate, it's January 18, and here in north Alabama we got 2-3 inches of ice and sprinkling of snow. I love snow, but not the ice, I haven't been outside for days, when I did I slipped on the ice, I hurt my arm, but I'm ok. I don't blame Charlie for not wanting to go out in the snow, it's too COLD. He would have gotten lost in the snow. This was a beautiful video today thank you for sharing with us!

I to have a small dog Minpen and live where it snows. So when I went to a pet store the lady there said to get a roll of fake grass for my little one easy to clean also. Well buddy loves it and no longer freezes in the winter. BTW I'm in my 60s and recently been trying to decorate boho ty for all the inspiration

I live in the north highlands of Scotland and we had our first big fall of snow this week, around 12 inches, it’s beautiful but I’m ready for it to be gone now!!! 😅 My two dogs love it and have the zoomies then come in covered in little snowballs!
Enjoying watching your show. I love your decor and glad you and Charlie finally got snow. My town finally got snow 2 days ago and I’m so lucky to be retired and able to enjoy it! Can’t wait to see your spring gardens.

Someone has probably already mentioned this, but just in case - I keep my key fob in my purse at all times. When I get near the door handle it unlocks without me holding the fob. If it doesn’t or I try to open the door too soon, I then pull the fob out to manually unlock my car and put the fob right back in my purse. Hope this helps. I hope you are able to do something about your drone. I really love all of your photography but the drone footage is always spectacular.
I had a similar issue and ended up tying a yellow ribbon to my steering wheel to remind me to pay attention / be mindful while I was embedding my new habit.

I have the same space issues... One way I work with it is I use trays A LOT. I have found it much easier to pick the projects up and shift them here and there, as needed. And I have found several cute and vintage trays at thrift stores. Keep them up on top if my fridge until I need to use them💕

Watching you run around and play with your puppy it reminds me of when my Sadie was here and we used to play like that does Chase each other and stop and turn around and chase each other again and I swear I could see her smiling you look like you're having as much fun as your little friend is😊

I like having lights all the way around my property too but I've got ducks and chickens and rabbits too but when I look out I'd like to be able to look and see if anything is around my animals and I also have a greenhouse I have going for all year long plus etcetera it keeps it to where I can see if anything's on my property I just feel safer and then also like you say it's very beautiful and I'm also a romantic also
Regarding the key fob, could you make/find a pretty little fabric pouch for it, which could be attached to your key ring? Something like the little jewellery pouches you can often find might work.

I loved watching Charlie playing in the snow and with his friend. You got a lot more snow then we did here in the Adirondacks at least where I live anyways but it has been really cold. Thanks for the great video!
