ACTINOW Kit Camera Webcam Setup:
1. Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port of the computer. When the camera is turned off, press and hold the MODE button.
2. At this point, insert the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of the camera, and then press the POWER button (note the order of these steps) The camera enters the webcam mode.
3. At this time, double click to open the AMCAP software on the computer (this software needs to be downloaded by the user), and the image corresponding to the camera lens is displayed in the AMCAP window. When the AMCAP software is not turned on, the camera function can also be used to transmit video images over the network
Cheap ACTINOW Camera Webcam Setup:
1.Please download the software “AMCAP” on the Internet before using the PC CAM function.
2.Please connect the camera to the computer through the AV＆USB cable, then press the camera “MODE” button to switch into the “PC CAM” mode.
3.Finally open the “AMCAP”,then you can use the camera as the webcam.

Just want to mention a few things he didn't test but I did and found to be not working. The HDMI out is not clean; the OSD is output through the HDMI and (AFAIK) cannot be turned off. Additionally, the webcam feature through USB didn't work for either my Mac or PC where I've hooked up plenty of other webcams and capture cards into with no problem. Still looking for a camera that does both.

@@DigitalDavid Fortunately I bought the mic one as a USB Webcam for Wirecast, but trying using it with Atem mini pro, I discovered HDMI out could not be cleaned and mirrors exactly the camera's display.
Great Camera’s, the only thing i worry about is the FPS, kinda looks laggy to me. Except that, awesome camera’s!

I have the cheaper one, I got it a couple years ago as a Christmas present, and haven't really done anything with it. but I'm looking into getting back into filming stuff. does anyone know a compatible microphone I could use with it? since the camera doesn't have a really clear name it's kind of hard for me to look stuff up for it😅

There are settings in the menu to adjust the color saturating and white balance and contrast. I'd set them and start over. They are both probably the same circuits inside.

How do I recharge the Batteries for the more expensive camera?
It plugs into the wall to recharge with the included charger!
With a webcam image sensor, a plastic lens, and a mono microphone, you're never going to get good video and audio quality out of these things. You'd get much more impressive results for around the same money by buying a used Sony or Canon camcorder.
Or upgrading to a newer flagship smartphone!

Put card in and push format on screen. Push the touch screen firmly.

Yeah the Fill Light on the Camera is Pretty Bright. I Remember back in the 80's if you wanted a Fill Light, You had to attach it to the Camcorder. Those things were Huge.

Digital D. - Glad you posted this. At 1:47, you mention the "really nice User Guide" for the less expensive camera bundle. I recently bought through Amazon the other camera kit, and the User Guide is really crappy. The pseudo-English pages are useless. Truly the worst I have ever seen. I was ready to return the camera for that reason, until I found your helpful video. Thanks.
I was stymied trying to upload and save video clips from either the camera or directly from the SD card to a computer, but a viewer comment already on this page inspired me to try a new approach. Problem solved.

I got one of the HDV-201LM cameras as a gift. It records pretty decent video, but the audio timing was badly off. The instructions are extreemly vague also. I wish i could figure out how to make it work.
If you are having audio issues you might want to try a new SD card (get a higher class one) but if you still have issues you would have to touch up in post! I did not notice any audio off-sync issues on these when filming this video or using them in general!

Really liked the review overall. I bought the more expensive camera. And am trying to set it up. 1. One thing you did not go over... how and when to charge the batteries. The directions don't really tell me how to do that. So I just installed a battery... then plugged in the usb cord to the camera. then plugged the power in to the wall outlet. How do I know how long to charge it this way? Directions don't really tell you how to do this... so ? 2. also how and when should i charge the microphone? I think you did say when the mic light goes red. charge it. 3. Also how do I upload my videos onto my youtube channel? Is there an upload share button to youtube, on the camera? I assume I need to load my videos onto my PC... then upload from PC onto you tube? All in all I gave a like to you because you covered a lot of stuff. This is my first camcorder so I'm a little nervous about using it.
Great questions. Let me try to answer them for you:
1.) Yes you are charging it correctly through the camera with the battery plugged in. You should have a red light on and then once the light goes off the battery is fully charged.
2.) Microphone does not get recharged. Once it dies you will need to buy a new battery to keep using it
3.) Yes copy the files to your computer then upload them directly to UA-cam.

It seems you can connect a sound board through the 8mm. My q is, how well this can work and will it over load the cam. Obviously I am paying attention to clipping, but is that not a good idea?

It is important to keep in mind that creating quality content is not only about the camera but also about the lighting, audio, and content itself. What about 'actual' battery time? What if you set up the camcorders pointing at a clock with a sweep second hand, so they don't go inactive? Then we could see if our "mileage" varied?

Hi, Digital David : I just received my FULL HD Camcorder yesterday. But I still can't figure out how to insert and remove SD memory card correctly. Could you tell me how to do this task correctly ? I just fear that once I insert it in wrong direction the memory disk would probably stuck in the slot. Thank you.

Hello, I did the test and the video camera works well for me, the only thing that does not turn on is control in the brochures does not indicate how to do it I do not know if something is wrong I thought it was the battery but I would not like to know what I should do.
There maybe a little piece of plastic covering the battery that you have to remove before first use!
Hi David, Thank you for your detailed review. There would seem to be a buzzing sound when you were using the microphone on the more expensive one. Your studio mic was very much better. Did I hear this correctly? For my job, good quality sound is essential and good quality picture. I use a Blue Yeti at the moment as an external mic. If I dont go with this one, and am happy to spend a bit more, what would you suggest? Thank you in advance
Your Blue Yeti mic will be way better than these mics! I would keep what you have vs this mic! Get a rode microphone if you are looking for a shotgun mic!

I bought the camera on the left. I recorded 30 seconds worth of video so I used the USB cable to transfer video to the PC but nothing happens. I don't see any message on the PC that shows me it is transferring. What am I doling wrong??

Take the black piece of plastic out first and then slid the mic into place. Should only fit/go 1 way on the mount!

Digital David it’s a Nikon d5600 and it’s been freezing when I record video. I already sent it to the company about a month ago and they fixed it under warranty (same issue). Now it’s acting up again. Nikon has shut their offices so I cannot get it repaired until the virus scare is over.

You'll wanna take the SD card out and then plug it in your computer to access them. If your computer doesn't have an SD slot you'll need an adapter
