My dad had one of these in a red color. He managed to drive it for 500 000km before it was written off. Very good car. The best part was road trips and because the trunk was so big my brother and I would fold up the seats in the trunk and make a bed in the trunk and sleep throughout the road trip. We still had plenty of trunk space for the luggage
I had a 2004 - 2.4GX petrol Condor. Best value for money ever! I installed an additional petrol tank ( total fuel capacity of 120litres) also installed a Toyota bakkie bullbar and two swing arm-type spare wheel brackets on mine. Toured Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland with it. Also went all over SA in it - snowy mountain passes around Rhodes etc. Followed the Pajeros and Navaras wherever they went. Even up the Naukluft mountain pass in Namibia. It was as big as a cave when I removed the 2nd and 3rd row seats. Traded it at 300k kilos for a LC 76 and found that the Condor had more space inside! I sometimes wonder if it is still running somewhere🤔
Wow, sounds like a great experience. This one is my dad's. He bought it from my brother and I who won it on 50/50's Veld Fokus :) I had a 2003 3000D 4x4. Had a roof rack and dual battery. We did Etosha, Kaokoland, towed Corsa out of Rhodes in the snow. I wish I kept mine. One day when I am big I'd love a 76 LC. The only vehicle I think I might keep forever. Cheers
In indonesia this car called toyota kijang/deer (kerjasama indonesia jepang) in english means indonesia japanese cooperation. Its a legendary family car in indonesia the price is still going strong even today and many people still using it as a daily but we dont get the 4x4
Brought back so many memories, grew up in the back of one of these. I would say a downside is the lack of a rear diff lock, got stuck a couple where that would've come in handy. Still love it tho!
They are great cars. I remember doing research and Gearmax made a read diff lock. I never fitted it, and always a bit worried if the going gets tough. But never got stuck.
We had a few of the 3000D 4x4 Condors underground on the coal mines in Witbank and when you see the abuse they were subject to then I can assure you your vehicle still has another 50 years or more life left in it
Heeeey, I know a very interesting story about that Condor 😄 …AND, I’ve driven it through the Kalahari Desert for 40 days before! 🙌🏻 It’s an amazing vehicle!
Toyota Tamaraw/Innova a Asian Utility Vehicle in the Philippines. Very popular family vehicle. Driven one a diesel variant, easy to drive like a tall car.
I'm sitting in one right now runs like a new car we call it the father of the Fortuner, Tell you something interesting we using it at construction site, but when I brought it came with one proper shaft missing, don't understand why but it doesn't affect how it drives
That is awesome to hear! I agree, this one from 2005 also still feels brand new. About that missing drive shaft... the Condor is constant four wheel drive, so if a drive shaft is missing in the front and you put the transfer lever in HL (high range, center diff locked), it should drive like normal with the rear wheels only. Did you notice in which position the short lever was? Awesome cars!
Could you fit 16 inch rims with taller tyres to raise it a little? You would lose acceleration but the top end would be better and ground clearance would improve.
I did a lot of research on ways to raise it a little. Some people fitted Camil Suspension (none of the well known brands made parts for it) which meant you could fit 215/80R15s and with some body lift and mods, maybe even 245/75R15s. But 16inch rims is a bit big and the lack of power would make it struggle.
This one is constant 4wd, but if the light is on, it either means it is in low range or the center diff is locked. Do you have the small lever next to the gear shift? That's how this one moves between H, HL, LL

I agree, I rear diff lock would have been great. I researched this back when I owned mine and as far as I can remember, Gearmax made one that fits. Lovely vehicle.

Such awesome memories!! My brother @thesafariexpert (The Safari Expert) and I did the same in the back of my dad’s Nissan Sani
I'm still driving a Toyota Kijang Krista 2.0 with a 2RZ-FE engine, it's very strong and durable, like it will never die.😂
They are just amazing
My dad used to have a 3000D. Slow as a donkey but super reliable
I still miss that car
This is dad’s Condor too. I sold mine years ago and still regret it
To be honest. It’s in my bucket list. It’s such a chilled vibe kind of vehicle. Reminds me of my youth. 😂
It may be boring, but it puts a smile on my face every time :)
The memories..
Used to go to school in one of these.
I still see a few of these at school drop-off in the mornings

I actually want to turn one into a camper van with some off-road features. Thanks for the comment.😊
These things were built to last forever love the old diesel clatter.
Me too! It's the best sound ever.
I will buy one tomorrow if I can lay my hands on one. They are pure magic as a go anywhere slow tourer.
They really are amazing for touring and very scarce in this condition.

That's amazing! Yes, this one will outlast us all.
I think it a nice car and a trusted car my grandfather drove one of these I like 👍 this car
I agree, these cars will never let you down!
Hey there bro. Very nice presentation of the Condor. Any plan of making videos of it doing offroad stuff? That would be really fun!
This one is my dad's, but when I borrow it again I'll do an offroad video. I sold mine many years ago. Still miss it!
Heeeey, I know a very interesting story about that Condor 😄 …AND, I’ve driven it through the Kalahari Desert for 40 days before! 🙌🏻 It’s an amazing vehicle!
LOL, very interesting indeed! 🤣
I just bought one!
Nice!! They are getting scarce. Enjoy it!
Toyota Tamaraw/Innova a Asian Utility Vehicle in the Philippines. Very popular family vehicle. Driven one a diesel variant, easy to drive like a tall car.
Awesome, thanks for the info. I wish they still imported them to South Africa. The diesels are amazing. I love the simplicity and practicality.

And the ac feels like you're in a modern car the heater feels like you're burning, the engine starts better than most of its peers

Exactly the same with this one. The ac is almost too cold and the engine start if you touch the key... every time!
Wow sir how much for the car or what is value/price? Thanks
This one is not for sale.. but I see them advertised for between ZAR150 000 and ZAR200 000 in this condition in ZA.
I wonder if you could retrofit a rear differential lock
Hi! Where would you suggest one look for a Condor to buy that is in relatively good condition?
They are so hard to find and there are soooo many scammers out there. I wish I knew the answer
Awesome car❤love it

Good evening I have toyota condor 300d TX it shows the 4wd light ,how can I deactivate or activate it?
This one is constant 4wd, but if the light is on, it either means it is in low range or the center diff is locked. Do you have the small lever next to the gear shift? That's how this one moves between H, HL, LL
Watching these videos is like meditating 🧘 please tell me about your camera gear
LOL thanks. I am using a Canon M6 with DJI bluetooth mic. Cheers
Can you fit it with a Snorkel?
Yes, I've seen snorkels on Condors, but parts are tricky to find
How weird it’s like a surf but it isn’t like a little 100series
It is a very strange vehicle, but somehow it is just right. Honest motoring at its best.
