Yes hybrid is definitely a realistic option for my next vehicle which is a few years down the road. I don't want to be told I can't fuel up my car because of the grid or get stuck in the middle of an evacuation order due to forest fire and my vehicle runs out of fuel away from a charging station. I can always put in a few gallons of gas with a Jerry can and get to the next gas station and I don't need the grid to do this.
I thought everyone had 2 cars? Electric in town ... gas in the Country brother . What is the point of going Interstate if you have to charge . Personally I would like a 10,000 buck wheelchair and a Caddy
The old 22 series 4 cylinder engines were weak in power and torque, but they could run forever. I still have a 22RE in an old 4-Runner. I don't drive it much anymore, but I think it has somewhere around 325,000 miles on it.
I've got a 3rz in my Toyota Regius Van. Bullet proof reliable engine. I know they use them in the taxis here in South africa that get absolutely abused with little to no maintenance, but they still go strong. Just wish it had hydraulic lifters instead of the shim system as it requires maintenance every few years.
270k miles on my tundra 4.6, oil level is always the same and feels like when new. No major repairs, just the water pump which I did myself many miles ago.
My good old German spec'd 2004 RAV4 with the updated 1AZFE is still purring along with 287tk and just purchased a German 2023 C-HR Hybrid that is pretty decent as well!
I love our '18 RAV4 hybrid XLE but and this is just me and I admit it. I am not a fan of the CVT. It works as advertised and has no issues but someone who learned to drive on a manual and drove mostly automatics, this was my first experience with a CVT. Just not a fan. If it was the only thing you knew it would be fine but not when compared to a manual or auto. The 2.5L engine is phenomenal.
So no mention of the legendary Toyota Diesels that came in the Landcruisers. 1HZ and 1HDFTE. I know multiple with multiple Landcruisers that have driven them in some of the hardest country on the planet and some have gone around the clock. I know one guy who has 8... One has done 1.4 million kms, one just over 1 million and a few that are 400,000 to 800,000. Also to mention the 1UZ. Great engine for drifting and jet boating. I ran twin 1UZ’s in a jet boat and ran it 8-10hrs a day everyday during summer.
1UZ FE 4.0 V8, Toyota introduced in first ever lexus LS400 1989. This engine is so smooth and reliable even there is fifth gear video of glass of water putting on the different cars.
1991 Toyota came out with the 20 valve motor, ( according to Scotty), i had a 1985 Yamaha motorcycle with a 20 valve motor, ( called the genesis motor), great bike, great engine
the 20 valve silvertop officially came with the AE101 corolla, which was first released in 1991 (on those markets where it was sold) and for a mass produced engine, toyota was the first one to make it work in a car.
Question - Scotty, I love your videos!!! You're the best on UA-cam. Per your suggestion, I picked up a used 2013 Toyota Camry in excellent condition. It has high miles (190K) but it will work perfect for my soon-to-be-driving son and daughter. I noticed in eco mode there's a very subtle shutter at 40 mph. I'm worried that the torque converter is the suspect even though it's not a problem yet. Can I just drive in sport mode and avoid the "flex lockup" of the torque converter and avoid any damage?
I’m frightened and should be . A friend bought a 2007 Jeep compass and she drove it for 2 months before the transmission died! So! I bought the car from her figured I’d fix snd sell ! Well , I paid her $2000 For Jeep and I put 3000 into Jeep . It’s looks very good in and out so I got the transmission fixed and we’ve been fixing things . Got a battery, brakes. Serviced everything Once I replace the motor mount bushings I should be done . However ! It’s got a rattle in front that quiets down if put in Neutral It has power rides smooth other then the rattle . And hint what the front rattle might be ? I think I’m going to replace linkage because that’s where I think the noise may be coming from
My 2020 Highlander has the 2GR-FKS 3.5L V6 engine. Performs well at speed, makes a pretty good sound for a V6 when giving it the beans, but its pretty noisy when idling--lot of clatter, like a diesel.
I'd rather have an LFA than an GT-R. The LFA is an original car with an original engine, while the GT-R is a 350z mashed up with an R34 styling wise while using the 350z engine.
My 1mzfe went out after only 207k miles. And I babied that thing. Toyota let me down. So I'm buying another 1mzfe to see if this one's built a little better.
Thoughts on the 2.4L 4 cylinder…I have one in my 04 Camry that I bought recently and I’ve been doing a bunch of maintenance. I recently put some B-12 in to try and clean up carbon buildup…before my next oil change I’m going to put some sea foam in my oil to help some more
These are solid engines from 02-06. The 2AZ-FE 4 Cylinder engines are solid. I have an 05 Camry with over 350,000 kms & still runs like new. Incredible.
The NiMh battery has no memory anymore when it gets depleted? LiOn never had that issue in the past, unless I'm remembering old school when that was an issue. I must be getting older!
Too old, LiFePo4 is not the same as LiPo ( which uses a polymer not phosphate. LiFePo4 has a charge range and dies when full drained, You can suck a polymer battery dry. Polymers like frequent charging but Ion lithium ones due not. Both have cold and heat issues. The are actually additional Lithium battery types as well. @@Kevin-bi9nfyeah nobody buys a pickup for gas mileage everybody wants a pickup for reliability and longevity The 5.7 . It's frame has nine cross members this is really a 5/8 not a half ton pickup in the 4.3 rears this is the last of the great pickups.

2e in my 1.3 corolla just refuses to die. Just goes forever. 😊
Liking the 2.5L inline 4 in my 2011 Rav4!
More people should watch Scotty. This is a great informative and enjoyable video👏😎
My lexus IS 3.5 engine is Amazingly powerful and sounds really good❤🎉 thanks scotty
What do you think of the 1NZ-FE?
No mention of the bulletproof 3.4 ltr V6 1st gen. Tacoma engine?
I had one of those for years, what a great truck. Only got rid of mine cause it was rusting away and falling apart. Still ran just fine though
Family had a Toyota Liteace with a 5K engine. Lasted 20 years. That engine just wouldn't die even if all we did was the basic maintenance.
My 4.7 L 2006 tundra has never let me down.
Great video man!
1UZ FE 4.0 V8, Toyota introduced in first ever lexus LS400 1989. This engine is so smooth and reliable even there is fifth gear video of glass of water putting on the different cars.
1991 Toyota came out with the 20 valve motor, ( according to Scotty), i had a 1985 Yamaha motorcycle with a 20 valve motor, ( called the genesis motor), great bike, great engine
the 20 valve silvertop officially came with the AE101 corolla, which was first released in 1991 (on those markets where it was sold) and for a mass produced engine, toyota was the first one to make it work in a car.
remember the Honda Twin 100?
Yes, i remember that little bike, at one time i had a Honda cb200t
@Kevin-bi9nf
Did you have the 100? i had a cb200t, it would run 65mph wide open!
oooo that's fast@@robertsyre230
I think Top Gear had something to say about the LFA too.
Rav4 2016 hybrid awd executive 235548 km No Problem ❤Toyota
Question - Scotty, I love your videos!!! You're the best on UA-cam. Per your suggestion, I picked up a used 2013 Toyota Camry in excellent condition. It has high miles (190K) but it will work perfect for my soon-to-be-driving son and daughter. I noticed in eco mode there's a very subtle shutter at 40 mph. I'm worried that the torque converter is the suspect even though it's not a problem yet. Can I just drive in sport mode and avoid the "flex lockup" of the torque converter and avoid any damage?
Great Scott 🤯
Scotty’s knowledge of car mechanics.. amazes me every time !
I see you showing Takumi and Bunta at the beginning scotty 👀
My 2016 3.5 v6 camry is all og it got 175 000 miles oil changes at every 5ks and trans flush 2 times. Alternator was done
While Yota wasted time on stuff like this, MB was designing axial-flux motors for it's BEVs
Good video
I’m frightened and should be .
A friend bought a 2007 Jeep compass and she drove it for 2 months before the transmission died!
So!
I bought the car from her figured I’d fix snd sell !
Well , I paid her $2000
For Jeep and I put 3000 into Jeep .
It’s looks very good in and out so I got the transmission fixed and we’ve been fixing things .
Got a battery, brakes. Serviced everything
Once I replace the motor mount bushings I should be done .
However !
It’s got a rattle in front that quiets down if put in Neutral
It has power rides smooth other then the rattle .
And hint what the front rattle might be ?
I think I’m going to replace linkage because that’s where I think the noise may be coming from
What about the 4.3 liter engine in the LS 430? I had one for 12 years with no issues whatsoever!! Smooth and powerful.
Thank you
The Lexus LS430.. 600,000 mile engine
What about the 1ZR-FE, 3ZZ-FE, 1ZR-FAE?
Every time an American says Murciélago an Italian dies😂😂😂
What about the 2GR-FKS?
My 2020 Highlander has the 2GR-FKS 3.5L V6 engine. Performs well at speed, makes a pretty good sound for a V6 when giving it the beans, but its pretty noisy when idling--lot of clatter, like a diesel.
i've noticed that also, i have a 2021 Highlander with the same engine...it's still a fantastic engine though.
Google "2GR-FKS failure" to learn about it's problems
The 1.5 4cly is the best.
Sir, Can you advise and guide about rebuilding a vehicle? thanks
2GR-FE is a very good engine.
Thanks for sharing
I’d love an LFA in my tundra.
What about the legendary 2.7 4cyl in the Highlander???
Its worth mentioning
Oil burner unless oil changed every 3,000 to prevent deposit seized piston rings.
in Australia ya can't go past the good old 1hz 6cyl diesel million kays just warming it up
I'd rather have an LFA than an GT-R.
The LFA is an original car with an original engine,
while the GT-R is a 350z mashed up with an R34 styling wise while using the 350z engine.
My 1mzfe went out after only 207k miles. And I babied that thing. Toyota let me down. So I'm buying another 1mzfe to see if this one's built a little better.
What about my 5.7 in my Tundra, never had any problems with it so far?
3MZ-FE and 4.0 V6 in Tacoma 😍
The cleaner way to go is the cars with manual transmission. No need for bigger engines.

Thoughts on the 2.4L 4 cylinder…I have one in my 04 Camry that I bought recently and I’ve been doing a bunch of maintenance. I recently put some B-12 in to try and clean up carbon buildup…before my next oil change I’m going to put some sea foam in my oil to help some more
sea foam???
I believe did a video on how bad sea foam is to engines.
These are solid engines from 02-06. The 2AZ-FE 4 Cylinder engines are solid. I have an 05 Camry with over 350,000 kms & still runs like new. Incredible.
Scotty is my kinda-guy! he convinced me already to go get a Scion!👍it also has a Toyota-Engine!!!!!
My friend had one of those LFA's It was beautiful but the engine was delicate and the maintenance was outright outrageously expensive
Captured Audience for those
Literally just watched a different video where he says don’t get the hybrid. They’re very expensive to fix.
was prepared to glare at mine hatefully, but we made the list!
NiMH acts like either Lithium batteries mentioned
Scotty I approve the LFA! The only other real sports cars are the 911 and the NSX!
1ur-fe 4.6L V8 in my GX460 178,000 miles
I hope scotty makes an appearance in a street racing anime someday
It would fill the city with cars.
inspiration
I think there is an error here - The 2GR-FE is in the Lexus IS 250, but the IS 350 has the 2GR-FSE
