I got mine yesterday and I'm nervous!! I'm just trying to be patient. He don't squeak at me , hiss or bite , but is cautious as I'm his new owner. He's was climbing around and digging all night and tore up his cage and plastic plants. Is this normal? I assume yes. He pooped all in his water bowl
@@GeekyGeckoCreations I agree. I like beardies too. I like any reptile (apart from snakes cuz you have to feed them mice and I like little rodents, they're cute)

Could you possibly do a video on the differences between baby gecko morphs and adult gecko morphs? I ask because I got a gecko and I’m trying to decipher it’s morph but it’s still a baby.
sure thats on my list to talk about changes leopard geckos go thru. Mack snows and babies are white and black then turn light yellow /purple and some tangerines start yellow then turn green/orange
You have a calm patient tone of voice that is so easy to learn from. Excellent filming of the animals, very clean. Interesting and well-illustrated breeding response. Thank you for your hard work!
TY! Yes they are a bit different, in leos its a lot of Line Breeding combined with "Punnett square type" Mutation breeding but its a nice world of genetics to play around with glad u enjoyed! :D
Another thing Tangerines/SHCT/SHTCTBs are mutations. It's called hypomelanism. The "normal" you presented is actually a hypo. The tangerine you presented is actually a super hypo or SHTCT.
Helpful information but I would consider the normal you showed a hypo. A normal leopard gecko would have way more spots which that was is lacking quite a bit.
Hi thank you for watching! Yes I agree with you, for the purpose of this video I was just trying to keep it simple for beginners and I did not have any more "normal" looking geckos so I picked this gal, but that being said, we really haven't seen much-updated pics of leopard geckos in the wild for many years I do believe that reduced spotting and pattern alteration is currently going on even in wild populations, so if we were to go to the middle east today in the wild we should find hypos, high patterns, and maybe even some morphs and combos but yes i get the point you are making and appreciate the feedback! :D
Hey! So my newest gecko is a Sunglow RAPTOR and her eyes are pretty much the exact same as Buddy's (the 50/50 eyes) however, rather than half black half normal, her eyes are half red vein half red (like, albino solid red) I was just asking if this is normal or if there are other genetics that i might not know of, Thanks!!
Great question! You got something special there. So Buddy is a normal eclipse, not an albino. When you add the albino gene to the eclipse gene you get red eyes its very cool! Now there are 3 strains or different types of albinos, the most common is "Tremper" and this will produce more of a Ruby red eye, the 2nd is "Bell" and this will produce more of a brighter red eye, and the last is "rainwater" and this will produce again a little bit more darker red eye. The Bell albino has the lightest color eyes, mostly, but as with all genetics sometimes you get outliers and its possible for Trempers to have lighter reds as well. It would be cool to see pics of ur little lady, if u get the chance! Let me know if you ever have any other questions, or if i didnt explain fully to ur understanding =D
@@GeekyGeckoCreations Thanks so much! I have an instagram account @the_littlehome_zoo which is pretty much just for my three geckos, Marzi being the Sunglow RAPTOR. I think that because she is RAPTOR she is Tremper albino, although I have no idea what Sunglow means, all I really know is that she is gorgeous, Thanks again :)
@@rayquazasawsome1657 Sorry, yes, sunglow is a term used in leopard geckos to describe a HYPO ALBINO. More specifically the HYPO is very extreme, meaning none, or almost no spotting at all just an all orange gecko...and then combine that with the albino gene, and bam, u get a very nice all orange gecko with little to no patterning :) And yes, RAPTOR stands for Red eye, Albino, Patternless, Tremper, ORange....i capitalized the letters they used to make the acronym sound cool, lol, but yes RAPTORS are albinos with the Tremper gene, RADAR is albino with the Bell gene, and Typhoon is the rainwater albino verision, it might have a nickname similar to the other 2 but i cant seem to remember or find it right now, its not as common as the other 2, yet. PS - I will check ur little gal out on ur IG :)
@@GeekyGeckoCreations Thanks again! It's just that I have never seen another gecko like her (other than her brother, although out of the two, I think she was the prettier one :P) and yes, she has very little patterning, no spots, and a very yellow base with light orang-y bands along her back, that are broken down the middle (I was never good at descriptions XD). I was hoping to maybe one day be able to breed her (I hope that i'll be able to breed leos, although i still need to wait until i'm old enough and have my own place :)). What's his temps? 90-100 hot spot is good, make sure he has a dark warm humid hide to retreate to around 80-85 degrees, make sure the food is coated with calcium with d3 and reptile vitamins, if u have them, and other than that he should thrive. by the way i would try feeding him a bowl of mealworms, cheaper and geckos in captivity seem to like these WAY more than anything else, u can also try dubia roaches but mealworms is my suggestion! :D

@@GeekyGeckoCreations yeah probably the way we called it here is abit different, like normal gecko have like a straight tail right but 1 of mine at the very end of its tail look likes a thunder symbol (zig-zag). Sorry for bad explanation, its kinda hard to explain hahaha
@@blessedproduction6109 interesting just never heard that before. But curly tail then would be a birth defect in a way correct? Or is it considered an actual mutation desired over there? And where r u from again? :)
Tangerine and Carrot tail is called Polygenic or also line bred. A lot of inbreeding to get those however inbreeding in reptiles is a bit different than in humans. Also there are 3 types of albino. If you breed a rainwater to a bell albino the babies will all look normal and you will never know what genetics are what.
You are correct! Yeah, look at the black nights, 11 years of inbreeding to achieve what they got going on. But Yes you'll never know the genetics of different albinos paired to each other until you test breed the babies, most people steer away from that, it can be kinda fun to guess and make predictions and then see which predictions pan out but to each their own i suppose :)
@@GeekyGeckoCreations I have bred ball pythons, odds of animals and all that is extremely fun, especially when you're dealing with 5 to 6 gene pairings lol. The problem with breeding the albinos comes later down the genetic line. Once you get a heterozygous albino in there you start getting into more random heterozygous animals and like Forest Gump days,'You never know what you're going to get'.
Got a Murphy's stripeless patternless a week ago and it's so cute! But, I will say it's annoying that as of now, the store I got it from has a sunglow. Figures.

@@letsdostuff8967 haha makes sense, if your interested leos can be kept quite low maintenance if you check out any of our videos, of course you can feel free to go as extravagant as you want but speaking from a pure safety and survival perspective, they really seem to do great even with little resources. 12 qt plastric container, one side with a heat pad under it for 90 degree warmth, humid hide, food bowl, water dish, and newspaper bedding, food once a week, just about 50 mealworms for a juvile/adult and even less was grow and thats it :D
The 2nd gecko is a Bell or Tremper Albino, there are 3 different lineages of albino, all are different genetics and mutations and this one I am not sure if it is Tremper albino or Bell albino. Hope that helps :)
The word Het usually refers to recessive genes, so the Mack snow is an Incomplete dominant morph, meaning one copy makes a genetic change and 2 copies makes another genetic change. That being said, Ur HET blazzing blizzard means that it is both het for Albino and het for Eclipse, each of those genes have a 50% chance to pass on to the offspring, but since with recessive genes 1 copy does not make a genetic visual change to the animals appearance u cant tell which babies have the single copy gene inside of them, unless you breed to a visual or het verison of the opposite gender. but from your crossing up top Het Albino and Het Eclipse will have a 50% chance to both pass on the offspring but you wont know which offspring have the genes inside of them and since snow is a incomplete dominant gene then only 1 copy is needed to make a visual change and 50% of the babies will be Snow! :D :D

I have leapoard geckos and my son wanted to see other morphs. The visula quality of this video is very nice, but it's quite inaccurate in terms of content. Biological terms, gens, mutation etc. were thrown randomly in every second sentence and I'm not even sure if it's correct. "The snow" was a bit common. I guess what we are seeing is a levender mack snow. "The blizzard" looked rather as a Murphy's Patternless. I'm saying this because of the nosie in the color. Anyhow it can be a blizzard if the parants are tested and it is proven what they are.
That last base one you were tugging the tail a lot. Why? Why almost exclusively pull the tail. I like your vids a lot but it seems like you’re trying to get them to drop it. It gives me crazy anxiety personally. If you’re confident in yourself then I trust it and I’m still gonna watch but when I see you pull the tail I do get kinda scared. Also idk if you have but if you could do a section of a video about Murphys Patternless leopard geckos and the genes of it? That’s the morph I have and wanna see your take on it.
Yeh I will def try to single out the Murphys as time goes on, personally I have no Murphys I choose to keep Blizzard instead which is pretty close but they are both great genes. Murphys can pair good with Black night, Tangerine, albino, snow, and WY would be my top picks. Yes I am sorry to stress you out about the tail, but I assure you the tail is very solid as adults and I would NEVER handle a baby this way. For telling the gender of females you have to lift the tail over and over again and you get used to it, you hold firm, but you don't squeeze, hold it lightly in your hand and ive never had one even come clsoe to dropping it, their tail is very secure and I am very gentle, feeling the geckos every move if he/she gets stressed and releasing the tail right away and putting the gecko down gently. But thanks for ur support and ill def try to get some MP stuff in the future! :D
@@GeekyGeckoCreations I appreciate your reply. I’ve also been doing more research about my gecko. I really can’t tell what morph she is. She’s either a patternless or a midnight blizzard. Normally when patternless are babies they have patterns that eventually go away. She was a baby when I got her and still isn’t fully grown yet but she’s always been without a pattern. Just a straight dark purple. Sometimes it’s darker and other times it’s paler even when she isn’t entering shed. It’s kinda hard to tell what she is exactly. I wish I could find out definitively.
@@GeekyGeckoCreations if you wanna wait for her to get a bit older then maybe I could show her to you and see what you think. I’ve seen pics of ones that look similar but still can’t tell if she’s patternless or a blizzard. I’ve never seen a leopard gecko that looks just like her.
@@samtj5022 Yeah their eyes are very intense with lots of blood vessels and like Marbled patterning, I can't say why that is per se, but tell Gwen they are "dusk" hunters when the light is low quality so maybe all those blood vessels in their eyes create a kind of "marbled" pattern visually when we look at them, but also help the gecko see in low light conditions...and as for Alex, HAHA, yes! A lot of people think their tails are funny too =P but they are actually functionally "wide" because they store nutrients in their tail so that when they cant get food in the wild, they can absorb that nutrition from their tails into their bodies for food! 😊😊
No not at all! Leopard geckos are actually one of the most CLEAN reptiles I have ever kept. Ribbon snakes, garter snakes, snakes that "musk" those will sometimes have a pee smell. :)
I'm new to the channel and I'm guessing you don't breed. But one thing I suggest If fyou ever will or are considering breeding I suggest not breeding white and yellow, lemon frost and enigmas. Enigmas have enigma sindrome wich can cause them to have trouble hunting and glass surf and other mental islnesses as well. Lemon frosts I have to agree are the most beautiful geckos ever and I would love to have one but I don't because I don't support the breeding of them. They are known for having cancer a lot if your rescuing these types of geckos then good for you!! Just a tip
Thank you! Yes I was aware of the Lemon frost issues as well as the Enigma issues but never saw any issues with WY. I heard one time someone mention it but never seen any videos or anything on their side effects.
@@chrisherrala4121 Yeah I remember when I first got into leopard geckos, I didn't hear anything about WY problems, but then recently I was scrolling or watching some video, and I remember hearing some one say that WY has problems but mainly if u breed the WY back to the WY again creating a super form. But then again I've only heard this one time in my few years of research now, so it's possible maybe some people have had issues with the WY gene, but its also possible maybe the problems in those geckos that those people were referring to could have been caused by other genetic genes or defects already present in the geckos DNA. I have a few WY leopard geckos now, my one adult and some of his babies, no issues that I can see so far, a matter of fact probably the calmest gecko I have in my collection is a Juvie WY that I noticed this year was noticeably calmer than all other baby leos and adult leos ove had in the past so thats cool cu I love to document new knowledge and observations. But believe me, if I notice a problem with WY ill def mention it on my channel, because I love to inform, educate, and document my experiences for others to learn from when I can, so thanks for bringing the whole topic up so I can be that much more aware of my observations towards the gene 😁🦎🦎
@@chrisherrala4121 That's the great thing about an hobby too is that there is always more to learn and new experiences to be documented, especially when dealing with Live Animals 😁😁🦎🐍
Yeah sure. Blizzard is a recessive gene, so one copy needs to be passed on from the mom and one copy from the dad, so that the baby has 2 copies of the gene, only then can the blizzards display the "blizzard" look.
@@jimzmanobie958 Sorry are you asking what else you can mix with Blizzard? Remember Blizzard is only 2 mutated genes. 1 blizzard gene passed on from the mom and 1 blizzard gene passed on from the dad, that's it, it only takes 2 copies, or 2 genes total to create this morph. From there you can add in Albino, which will give the gecko a "whiter" appearance, and that's another 2 genes, so now 4 genes total, and you can also add in eclipse, that's another 2 genes so now 6 genes total. You can also add in snow and that's another 2 genes for a grand total of 8, but most people don't go that far with blizzard because by the time of the 6 genes it already is pretty much an all white gecko. I'm gonna do a FULL genetics video here shortly over next couple weeks, with pictures, graphs, etc, tune in for that, it will explain a lot more with visual aids =D

@@rhysmyers6025 Yeah great hobby! Bell is one of the 3 types of albinos in leopard geckos. All 3 are different mutations and cannot combine with each other to produce visual albinos. Albino is a Recessive mutation meaning it takes 1 copy to pass from the dad and mom each to get a visual albino animal. So if you bred a tangerine non bell to a bell gecko, you'd get all tangerine 100% HET Bells, which means each baby carries 1 copy of the gene but is not a visual albino since albino requires 2 copies. Another thing Tangerines/SHCT/SHTCTBs are mutations. It's called hypomelanism. The "normal" you presented is actually a hypo. The tangerine you presented is actually a super hypo or SHTCT.

Thank you so much!
What kind of geckos would I get if I bred a normal leopard gecko with a blazing blizzard?
More specifically the HYPO is very extreme, meaning none, or almost no spotting at all just an all orange gecko...and then combine that with the albino gene, and bam, u get a very nice all orange gecko with little to no patterning :)
And yes, RAPTOR stands for Red eye, Albino, Patternless, Tremper, ORange....i capitalized the letters they used to make the acronym sound cool, lol, but yes RAPTORS are albinos with the Tremper gene, RADAR is albino with the Bell gene, and Typhoon is the rainwater albino verision, it might have a nickname similar to the other 2 but i cant seem to remember or find it right now, its not as common as the other 2, yet.
Thanks HaHa yeah they are!

Just a tip: when you stop talking and there's a silent moment, put some background music
Thank you! :D
What will you get from crossing a het blazing blizzard male with a het Mack snow female?

Why are their eyes so intense? Does that serve a purpose? Gwen wants to know why do they look like a snake? Alex says, why is its tail weird? Lol.
LOL 🤣🤣

Enigmas have enigma sindrome wich can cause them to have trouble hunting and glass surf and other mental islnesses as well. Lemon frosts I have to agree are the most beautiful geckos ever and I would love to have one but I don't because I don't support the breeding of them. Thank you! Yes I was aware of the Lemon frost issues as well as the Enigma issues but never saw any issues with WY. I heard one time someone mention it but never seen any videos or anything on their side effects.
Ive heard from some people they have neurological dissorders but with the right care I'm sure they will do fine!

Can till me how to creat blizzard morph, or genes to combine to make it
Yeah sure. Blizzard is a recessive gene, so one copy needs to be passed on from the mom and one copy from the dad, so that the baby has 2 copies of the gene, only then can the blizzards display the "blizzard" look.
@@GeekyGeckoCreations i mean what can kind of morph can be mix to get blizzard
