My isopods have had babies. I saw 2 feasting on custodian fuel and that decaying carrot top. Don't know which species but I think they are giant orange ones. *Also* , I named the coconut hide they use "the Tunnel of Love" because it's basically their breeding chamber.
What’s ur uvb Timer set for? Like what time does it start and end. Cause my buddy is selling me his later in summer due to college. And I want to get my knowledge up fast. And I think the timers is the last thing I need to know.
Hey, so I'm thinking of getting a leopard gecko soon. I've taken care of them in the past so I know all the essentials and what not. However, I cannot get a clear answer online regarding what is the best substrate. I'm not gonna use paper towels because it looks awful but sand (even play sand) makes me worried about impaction. Is coconut fibre or eco earth okay? Should I use a feeding dish with walls tall enough that the feeders can't get out so there is no chance of impaction? Any advice is appreciated
Reptisoil, organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand), or a bioactive mix is best over six months. Half textured tile half soil is good as well. They should be offered digging enrichment. They will not get impacted as long as they’ve got the correct temps. It’s safe to feed them on the substrate and enriching to let them hunt.
Your buddies are so handsome. Really nice enclosures too. I want to get a leopard gecko too but sadly I can't for the time being since I haven't settled down in a permanent house yet. As a plumber, I don't reccomend you use tap water no matter what your water supplier states the quality of the water is. Especially if youve had recent work done with copper piping as we use chemical flux to help the solder bind to the metal and that will partially be inside the pipe, plastic pipes i'd say you're somewhat safer with but can never be too sure how the pipelines are maintained in the streets. Safest way to know is know is Ph test ur water for those who are overly paranoid.
I love your vids! I have a question. Do you know any stores that ship Earthmix Arid outside the UK?I live in the US. I know everyone's on edge because of covid-19 but I've never been able to find any that ship here.
Hi, I just got a baby leopard gecko! He has UVB lighting that is on a timer like yours, so my question is what do we dust his food in? Ive read a lot about using uvb lighting and dusting insects, but I have never heard anyone say what they use to dust them. He has calcium in his tank, and we gut load our feeder insects with carrots. He eats every day since he is still a baby
Dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings. You need supplements without d3 when using UVB. It’d be best not to leave calcium in the enclosure. Make sure you’re using a linear/tube UVB bulb, not compact
Whoever is disliking these videos please delete yourself from UA-cam This is an amazing channel! It teaches us how to PROPERLY take care of our geckos Those who dislike these videos are probably animal abusers Stop throwing hate and leave a like
I want to ask you about the supplements i use for regular feeding Arcadia calcium pro Mg and in his tank and until now i used the zoomed multivitamin with D3 for every two feedings. I want to try something new i had in mind the repashy calcium plus and the exo terra you have in the video. What is your suggestion among those three or something else?
i never knew, why are some leopard geckos yellow and some that were basically coveted in spots and were brown, are they different breeds? bc i want a yellow one but i'm not sure if they're all the same. thank you!!
I am going to get earth mix arid or terra Sahara from the biodude I was wondering if you can use these bio active substrates in a non bio active tank without a clean up crew btw I will not be using real plants if I do get these either substrate
Yes, you can use them without going bioactive. Although I recommend reptisoil or organic top soil (without fertilizer or perlite, Scott’s is a good brand). They work just as well and top soil is loads cheaper.
Hey great channel and very informative videos you have :) . I'm about to get my first leopard and I already have a terrarium that's 45x45x60cm. Are those dimensions going to be a problem since the terrarium is a little bit taller than it is long?
That’d be far more suited for a crested gecko. A leopard gecko requires an enclosure that’s 60x45x30cm, or 75x30x30cm. And that’s bare minimum for an adult. Bigger is much better
That's a cool name... My first leapard gecko is Robert (after my boyfriend Robert Jay) I love him VERY much but I don't think it's a good name for a leapard... Just got 2 more, Domino and Ming
I've had my gecko Spyro for 3 weeks now and he refuses to come out when the light is on, and 1 time he did walk out he kept his eyes shut. I dont know what to do, I'm worried hes not getting enough d3 :-( I only have pure calcium in his tank. Do you think he will eventually get used to the uvb light? I'm using arcadia shadedweller.
Is he albino? My albino avoided UVB when I tried it with her. Try offering more coverage with branches and fake plants. That way he can partially expose himself to UVB while still hiding and having shade/cover. It’s best not to leave calcium in the enclosure. If he doesn’t start exposing himself to UVB soon you may need to use a supplement with d3.
We just got our Leo 3 weeks ago! Your videos have helped us every step of the way. He was so tiny and he's growing very well. Is it to early to let him crawl around on our bed or on our arms? He crawls up my arm from his tank but Idk if I should trust him to go up to my shoulder. I'm afraid he will jump off. Should I just let him do his thing?
You can let him climb on your bed and arms, just be careful that he doesn’t jump off. They can be extremely fast when they want to be, especially if they get spooked
@@fionashepley478 thank you!! I thought I would ask before I let him explore. Some blogs say I have to wait till they're about 3 months old...but I kinda can't wait that long. He's just to cute!!!
Good insects for their main diet include live crickets, Dubia and discoid roaches, silkworms, and black soldier fly larvae. They can have superworms and mealworms occasionally, and hornworms are good treats. They need calcium and multivitamins. Dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings. One supplement needs d3 unless you use UVB. Or, to make things easier, use Repashy Calcium Plus (an all in one) every feeding. Make sure you gutload the insects with fruits and veggies
Usually I will wait til the end of the day, if it's still light but the geckos are awake, or I'll use my lighting equipment at night, so it's a bit better lit lol
I’m wondering what i should be feeding my leopard gecko during the lockdown as he doesn’t eat dead crickets and right now he is eating mealworms but i can’t go to the shop to get more, what should i do??
Leopard geckos should never be housed together. Avoid kits. 10 gallons is too small. The bare minimum for an adult is a 20 gallon long, and bigger is ideal.
I have a question my gecko, Omega is having trouble taking off his shedded skin at the toes. I do what you do in your tutorial but Omega does not seem to lose the skin. Could you please message me what I should do.
Heyy I'm going to get a Leopard gecko (I watched all your videos and am really informed), but I'm 14. When I"ll move out, I will give them to my siblings (only if I won't be able to take them with me). But after I saw your video " why you shouldn't get a leopard gecko, I'm kinda insecure... Do you think, I should get one?
I’m A very new leopard gecko owner and as quickly trying to learn things that I either never knew about or was unsure or even after I researched them. Do you absolutely need to give leopard geckos calcium powder with their food? Because I’ve never seen anywhere or heard anywhere while trying to learn how to properly take care of my gecko that they need calcium powder on or with their food
Nutritious feeders that can be fed often include crickets, Dubia/discoid/other roaches, silkworms, and black soldier fly larvae. If you live in Europe you have locusts and grasshoppers too. Mealworms and superworms are both fatty and not healthy for their main diet but fine to feed occasionally. They can also have their pupae, and the beetles right after pupating (before they turn black) Hornworms are a healthy treat. Waxworms are a rare treat only. They can also have captive bred isopods as a snack Healthy adults can have an extremely rare frozen thawed pinky mouse once or twice a year
My gecko hasn't been eating for the past month or so, but he did shed recently and ate some of the molt. Do you know why this may be happening? He still looks pretty chubby and his tail is about half an inch thick so there are no signs of hunger or unhealthiness.
BIG QUESTION: I finally got to upgrade my gecko's cage after wanting to for years and finally got to make her a proper moist hide. I did a LOT of research and put it together, but now she seems hesitant to go in it. It is at the right temperature and I have been careful not to make it too wet. Any advise?
@@fionashepley478 Sphagnum moss and towards the middle but more on the warm side (had to put it there to help achieve the right temperature, but it also has an under terrarium heater).
Rae Hamilton sphagnum moss has been known to impact and kill geckos. I recommend using reptisoil, organic top soil, or coconut fibre. Is the hide see-through?
@@fionashepley478 are you kidding me??? I did research for days and everything said the moss was one of the best! Crap I hate the freaking internet. It is not see through.
@@fionashepley478 I'm looking online again and everything says impaction is rare with moss when in a small area away from their food source. I always take out all loose substrates during feeding. Is there something else I should be concerned about with the moss harming her??? I chose it because it was the cheapest and I'm in a real financial bind. I can't afford getting something else right now and will have to change to a piece of towel.

Ziggy looks almost just like my juvenile gecko! X3
I just got my Leo out :)
I got her about 2 weeks ago and she's already very tame
I'm going to be getting a leo this week, hopefully I can get a male because I'm kind of set on the name Rasputin lol
Did u get it?
That's a cool name... My first leapard gecko is Robert (after my boyfriend Robert Jay) I love him VERY much but I don't think it's a good name for a leapard... Just got 2 more, Domino and Ming
love your channel because of you im going to start posting vids about my gecko on my channel your super helpful
i love your channel your so helpful im starting to make gecko videos on my channel because of you 👍
I've had my gecko Spyro for 3 weeks now and he refuses to come out when the light is on, and 1 time he did walk out he kept his eyes shut. I dont know what to do, I'm worried hes not getting enough d3 :-( I only have pure calcium in his tank. Do you think he will eventually get used to the uvb light? I'm using arcadia shadedweller.
maybe he is albino, in that case he would need a special red light (I think don't take my word for it)
@@mileskorb9424 no red lights dude. Big no no.
I might be getting a leopard gecko, and these videos really help😌
Your account helps me so much I’m getting a leopard gecko on my birthday or 5 months I may be getting a tangerine or Mack snow gecko thank you so much
Where did you get the rocks for their tanks? I've been looking everywhere for ones similar.
Im gonna get my own leopard gecko soon and im really excited
Update i got last month
BalakeTheArtApe I’m so happy for you😁
I am looking to get a leopard gecko for my son. I really like the way gizmo looks. Is there a specific name for that type of leopard gecko?
No. Thank you for making this video. Sending much love ❤️❤️🥰❤️❤️
What vitamins and food do I feed them and how do I give it its vitamins thank you 😊
Good insects for their main diet include live crickets, Dubia and discoid roaches, silkworms, and black soldier fly larvae.
Hopefully you don't have one already and are asking these questions 👀
Super cool merch!
Just got my gecko Ichigo, he’s really chill
What time do you usually record your videos? Awesome video!
Usually I will wait til the end of the day, if it's still light but the geckos are awake, or I'll use my lighting equipment at night, so it's a bit better lit lol
Ok, Thanks!
I’m wondering what i should be feeding my leopard gecko during the lockdown as he doesn’t eat dead crickets and right now he is eating mealworms but i can’t go to the shop to get more, what should i do??
Hi I wanted to ask I might be getting a gecko and I've seen a gecko kit which is 10 gallons what's the smallest size I could have for two
Leopard geckos should never be housed together. Avoid kits. 10 gallons is too small. The bare minimum for an adult is a 20 gallon long, and bigger is ideal.
Awww gizmo is sooo cute!!!!😘😍😍😍
I have a question my gecko, Omega is having trouble taking off his shedded skin at the toes. I do what you do in your tutorial but Omega does not seem to lose the skin. Could you please message me what I should do.
Hi I love your channel. Also, how long do you leave the UV bulb on for?
Thanks :) like I said in the video it comes on at 7-9am and then again 4-6pm. :)
I just got a leopard gekeo named bala and you really help.
I didn’t know you had a pet corgi. 🤣❤️❤️
I got a gecko about 3 weeks ago! Hes still a baby but hes really healthy so far! Atleast i think hes boy- His names Spoinks!
Question, if you could name the healthiest leopard gecko food to the unhealthiest what would it be? I kinda want to switch up my bays food choices!
They can also have their pupae, and the beetles right after pupating (before they turn black)
Hornworms are a healthy treat. Waxworms are a rare treat only.
They can also have captive bred isopods as a snack
Healthy adults can have an extremely rare frozen thawed pinky mouse once or twice a year
Yay I was craving to watch a new video thank you 😂😅😭
haha no problem :) thanks for watching!
My gecko hasn't been eating for the past month or so, but he did shed recently and ate some of the molt. Do you know why this may be happening? He still looks pretty chubby and his tail is about half an inch thick so there are no signs of hunger or unhealthiness.
Have you tried offering different insects? Sometimes mine just don't fancy crickets, but will eat meal worms for example.
@@leopardgeckotalk I only have dubia roaches at the moment, but I'll see if I can get some mealworms or crickets
THE CRICKET HEAD HOLY LOL
ikr 😳
@@davidfox4680 thanks :)
BIG QUESTION: I finally got to upgrade my gecko's cage after wanting to for years and finally got to make her a proper moist hide. I did a LOT of research and put it together, but now she seems hesitant to go in it. It is at the right temperature and I have been careful not to make it too wet. Any advise?
What are you using for the humid hide and what substrate is inside it? Which side of the enclosure is it on?
