"Hover play" counts as "views." If someone is scrolling slowly, and hover play begins playing, this will look like someone clicked on your video, but really all they did was stop scrolling for a moment and video started playing automatically. When the person returns their attention to their feed, and hover play ceases, this looks to your analytics like someone "clicked away" from your video in the first few seconds.
Not much you can do about people who scroll slowly or leave their news feed open when they aren't looking at their phone.

Yeah, so incredibly stupid that those count as views! Either only count "real clicks" as views or put a MINIMUM "hoovering time" like 30 or 60 seconds for them to count as views. Don't you have to be intelligent to work for UA-cam?

A very difficult question, do you know if the retention of a video is negatively affected when there are comments with timestamps that lead people many times to see only a few seconds of your video? or this is good?

if you're talking about chapter, in my experience yes. in one of my channels, i put chapters and in the retention graph i could see that viewers was skipping, and i got 19% retention (155K views)

Pretty sure incentives to fast forward on the video = higher retention

My audience retention is so good after the beginning. BUt the beginning 70 percent leave. But the beginning is better then the end and middle.

Love it, Sam! Really cool to hear that you're an electric guitar player. I searched to see if you have a YT channel, and I saw that you're a worship guitarist - nice!! My husband Jonny teaches guitar and his passion is also electric guitar for worship. Nice to connect with you!

This is probably the most concise and informative video ever on your channel to help content creators. I'm not just saying that because I play guitar too. I am saying that because I am guilty of at least two things you said NOT to do! Thank you!

The problem That i feel in my videos are the insane amount of lag that i experience That i face at the start of the race ...
i play gta online custom races and post it either solo or with my friends (This coming week will be all against friends) but the thing is that my gameplay has some lag problem at the beginning of the race but eventually it fixes at about 1-2 mins in the race but most of the viewers don't even hold that long making my average retention even less than a minute

    • @LybaGhazanfar-
      @LybaGhazanfar- 4 місяці тому

It really depends on the software you use while recording. See if you’re on windows the. obs studio adds tons of lag on a mid range pc or laptop. But if you have nvidia card then use shadowplay its an integrated recording software and same case with amd there’s another software for it again integrated in amd graphic card to record search it up. Both of them not only optimize the gameplay but the recording as well

This video was really helpful. I like all the tips and I will try to use them. One question please. I started my channel this year and I have 915 subscribers almost reaching 1000 but the problem is my watch time is 700. It is going very slow comparing to my subscribers. Is it normal? Any tips to improve that please?

I do movie reviews. So I can only hope they enjoy my views on what I thought of the product etc. So it's a hit and miss. But the editing and movie clips in my videos are spot on.

This is a GREAT video, but there's a problem with it. In fact there's a problem with all videos of this type. They all give the advice to tell a story in our videos and the only example is always Mr. Beast. I got it, it's the easiest example to give, because he's doing entertaining videos and a story fits very well in all his videos.
It would be awesome if you guys made a video about creating a story while doing tutorial videos for example, where 70% of the video is screen recording if it's a software tutorial. Or a video talking about how to deliver a tutorial video in another way, so that we can insert some storytelling in it. I know Mr Beast is very very good at this, but we should see other examples too, from other niches, don't you think? That would be helpful!

On EVERY simgle video I post, after 30 seconds more than 70% of the viewers have left already. I spend endless amounts of time creating the hook of my videos but it changes absolutely nothing. I was hoping someone could tell me what's the issue. Is it my accent? Are the hooks still to boring? Is it audio or image quality?

Hi Sam, nice informative video and without too much hidden promises to keep retention up … also I see that most of the viewer which are on YT would benefit from honest feedback Hook, Storytelling , Tension are things that if you are bit serious about your YT you know but … maybe 🤔 it makes sense to get some direct feedback … if you Sam and other reading here agrees let me know in some form … and no I ask nothing in exchange I just want to genuinely offer feedback as this is so unvaluable … let me know and keep it up

this does not explain how some of my videos drop to 66% or 44% retention in the first second. in fact not even a second just starts at 0:00. u cant even click off or even make a judgment in that time so how is that possible? I try and make my new videos good but retention is just not good and I don't get it. I even watch them making sure its not boring and try and make it as engaging as possible. Even I the creator is entertained by it. Usually I hate what I make but I love my new videos and don't find them boring at all and im a UA-cam rat. someone who spends tons of time watching UA-cam so I know good videos and bad videos. I don't think my videos are bad and I showed many people and they also found some of my videos funny so I just don't get how UA-cam works. My newist video is over an hour long and I watched it twice in a row in the editor not being bored at all. thats over 2 hours of me just watching what I made. If it was boring I would not watch it so im so confused. HOW DOES THIS POOP OF A WEBSITE WORK??? ALSO WHY DO MY OLD VIDEOS THAT I SHAT OUT WITH NO EFFORT GET SO MANY VIEWS BUT THE ONS I TRY ON DONT?
