Because the devs wanted the motion capture actor and voice actor to be the same for GOW 2018, TC Carson just didn't have the body type or size to portray Kratos convincingly and was replaced by Christopher Judge

I feel nothing since the struggle wasn’t too drastic in Ragnarok he didn’t go through anything himself Atreus and Freya did but he just moped and had no plans and skipped into his old self again and just stopped when we needed a good dad moment. None of the writing or nuance of the old games is in this one or this DLC the gods were assholes and deserved death being regretful of killing them isn’t the thing that they should have focused on at all. The idea was that he didn’t care about anyone and would kill any innocents for his vengeance not that the gods were justified or we should feel bad for them.
It’s Kratos accepting remorse, though. Psychologically, they kinda of gave him his “redemption”….. That semi-grin on the throne? Growth. They made Kratos wickedly relatable…..did. harsh stuff, ignored it as it dig into his remorse, and at the end, he honors many he wronged. Hard not to applaud the move, and the character arc the guy went through. I dig Kratos as the god of hope. It does seem to fit….

If in the old games, old Kratos would've appeared from a time-portal to calmly talk him to his senses, young Kratos would've told him to f*** off and if he didn't do that, he would start a fight trying to kill him. That's why I'm kinda disappointed we couldn't fight young Kratos as a final boss here.

After dying she got corrupted from the powers of higher existence which made her greedy so she returned in gow3 to manipulate him. people just believe random theories on the internet. not only she pleaded and tried her best to convince Zeus to remove Kratos' nightmares, she protected him throughout. It makes it more sad that one point Athena had feelings for him, and it was one of the reasons she was conflicted and couldn't choose between whether to side with him or duty with Zeus, and because of it she took the blade for herself. and not only that Kratos refused to end up his quest of vengeance which he regretted later, her father Zeus didn't show any mourning for the daughter who took his blade for herself, and ran away leaving her to die. And now Kratos only remembers her as a person who used him.
that is right, i also didn't like the way he way called himself HER monster in gow2018, giving the message that she used him as her monster for all the 23 years but it's far from truth and in reality it was only for 1/2 days. And it seems like he hates her the most out of all the gods, specially contradicting that out of all the gods he only cared about her before gow3. Regardless it's his perspective, not the truth, it has always been. it just makes it sad that for the lengths she went to protect him, ended up dead in not being able to chose between kratos & Zeus. And now Kratos only has an image of her treating him as a tool.
When he got the throne at first, he was still angry. At himself, at his fate, at the gods. He became cruel the more days and years passed. Now he accepts the throne. Like a true leader
Man, just as the camera pans out, I could vividly see Mimir with all his body, kneeling next to Kratos as he sat on that throne, had his head not been put on the arm rest.
Shame it strips your armor for the cutscene, could be a lot of possibilities. I mean I get it, he’s not sitting there as a conquering warrior, he has made peace with himself and it’s in contrast to the past time he took the throne, but would still be interesting. His starting gear, his Ragnarök armor, even the ares armor

With Odin gone, there was a power vacuum, and room for change was possible. She asked Kratos to be the new God of War, and he told her he was thinking about it. He ended up sitting on his old throne again, symbolizing that he accepts the responsibility and role of the God of War.

You see after this Valhalla, I’m pretty sure Santa Monica studios is lying about not touching Norse myths anymore. Because they literally made kratos the new Norse god of war. I think what they really meant is that they’re done with Norse mythology being the focus, we’ll still have Norse characters like freya and sindri and angrboda in the next game, but they’re gonna be on an adventure with kratos in Egypt or wherever they’re at next.
I mean Helios was the one who helped Kratos and kept whole Greece alive, but what did Kratos do? Ripped his head and used it as a flashlight. Old Kratos "regrets" killing him that's why he remembers him. Ares is like Hercules, he should have died.

She seemed fairly outraged when Kratos sacrificed himself at the end of GOW3, so throughout Ragnarök I was waiting for a twist, like if maybe Athena warned Odin about Kratos and helped the allfather to plot against him, cause she wants revenge.
Part of me wishes that Kratos would return to Greece with this new outlook. It doesn't even need to be Greece specifically, the Greek pantheon was claimed and renamed by the Romans later down the line. It'd be interesting to see Kratos return to his homeland only to find the Roman Empire in it's place.
