This is the first time I’ve ever actually been watching you on my television and then literally got on my computer in order to leave a review. And it’s just because of how great your ad was for better health. It was so honest and so real. I loved it. Just found it very wonderful. That gravitas in the middle of all the frivolity was unexpected and lovely. I’ve never left a review for an ad before-they’re generally really annoying but that one actually touched me. Cheers and good eating from Kansas!
As a KC native, nothing makes me more proud than folks getting to know us through our BBQ. When I see videos of American-style BBQ restaurants in other countries, usually its a poor imitation thats been skewed fo the tastes and flavors of that country. This looks like the real deal. That spread is so legit, I actually googled to find out when a BBQ joint opened up in the Prairie Fire district in south KC. Color me surprise to see its in London. Absolutely incredible.
Also a KC native. I would agree that we have some of the best bbq. Joe’s KC for example has the best brisket. Formerly called Oklahoma Joe’s for anyone who moved away. I’ve seen 2 hour lines to eat there.
I think it's because the fat American stereotype is explained. Lol if you don't have self control and these foods available for delivery, you can easily hit 600 lbs
Probably because we like knowing the things we grew up around can be loved by people who may not have even known about it until just then. Seeing the love and appreciation for something so close to us is a big deal. So again, it’s because our pride on our cooking and recipes can be enjoyed even outside of our own culture and we love seeing that look on their face as they take a big bite. We love making people smile with our mix of cultures over the years. We tend to be people pleasers even if just a bit. So that enjoyment makes us feel good. That and we tend to turn onto these vids to try and get that ‘first bite” feeling back a little by watching their first try. Probably both.
Food tends to unite so many different types of people, and America, due to our history as a melting pot of cultures and people, have many various dishes. Even a few greasy spoons/diners, off the beaten path. People from other countries, visiting the states for some delicious American cuisine, reinforces the nature of the country being made up of different cultures. Anyone can make it here, and anyone with a hankering, can come across the pond for a bite.
It always does my heart good to see people from other countries and/or cultures enjoying American BBQ or Southern comfort food for the first time ever. Keep up the good work, Jolly!
@@FrostyDuc I think it was Ollie from 'Jolly' here who once waggishly observed Britain built an empire on the quest for spices, then never used any in their cooking...😂
@@neuteredcow88 Well, some of us certainly do, and especially when it comes to cuisine. There's a lot of American restaurants specializing in "foreign" cuisines, even if a lot of them are adapted to accommodate American palates. I don't know where America would be without our takes on Chinese, Italian, and Mexican food, particularly. Often less than fully authentic, but certainly genuinely inspired by the originals.
Of course we used to season food don’t you know how much world-class Indian food we eat we have the best Indian food outside India. Thanks to our colonial history.
This comment is hilariously American. You know how people from the US always go on about how much of a cultural melting pot the country is? Yeah, most countries are like that, with diverse food to match. Enjoying the taste of new foods doesn't somehow mean that none of the local food tastes good 🤣
Just rewatched this. Armand’s line at the end is the best: we’ve found my crime 🤣 and Ollie’s reaction to it is so genuine. Love whenever these 4 get together.
0:23 Fun fact about that mosquito! THAT is a species called an elephant mosquito and...its literally the ONE kind of mosquito that *does not suck blood.* Most mosquitoes need blood from another creature to procreate, but that particular mosquito eats the larva and eggs of *other types of mosquitoes* instead. Also of the thousands of kinds of mosquitoes, only about 100 bite humans. Most are oddly specialized. For example, there's a kind of mosquito that only bites frogs...brave little things.

American here. It’s so fun to watch you guys indulging in and loving our food. It was a bit weird to watch you eat pulled pork without any barbecue sauce, and with a fork. About 99% of the time, we eat it on a bun, covered in sauce, usually with dill pickle slices. The corn ribs are new to me. I’ve never seen anything like that here in the US.
I don’t know why I enjoy watching our brothers from across the pond enjoying our food! It puts a smile on my face watching you guys enjoy our food! So wholesome!
I will never take the amazing BBQ we have here in the US for granted again. So many around the world have no idea what how good we have it. It's refreshing to see these guys getting to sample our incredible cuisine.
I grew up in the Midwest but moved to the UK in 1994. Although good British food is amazing, there is a pride and generosity of hand in American cooking that is too often lacking here. One friend told me she'd lived in the US for a few years and never once had a bad meal because even the lowliest greasy spoon takes pride in what they do (leaving out fast food chains of course) whereas too often places in the UK seem content to serve a mediocre meal and settle for a "That'll do" attitude. American barbecue is making some inroads here but I've never seen it done exactly right in a British establishment.
it really makes me smile, like ear to ear, to see you guys introducing american staples to your fellow brits, and watching the wonder wash over their faces as they think to themselves "Where has this been all of my life????"
One of the things missing from your "American BBQ" spread was a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on it. That is a staple for American BBQ restaurants.
They didn't have any ribs to try either. Their minds would be blown. They also need to try a garbage plate, it's not bbq, but definitely a northern state thing.
@@hezrusso380 Yeah the inclusion of the chili dog seemed odd, and the nachos kind of struck me as weird. BBQ is about the meat that is smoked for a long time, and bit about some side dishes.

We went to a McDonalds when it first came to the U.K. back in the 1970s. Having been brought up with proper British (European) table manners*, I simply couldn't get my head around a restaurant not having any cutlery. It's a long time ago now, but I'm fairly sure I asked where they kept the knives and forks (I would have been about 12 at the time). * The first time I visited the US, I was similarly fascinated how Americans said grace before a meal (something that had all but died out by that stage in the U.K., and is virtually never heard today). So, in some ways, American table manners are stricter than ours.
@@horsenuts1831American McDonald's have cutlery lmao. Saying grace also isn't incredibly common here anymore, or at the very least varies regionally. Did you go to the south?

Other than the corn ribs, most of this was pretty spot on for BBQ in the US. That's not a thing you'll find here in 99% of BBQ joints. This channel really brings me joy! As a Southerner, I'm glad the Brits enjoy our food!
Yes ma'am! We love to cook, love to eat, but really love watching other enjoy it.
This made me so hungry!
I’m going to start trying American food It looks delicious 🏴🌹
I thought Ollie's reaction to "soft fluffy buns" would be my biggest laugh, but Armand came from behind for the win! "We found my crime" 🤣🤣🤣(as an American, it really was borderline criminal 🤣)

KC native as well. In my opinion our BBQ is one of the best around
They went to the State Fair of Texas. They're at a spot in Dallas in this video.
this exact thing happened to me too! i live right near prairie fire in ks and was waiting to see if this was a new restaurant
Also a KC native. I would agree that we have some of the best bbq. Joe’s KC for example has the best brisket. Formerly called Oklahoma Joe’s for anyone who moved away. I’ve seen 2 hour lines to eat there.
Another KC native here I wondered where they were at as soon as I saw the Chiefs flag... shout out to Hawg Jaws BBQ in NKC great burnt ends
Why is it so much fun to watch Brits eating American food? This was very gratifying.
Because they call us fat, and we can point to the food and be like "see, this is why"
The whole success of the second channel Korean Englishman is about just that. It's a universal thing!
@@richardadams4928hahaha!

Yet, Americans don’t want to learn about what is outside their country
@@neuteredcow88 Well, some of us certainly do, and especially when it comes to cuisine. There's a lot of American restaurants specializing in "foreign" cuisines, even if a lot of them are adapted to accommodate American palates. I don't know where America would be without our takes on Chinese, Italian, and Mexican food, particularly. Often less than fully authentic, but certainly genuinely inspired by the originals.
4 buds enjoying good food and drinks!!!👍👍👍👍
I love that the Brits aren’t used to seasoned food, but when they try it for the first time; it’s life changing for them 😊😋
Of course we used to season food don’t you know how much world-class Indian food we eat we have the best Indian food outside India. Thanks to our colonial history.
This comment is hilariously American. You know how people from the US always go on about how much of a cultural melting pot the country is? Yeah, most countries are like that, with diverse food to match. Enjoying the taste of new foods doesn't somehow mean that none of the local food tastes good 🤣
@@phoenix-xu9xjYet it's still Indian food, not British food.

I love how they're just sharing sandwiches in their excitement for this delicious food. People don't usually share sandwiches but these guys are ALL IN and it's just so much fun to watch.
ok
I was thinking the same thing. If I was out with friends I would be cutting the sandwiches in fourths without even considering otherwise. These guys look like my toddler demanding a bite of my food.
Right
Depends on the friend group. My friends have no problems sharing bites of stuff with each other, we're all just excited for everyone to try everything.

They're representing Buc-ees so that's a big thing in the South.
Not until they've had a breakfast consisting of 4 extra large fried eggs, a pound and a half of bacon, a side of pancakes with real maple syrup, and with an m1911 in .45 ACP sitting on the table next to the plates. Oh, and with coffee.

When you get out of jail you'll have to try it in America, then. @minutemaid6768

All of you gentlemen are what the world needs more of.❤😊

I would have liked to see them do the different bases for BBQ- dry rub, ketchup, vinegar and mustard.
They didn't have any ribs to try either. Their minds would be blown. They also need to try a garbage plate, it's not bbq, but definitely a northern state thing.
And it didn't look like they had any BBQ sauce on their pulled pork, which is an even bigger shame!

BBQ is like the weekend dad-hobby of every Texan. It is our fish-n-chips, but much much more flavor. Keep up the great work guys!
But don't you think the fact that the restaurant is in London means its lack of business may come from people not knowing about it? I know if I lived in London, and knew about it, I'd want to make this place a regular stop.
