- Today we finally take our Italian chef friend, Mr.Z for Korean food and drinks! Some of you may know Mr. Z from our Jolly series where he showed us the BEST foods around Italy. Mr. Z has cooked for many big names like Beyonce, Kanye West, Drake, Anne Hathaway, Queen Elizabeth II, and now King Charles! This was a long overdue meal, but we actually had been saving it to bring some exciting news... 👀

For some reason, I almost got teary-eyed when Josh revealed they're taking Mr. Z on a food tour and Mr. Z just smiled from ear to ear. Awesome surprise for him ❤

You can tell Mr. Z wasn't kidding about his love for culture. He immediately starts immersing himself. He expresses gratitude in Korean by following Josh's lead and questions Josh turning away from him while drinking and once he learns, he starts turning away out of respect by the end of the video.
I was surprised and impressed by how quickly he picked up on the things that fly over the heads of most of the people they introduce to Korean culture and cuisine. It shows how much curiosity and care he has!
I knew he was in when he started turning his head to the side when he took a drink.
Z is the man. Dude seems very curious and studious when it comes to food and how it is intertwined with and representative of different cultures.
It's strange how the world is. In some cultures you acknowledge and look into the eyes of the people you toast with, in others it is the very thing they frown upon or the looking away is the acknowledgment . I feel in the US we don't want to understand cultural differences, we just want to shoe horn in our culture to our immigrants. It wasn't always that way, we used to be the melting pot. It's not that way anymore. Sad state. Loved the vid.
@@Efilnikufesin76sadly this is common these days. I always try to learn when I encounter people from different cultures, but I understand this is done by the minority nowadays. Normally people just gets really defensive and become unable to accept other people can be different.

The fact Mr.Z is so well travelled already but can still be so excited and appreciative of being gifted a trip to Korea says a lot about his character. The guy is great!
I think anyone should/would be excited and appreciative about a free holiday by one of their friends!
@@redeye1016I think he's also excited because as a chef, you constantly want to be challenged in a positive way on the way you're thinking about the dishes you provide and those provided around you. This trip will likely intellectually challenge how he views some dishes and that feeling, while not of my own but from my family members who own resteraunts or operate within one, is apparently one of bliss. A family friend was told by her friends that their children could not eat specific things like fried chicken due to the gluten or some aspects of traditional batter. Her goal then became, how do I make something they can eat that wont flare them up that is also just as good as a regular fried chicken experience. She seems so proud by that accomplishment. I honestly am more excited about Mr. Z potentially adding more tools to his trade and expanding his palette then anything else by this adventure. Like not excited for the series itself, but seeing him in the future following it and seeing if anything stuck out.

YES! i noticed that too!
Josh has to stop turning away when he drinks. Thats only done when you drink with someone whos a lot older than you (older generation, parents, and/or your boss.). Noone does the look away with friends. If you meet someone for hte first time, you can just do the two hands drink, and youre fine.

It's become one of my favorite things. Watching them meet someone, get closer over time and then taking them to Korea for experiences beyond anything they imagined.

Mr.Z picks things up - not just on food/flavors - but also language and behavior really quickly. Once he learned that turning away while drinking is a sign of respect, he started doing that, too. He also mimicked saying thank you and the food names in Korean. Can't wait to see him have a blast in SK! ❤😊

What separates Josh and Ollie from so many others is their genuine enjoyment of the food, of each other, and of the people they work with. It’s a beautiful thing and I can’t wait for another food tour of Korea with yet another amazing guest on the channel!

After seeing so many videos where Mr. Z. Is horrified by what they are eating, I love seeing his face light up as he tries the Korean food and drink. This food tour of Korea is going to be epic.

This is what I really enjoy about this channel. It's not just about the food as Mr. Z stated, it's about the happiness, the feelings, the atmosphere, the culture that all mixes together to create this wonderful experience. Taking Mr. Z to Korea is going to be really special, I know I'm going to love this series!
YESSS!!!!! There's just something about watching Mr. Z experiencing new foods that I absolutely love. You can just tell he loves and appreciates everything that goes into the food set in front of him. Even when he's not a fan of the new food, he's great at analyzing it and then turns it into a positive. (Even if it's just him trying to show you something BETTER than what you just gave him lol) This is going to be so much fun to witness. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I’m so glad they’re finally doing this with Mr.Z because it’s so refreshing to see a chef describe and appreciate flavours in food, and that he’s so quick to identify ingredients, cultural context, etc. But I am surprised that as a chef, he hasn’t previously immersed himself in Korean food and was unfamiliar with common Korean food items.
Tbf in my experience in the uk and I would assume Europe Korean food isn’t too common especially compared to Chinese and Japanese food

But since he seems a little well travelled chef, I figured he would have tried Korean food in America while cooking for celebrities (presumably in LA). I’m surprised London didn’t have much Korean food being a big city, I’m from Toronto and I always remember there being Korean food around growing up.
@@sylviele3239 Toronto has more East Asian food, while London has more South Asian food. England's national dish is Indian curry-based.

I love watching Mr. Z eat good food! The way he analyzes and appreciates it is evident on his face. I'm used to Josh and Ollie's little food moans, but Mr. Z doesn't just enjoy it, he understands it. So excited to see the food tour, it's going to be something special!

Mr. Z is amazing. I love how passionate he is about the Italian food, how open he is to trying new things. I love how he isn't afraid to say something is shit, or that he doesn't like it. His strongly held food opinions mean so much more when he loves something.
I notice he picked up on the bits of language very quickly and some of the customs as well (turning away). He seems like a good traveler. The story about that restaurant his first day is amazing. I can already tell I'm going to love this series.
I know hes a chef but its so fascinating how easily Mr Z identifies what ingredients are in a food and the flavors in them

Wow I actually felt stressed watching to see how he'd react to anything. You could literally hear his brain ticking away and his tastebuds analyzing everything. The food instinct is strong in that one. Did you see which drinks and food he reacted most strongly too? He liked the ones with the most distinctive Korean taste. The one you can't duplicate- ginseng wine, that cocktail, yangnyeon chicken. I am now curious wondering what Josh thinks as the best food choices. That hanwoo BBQ will be out of this world.

YES!!!! FINALLY!!!! Ever since you did the Italian tour with him on Jolly I have been WAITING for his adventure with you guys in Korean food. This will be epic, I can tell!!! It should have been planned to a certain extent, so Mr. Z could clear his schedule. It should be the same as when Buvna got taken to Korea, they should have cleared their schedules for the trip

The way he described his food journey and how for him it’s most about experiencing other cultures and giving happiness to others through cooking and food? Poetry to my ears. When he said I need to come here more often, I immediately pictured a few months later and Mr Z sitting at the bar holding court and entertaining everyone with his stories while enjoying some amazing Korean food and drink. Discovering this channel was my first few entry points to everything in the K world and I even managed to go on a trip to Seoul this year, which was fabulous. One thing a like about Mister. Z is that he can be critical without being rude. Honestly he still comes off as humble for me, even when he's sharing how he served food to all these well known people

I'm on vacation in Korea for the first time ever! It feels weird to be on this side of the world when a Korean Englishman video drops. In California, the videos are uploaded when it's 3 or 4 AM. It's about 10 PM in Korea right now. There is truly no middle ground.

I was stationed in Busan, Korea for 2 years and I have yet to find a Korean meal as good as any of the ones I had while there. I've found Soju, but ttukoboki is so hard to find. The onion pancakes.... This video, I could smell it, taste it. I miss it.
