Great comparison, i would like to know which one had more details in the video , sony or panasonic I have fx3 and canon r5 and when i compare video from both of em , the fx3 4k video always packs way more details of a face ,head hairs and features while canon r5 4k i can not seen more details .
@@cinematools I have both, I agree, most annoying thing with the S5II is the oversharpening in 6K with most profiles, also there is less details in low light, the S1 is much better outside of V-Log.
@@cinematoolswhen you say a7 IV resolves more details than the Panasonic, is that only in 4k mode or does the 4k from the A7 IV resolve more than the 6k/5.9k from Panasonic? Thanks
What is the difference between Auto-focus Continuous (AFC) and Auto-focus Single ( AFS)? .... My S5ii behaves in same way in both the modes? ... Also, in Human priority mode, it tracks human body, but if something e.g a shoulder or hand comes in the front, it will focus on the hand, even if the hand is not covering the face. This is one of the biggest drawback for keeping the face in focus.
I have both since their launch. The IBIS is so much better on the S5II, Sony is not even close. I sometimes even wonder if Sony has IBIS when I use the camera while walking ... The S5II has Open Gate and for me at least it is a big point ! Fine details are much better on the A7IV in 4K, and even compared to the 6K S5II, there is something unatural about the detail rendition of the S5II, especially when the footage is not correctly exposed. It is not only because Sony has 30MP, the old S5 and S1 have more or less the same 4K quality than the A7IV, I'd say the S5 and S1 have even better detail processing than the A7IV because there is less hiden noise reduction in low light. However If you use external RAW the video quality of the S5II is excellent. I think colors SOOC nicer on the Lumix, but like on the A7III, I use my own PP settings and both camera are very close, I even prefer the output of the Sony sometimes. And I don't know how to explain but I find the output of the Sony nicer, like if the overall rendering looks rounder, this is just my opinion but I think Lumix has a flatter rendering.
On my (Apple studio display) monitor, log with lut look totally the same. Standard (I guess Standard color profile - panasonic, and no profile - sony) , hm sony is greener, .. but I never noticed that before, unless I watch it side by side like in this video.. I own a7IV
@@cinematools The Panasonic colours seem more natural to me. I also had an A7SIII for codec comparison. Especially the LongGop codec range allows more grading space with Panasonic.
That's kind of the point though. If you're using it as a professional camera, the footage out of camera should be flatter. You can do what you want to it in post. S5 dynamic range is basically identical to the A7IV.
Sony colour too yellow and green 💚.
I think I'm seeing things, is the footage warping more at 28mm than 20mm on the panasonic
There's definitely more warping at 28mm
@@cinematools Yeah any idea why? Should be less
@@andrewb76 I would guess because the stabilization works better with wider focal lenghts
@@cinematools Yeah thats strange as it should be the opposite and others have noticed its the wider lenses that have all the warping.
@@andrewb76 maybe they fixed it in production units.

That green cast on everything is like a "brand colors"
where do you see green cast?
@@cinematools on Sony ofcourse
@@rendermanpro to be fair, it's very easy to correct it. Also, it's more noticeable because you see both cameras side by side.

Sony A7 IV resolves more details than Panasonic. FX3 is softer than A7 IV and might be similar to Panasonic.

@@cinematools Hi panasonic is not "soft" by any means, even in "zero" on V-log still super sharp.
@@dorta1812 I didn't say that it's soft. It is softer than A7 IV.

What lens was used on Panasonic? Always liked the livelier picture in this camera.
Panasonic 20-60mm F3.5-5.6

We didn't have the time to test focus modes.
We used the AFC setting for all the tests and it was very reliable.

Same observations on a calibrated display.
S5II is using A7III sensor, A7IV is literally the next gen of the Panasonic, sensor-wise at least.
That's a good point.
There's no proof of this claim. It's just repeated by UA-cam commenters with no source.
Doesn’t matter, the colors science isn’t the same.
S52 wins 👍👍
now its time for panasonic
Sony looks more natural. No magenta tint and less saturated which I like.
the video quality seems sharper on the Sony, at least in 4K
Yes, A7 IV is noticeably sharper.
that's also because the Sony a7v 4k is downsampled from 7k meanwhile the Lumix S5ii from 6k
Panasonic looks very good. I don't like Sony at all.
Interesting.
I'm using calibrated screen and they look very similar in log. Sony might tend to look a little greener but it's very easy to correct.

Сони плохо передает цвет .
Sony has a wider dynamic range and deeper image contrast. The Lumix image looks flat to me. Also no new PDAF in 1080p 50-120fps...

The 20-60mm is trash. Try it with a sigma art or the panasomic 50mm 1.8.
I prefer Panasonic colors, but Sony has much more details and a better dr.
Panasonic wins at everything but the autofocus
