RE8 is definitely a very segmented experience. None of the main antagonists really get too much time to shine. Some elements of the plot were EXTREMELY overlooked. It's definitely a solid entry from what I've seen, but there are a lot of issues, and the devs purposefully trying to make the game less scary is worrying.
that’s my biggest concern as well. reducing the horror elements for the masses is a bad move. that’s the whole point of a HORROR game. there’s literally so many first person shooters for you to play. I too am worried about what’s to come after re4r
In regards to having no emotional tie or urgency towards Rose - I remember once hearing a really good review of RE7 and they had similar complaints about Mia in that game like RE devs are like okay that's your wife. don't you care? and im like the woman who chainsawed my hand off? no! and i feel the same way during RE8. "that's your daughter!" correction - that's a bunch of polygons. they forgot to give me reasons to care 😭 also why is roses' head larger than mias in the opening everytime i see it i nearly piss
What I've gathered from the last two entries is that Capcom, I think, want to make RE an anthology series. New setting, new themes and new vibe with each instalment. I think that's a great way to go at this point. Set it all in the RE universe and just do whatever. I think it's the tenuous ties to the older games and characters that are holding it back.
I’m so glad you brought up the revealing of rose being in the jars. It’s the exact moment where i put down the game and never picked it back up. I never felt Ethan to be compelling and I don’t understand his motivation to keep collecting his dead daughter. I was done
another great video!!! i still can't believe you only half 8 and a half thousand subs. yet again you were able to capture and hold my attention while talking about a topic i'm only barely familiar with :) keep up the good work!!
Errmmmm yes, actually! remake Dino crisis 😍 with the current RE engine and maybe sort of an alien isolation style stalkers vibe (with only slightly less run and hide) it could totally work!
21:17 I felt the same way lol, to a point where I got confused as to why they built her so much to just kill her in such short notice Also I felt like Village just had all around the worst dialogue ever, specially with Heisenberg, I hated him through and through, there was nothing besides the factory, I liked from his section or he as a villain Also also, i felt like there were a lot of things they put here just to test out how they'd work for an eventual RE4r, the inventory, the upgrade system, the last boss being an arachnid just like saddler, etc etc (you also had the weird parasites from re3r which lets be honest, are just las plagas) Also also also this: "(...) and to present the spanish to gunpowder" Gotta be one of my favorite lines ever
Another banger of a video. Agree with pretty much everything you touched on. Also, having Ethan compared to Nathan Fielder has now opened my third eye and chakras into accepting this as canon. Thanks for another video!!
My main issue lies with the guns and progression. I don't even know why the upgrade system even exists when every new gun is objectively better than the last, no matter the upgrades. There's no pros and cons like re4 and 5's weapons. And aside from that, the game is so scripted, there's no time to even play with these guns. Beneviento's area removes your weapons, Moreau's area has like 7 enemies, and Heisenberg is a turret section. The last tier of guns (skorpion, svg) you'll use on like, only a dozen enemies before the final boss. The game expects you to replay it numerous times yet begins with the longest, slowest intro in the series. Ya gotta put baby to bed, go on hike, get bit, wave defense, kicked out of castle, watch survivors perish, and re-enter the castle to even feel like the game has started every damn time. Ugh.
Summed up a lot of the things that I disliked about Village. Honestly the story was the worst aspect of the game for me. Twists are so horrible, from Chris being evil to Miranda shapeshifting and shit, it feels like the game had 7 years long writing process and each part was created with 1 year break, and writers just fucking forgot what they were doing previously
Im probably in the minority here but imo while RE7 had superior presentation (graphics, music etc) the gameplay was dreadful, an extremely sluggish console fps. Add to that that in RE4/5 they understood the player character moves and aims like a grandpa (RE6 is more like a wrestling game lol) and designed the enemies accordingly. But in RE7 they twitch and hop all over the place while Ethan controls like a sack of bricks in slow motion. Spare me "git gud" sh*t, i finished the game. Fighting a games controls isnt scary. Maybe its better/smoother on PC tho, never played that version. Skipped RE8 since it promised more of the same.
@@ScottsGameAsylum Wasnt intended as direct criticism of your video :) But yeah played RE7 relatively late after release and came away feeling it was abit overhyped. Very good graphics (especially on PS4) and environment design, memorable "villains" with the Bakers and yet at the core still a somewhat average console fps. They did try something new and thats good but it seems it already got stale with RE8 again.
I didn't like RE8. This franchise has gotten so creatively bankrupt in my opinion that I'm more excited about remakes of the older games than I am about new entries.
Your videos have Succession-level density of funny creative insults. Great work!

I really like all the 4 henchmen of the game. I especially like Heisenberg. It sucks that Mother Miranda is so bad.

what a weird arguement.

Yeah me too, that's what the Revelations series was going to be
....I'd like them to remake Dino Crisis

Thank you for taking the time to watch it
That clip from the beginning of the video is just so sad yet so funny at the same time

"A mix between Kevin McCallister and my morning dookie?!" This channel does not get the credit it deserves. 😂😂
The zombie fetuses part would be great if we could return there to get some item or something

Nooooo the las plagas parasite things really caught me off guard. and made very little sense
god, you always choose the best soundtracks for your vids
It's all about those vibes. also there is a playlist in the description of the track I use in vids

Village is much better in third person
hell yeah
Scott why don’t you have 1 million subs yet?! Your hilarious! 😂
Village was the equivalent of Big Mac. Looked okay, it was.... okay? sort of. It didn't leave me feeling very satisfied either.
10:33 that was gold that was!
J'aime la soupe à l'oignon.
Onion soup troop
I agree, I agree. What can possibly beat RE6, afterall?
Forsaken music... nice!
Resident Evil Village would have been a good Van helsing remake not so much of RE title
Hope RE9 brings back zombies and B.O.W.S like the old games
Awkward Norman Osborne identity.
The opening to Village really felt done just to be sensational and "exciting" at the hefty cost of making no sense in the story...
Let's Call of Duty this bitch!
Bloody shame we never see Ethan’s face.
Heisenberg and Dimitrescu got hoed, either of them individually could have carried the game as antagonists by themselves imo

I didn't consider that. I played the game on pc so I didn't have that experience

Solid game but not my thing at all.
I'm glad I skipped this game.
