Definitely a great deck, summoning citadel whale is really easy and we can get rid of top tier decks with Diva + Infantry just like in 3:33; as you can see this deck isn't relying on SSA and not many would take the risk to run 3 copies of cosmic cyclone at any tournament; so I'm expecting this deck (or Mermail related decks) in the WCS.
It's such an awesome deck, really competitive. I got all the Genex controllers thanks to my blue eyes deck, so I think I'm going to play this one as well as soon as I get some gems.

This deck has answers against pretty much all the meta. It seems like they have put special care in not making Mermails too consistent. Some people might not realize it, but while a deck appears to be "average" or "tier 2" to the eyes of majorities, there are players that can make superb builds. Like the one Dkayed played in the last tournament 3 gale lizard + 3 lava golem + 2 econ + mask tribute to spam a monster on the field was really deadly. That's why Konami is cautious with all new releases.

Kuro Kenshin most can't, most people wouldn't even if they could. This is like a 100$ deck. It ain't even worth it even if it was the number one deck. I'd rather spend that kind of cash on real stuff

Metaphys might be a good match-up against it but average against the rest. And don't get me wrong, I love playing Metaphys, both control and Tyrant beatdown.
Using neos fusion to drop water monsters from deck to graveyard COULD work, but is not good in this archetype. We need consistence to play whales and water cards, so neos is not needed here.

Power of the Guardians, Tyrant Dragon, and any protection on Shi En with Fuma or another Six Sam on the field let's people brute force through SSA.
Old box URs are starting to be an issue, I dont really feel like digging old boxes is worth it when the most recent couple have been meta

The thing is, if that slash dragon has veen equipped with power of guardian, he will lose

Not exactly indestructable. I wiped the floor with this deck using Metaphys. Tyrant was unaffected

And don't get me wrong, I love playing Metaphys, both control and Tyrant beatdown.
Metaphys is another top tier deck. But honestly, this one is better in different situations / match-ups.
At least, when any trap in the game starts to become problematic (looking at you, TTH 👀), Metaphys Tyrant Dragon will just pop out and say "nope".
