- Ahoy fisho's! This week I go Inshore soft-baiting for Snapper at one of my favorite local spots. This trip I'm joined by good mate Jimmy Peirson from the Brisbane Bulls & Brisbane Heat Cricket teams to see if we couldn't put a bend in a rod or two. It was a classic early bird gets the worm ordeal with pre-dawn producing some awesome action, then once that tapered off we hit some shallow weed beds in search of a feed of squid! An absolutely cracking day on the water with plenty of action and laughs to be had. Thanks very much for watching, I hope you enjoy the episode!

That is absolutely epic mate! Typical Snapper, biting hard like that early! The last 3 sessions I've had now, I've got a fish on the first drop/cast, before first light.
The action on those plastics is actually awesome too, when you dragged it beside the boat I was shocked at the tail movement. Good stuff mate, even the rod holder notched up a few too hahaha! Cheers Sammy

How deep is it at that spot Sammy? I see you regard this as shallow water Snapper, but for me it looks fairly deep compared to what I would call shallow water Snapper which is 2-6m deep. But that's Melbourne for ya 🤷♂️

Not sure about the squid kill/tenderising action though. Keep working on it👍

To date what are you favourite Boga’s? Definitely purchased a few terrible ones over the years.
Nice 5 kgs first Snapper there i'm down in Geelong and that's what i chase down here plus King George Whitting and Flathead. great job there keep it up i make my own Lures too i like too send some up too try out.

Got to love those pre-dawn nibbles. Man I miss snapper fishing, can't wait until they're back on the legal target list down here.
When does the closure finish? We were down there in March and noted they were off the menu.
Might have to plan another trio back up then mate.. I know a guy 👌😉
@@terrytailor 1159pm 31 Jan 2023. Not that I'm counting down or anything haha. There are a few occasions where the South East Snapper fishery is open but it is based on a recreation fishing quota which is filled very quickly.

Haha will do mate, if you wait until the end of the video I go through all the tackle used. It’s a 10-20lb blade and tails rod and a 5000 ATC virtuous reel 👍👍

big reds look good on camera but eating they are over rated big time and yeah ive cooked them every and any way you can. Good old sand flathead or whiting are much better.
I haven’t had any problems with the bigger snapper to be honest mate 💁♂️ whiting and flatties are always going to be better, need 10x more though!

Obviously I'm from South West of WA,
I find our small snapper here 700, are soft!!!
Yeah we get them to 90-95cm. But those are considered monsters! Never had that problem with our smaller fish though 🤷♂️

20-30lb you’ll be fine mate
Yeah mate, we used 30lb on this trip. Snapper won’t bite you off, just gotta worry about them running along the reef 👍

Hey mate, it was a hero 8. It works fine with other cards, just one seems to corrupt files 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Hey Mate, Had the same problem with Hero 9. Ended up being the SD card. Changed to Samsung from SanDisk never had the issue again. Fingers crossed.
Hi sammy sick vid on reddys so there molix plastics are they want to no if they cast like a bullet i do alot of snapper off the rocks n r looking for a sick casting plastic to cover water without the big lead
Hey mate, yeah they have a fair bit of weight too them just by themselves, they cast a good distance out of the boat so definitely be worth a try 👍👍
