    Beautiful and efficient! Can I ask how you gave the natural lines a "burned" look at the end?

    Very nice! I’ve never seen someone wipe off the spray paint after spraying before. Does that even it out? I’ll have to try it next time I spray paint something! Thanks for sharing!

    I really enjoyed your video. Several years ago I decided that I wanted to make flags both large
    and small. As I am pretty handy with computers (as long as it’s a MAC) and pretty good at graphic design, I invested in a Shapeoko CNC Router. That is when I realized how stupid I am. I had no idea that I would need a degree in Bits, etc. So I hired a guy overseas to make me a template for the Union for both the large and small flags. That worked fine but what I really wanted to do was custom designs for Police Agencies and Military units. That is when I failed as the guy overseas started nickel and dimming me for design work and the many edits he needed to make for a logo. So the CNC is gone, and I still have that dream.
    So I am contemplating purchasing a xTool D1 Pro Laser cutter, I found your video and I would like to know, if you don’t mind, what the dimensions of your overall flag is and the union itself.
    The work space of this machine is 16.93 x 15.35 inch and I’m hoping that I can get back to doing what I enjoyed as Im am assuming that Laser cutting is a whole lot easier than CNC Routing.
    Thanks in advance.

      These flags that I make are 14” or 24” wide and everything else is proportionate to standard flag dimensions.

    Can you do a video about how to make a jig and set the laser in lightburn to make repeat lines and fills like in 4:45 and 8:02? hope that makes sense! Thanks

    Honestly curious, why not paint the entire flag black then laser, mask the blue line, spray blue line then done?

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  2 роки тому +3

      Time. Go set up a full engraving of a flag on the laser and see how long it will take.

      Paper masking
      Look for a laser safe option in Amazon or there are options through JPPlus and JDS

    As I put in one of your other videos. I am new to using a Laser - I have a 150W CO2 laser I got this week. I ordered a role of your masking tape through an affiliate code I saw you had on another persons comment. I saw you first paint the black field portion and then you laser out the stars and they appeared to be white. Did I see that correctly - can you laser of the paint to just show the stars underneath. How is that done if you don't mind sharing. Did a UA-cam search and can't find that answer yet.

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  2 роки тому +1

      Light coat of paint and quick speeds with just enough power to get some depth but still leave the stars a good color.

  • @scotthamel7928
    @scotthamel7928 2 роки тому

    What paint are you using? And what were your settings to do the stars thru the paint

    Do you have issues with the spray paint bleeding through beyond what’s masked?

    • @BeardedBuildsCo
      @BeardedBuildsCo  Рік тому

      Not with this process. I make sure to use a scraper card when I put the mask down and then use a light spray of paint and wipe it right off like a stain.

      These wooden flags are a facsimile, not an ACTUAL flag, therefore there isn't any type of "desecration". God Bless America from an ARMY VETERAN.
