There’s always someone out to make money at the misfortune of the buyer/seller. I took some of my inherited gold jewellery to exchange for cash a while back, being allergic to gold I saw no point in keeping it. One item, a solid engraved bangle which I was fairly sure was 21ct gold from the Middle East, the retailer refused to accept it was solid gold and only offered me a ‘generous offer’ of £12. I know for a fact that a lot of antique gold from the Middle East does not always have a hallmark. I refused his offer but sold the rest for around £350. I went to another jeweller with my late Aunt’s bangle. He pondered over it for quite a while and offered to research into it. He came back to me a few days later offering me a staggering £1,250.00 saying he already had a buyer for it lined up. I’m glad I passed on my slightly cheaper offer!! It’s always fascinating to see what comes into your store.❤️
I guess for me family heirlooms would be priceless. Unless your aunt had buckets of gold jewelry which honestly she very well could have. My families dowry was filled with gold pieces so I’m not judging you, more just curious if there pieces where special to you, or just the less loved family pieces?
@@cierahowell8653 I’ve no idea as to where the jewellery that I inherited from my aunt came from. There was all sorts of bits and pieces including just cheap junk jewellery. I only had the items bequeathed to me because they had originally been willed to my mother, who had already passed away, so my uncle gave them to me. I actually kept quite a few bits, but the gold items weren’t worth me keeping as both my daughter and I are allergic to gold. Being my aunt wasn’t really my aunt, but just a lifelong BFF of my mother’s Ive no idea of their family tree. However I do know that she and my uncle had no children of their own to inherit.
So a place that buys jewellery didnt have the means to test if it was real gold and it's purity. Hmm your story sounds like a fairytale. Also wtf is 21ct gold

Pete I think it’s shows a lot about how good of a person you are when you give people the benefit of the doubt when bringing in counterfeit jewelry. Many people would instantly assume they knew what they were doing. At the end of the day they’re kids who make bad decisions and I think it goes much further what you did than trying to call them out. what do you mean "in any case"? thats not even accurate... in one case, they might be scammers. in the other case, maybe they didnt know it was fake. its not "any case" at all, there's a case for 2 distinctly different possibilities. in any case, you dont know what "in any case" even means. in any case, peter did not buy the fake jewelry.
The kid had a very believable reply to Pete asking him where he got the bracelet! Everyone from Goodwill to Thred up sell mystery boxes of jewelry online! You get 5lbs of random jewelry in a box, some of it might be broken, most of its costume jewelry, and every once in awhile someone will get a piece of gold or silver jewelry in a mystery box! If the kid said he got it from a guy selling jewelry on a street corner, I might be more suspicious, but jewelry mystery boxes online is a pretty legit answer to where he got it from!

You can't pull a fast one on Mr Pete!! Dude knows everything!! But he's extremely fair and honest. I really respect that. He explains to people why and where. Merry Christmas buddy!!
He is very transparent about giving around 50 percent of what he would sell it for. Its very refreshing. Once you have business rates, staff costs etc the margins after selling for 'double the money' are probably pretty low. Seems fair when the pawn shops would probably give them half of that again.
My grandfather passed a few years ago and we found his camera he had in a shoe box with about 50 photos taken with it during his time in the Navy in WW2. The camera looks very similar to the one at 9:30, but IDK if it's the same brand. Anyways, it was really cool seeing pictures of him when he was stationed at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands in charge of manning the airstrip refueling planes like the B-17 and B-24 for their next mission. He said his favorite moment on that island was when a P-38 Lightning came in to be refueled. He'd never seen one in person before and thought that was the coolest plane he ever saw. RIP Grandpa.
I enjoyed the two young kids the best but to be honest, I love the whole video, it's fascinating seeing the interactions with different customers what I don't understand is why people don't think to list things for themselves on eBay - you're very open, showing them how much things go for
Not to mention the risk of eBay- a lot of new sellers run into bad “buyers” who will do things like claim they never received the item or bid on an expensive item and return it (but they won’t return the item sent, they return something else, something much cheaper- one of the worst I’ve read is a seller who sold an expensive bike frame and shipped it across the world, they got back some cheap frame that didn’t even weigh close to the frame he sent, eBay still sided with the buyer and he was out not only the frame but hundreds in shipping!!) and unfortunately for the seller, usually companies like eBay or PayPal don’t care... I sell stuff on a different site and I film everything I ship - I haven’t had any issues ... knock on wood.. also selling locally I don’t accept things like PayPal or cash app bc if you look at the fine print, if the buyer (or person who sends you money) claims they didn’t receive the goods, they refund the buyer and the sellers always seem to lose (from complaints I’ve read)- so a lot of scammers will contact ppl trying to sell locally and offer them above asking to “ship the item” and pay via PayPal bc they will get back the money and have your item 🙄 basically the burden of proof is on the person receiving the money and it seems usually the companies don’t even listen
Like how you always show folks some sales comps before making an offer (like in the lenses and Ikon camera piece.) not sure what constitutes a good lense for one of those, but Carl Zeiss is a longtime master in all things optical! Also taking time with the young folks to discuss the bracelet and never talking down or acting accusatory is beyond commendable and consummate professional. Thanks for another great video. Also - been watching and like the “new” channel as well. Many thanks for the content and happy thanksgiving to you and yours

I loved the part about the camera. I thought you said Zeiss when you were looking for indentifiers on the camera. If it is Zeiss, they are known world wide on the quality of the optics. @@dcb1138 He's laughing and smiling cause his mind just got blown that that's how much they're really worth. He's a kid and a hypebeast. Hypebeasts are notorious in the fashion community for knowing nothing about fashion yet following it and blowing tons of money on fads and fakes. You can tell him and his friends are hypebeasts from their hair nad the brands/clothes they're wearing at the time. Don't be so biased. They're just fools. I dont get how people like you can judge someone so deeply based off of nothing but your own preconceived Ideas. I'm not one to call people racist but most of the comments against these people seem racist. Just because someone is wearing streetwear, is young, and a minority does not mean they're bad people. Aside from the smile(that is so obviously him being surprised, I mean why would he smile in that situation if he was trying to scam because he's basically getting called out right then, if he was scamming) nobody has been able to point out ANYTHING suspicious about them at all.
@@scordova98 this is such a wonderful comment. I also really think they were just kids who didn’t know anything. AND, If they WERE trying to scam, the way he handled the situation could have changed their lives. I know that sounds weird but one person treating you with respect and giving you the benefit of the doubt can really impact a young person.
I love how you inform them about their stuff and even show them on ebay sold and other sites.
Enjoyed the Cartier Love Bracelet segment......really have to be careful when buying secondhand designer jewelry
So true! thx for watching :)
be even more carefull about these "mystery boxes" they sell online !!! he probably bought a box full of junk for 50€ with the promise he can double his money when reselling ! i remember buying 2x mystery boxes full of video game peripherals and it contained only extension cables, gamestop controllers and a bunch of other junk i literally threw away days later

In your business you really have to be ahead of the game! I guess that is why you are still in business! Thanks for sharing your most educational experiences.

My man bringing in some jewelry from DHgate.
and proceeded to get grilled by Pete about how it was a knockoff 😂
I think it was Wish

@@AV-nf5hx Yes, it seemed like those kids did not know if it was real or not.
New vinyl plank flooring would make your store look great!
Or strip and polish the concrete.
I'm addicted to your channel. Even got some stuff from you off ebay!
I could NOT run a pawn shop. Many customers would be banned and told to pound sand and I'd eventually go out of business.
When he said “I’ll give you $90” and the guy immediately said “I’ll take it” I bet he wished he would have said $75 😂
Guy was a total crackhead. Couldn’t stop moving.
Seems like Pete was doing all the negotiating there lol
Other than the micro-meters, which may or may not get Pete his money back, all those others tools were homeowner-level junk. The derelict was lucky to get $90.
Yeah and that guy was jonesing like crazy, he couldn’t stop his nose from running - he would have taken anything that he could use to score a bag.
@@piercehubbard4086I noticed that immediately too and came searching the comments to see if anyone else did
There’s always someone out to make money at the misfortune of the buyer/seller.
Wow! good call.
I guess for me family heirlooms would be priceless. Unless your aunt had buckets of gold jewelry which honestly she very well could have. My families dowry was filled with gold pieces so I’m not judging you, more just curious if there pieces where special to you, or just the less loved family pieces?
@@cierahowell8653
I’ve no idea as to where the jewellery that I inherited from my aunt came from.
Imagine what the 350 you sold to him was truly worth if he offered 12 for something worth 1.2k....by tht metric it could've been 35 grand
Lol... I thought the old lady was trying to scam him, I was like NO! NOT GRANDMA! You never know, the elderly can be shifty sometimes. My grandma use to pretend she had dementia to shoplift from Home Goods, she would put two products in one package. I was so embarrassed I would threaten to leave her at the store after I caught her..
I miss my grandma she was a rebel.
yeah misleading thumbnail + title
LMAO
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That made me laugh.
Is that the same lady that brought in a NEW box of newspapers and some watch from a OUTLET mall and it was fake ?
Times must really be tough the way people will bring almost anything laying around their house thinking it has value. I enjoy how you educate them without talking down to them, love watching the daily interactions you have with customers...keep up the good work!
That’s bidenomics at work! Got a first hand seat to witness it in action! 😊😊😊
This a perfect show of a genuine trader showing the sellers that he will only make so much on a product.. pure respect to this man …
That camera, I bet a guy would like it for "steam punk" or maybe a "movie prop" I sold something to the propmaster on the hit TV show SWAT. These prop masters don't even care if the thing works, they just want it for a prop.
Those little cretins knew they brought in a fake. The app they purchased it from was Wish. As always, Pete, you have the patience of a saint.
I was thinking Wish, too
I for sure thought the same thing- they knew it was counterfeit (wish he would use the correct term- reproduction is legal, counterfeit is illegal- and it was counterfeit) and thought they could pull one over on Joe Schmo pawn shop guy 🤣
it wasn't wish, quit pretending like you know everything dude. You're being prejudiced and hateful. You clearly have a bias and think all people are bad people. Just because they look like street kids doesnt mean they're bad people. What about them screams that they're scamming? that they're young? that they're wearing streetwear? that they're minorities? which is it because nobody has given me a valid reason yet. They more than likely didn't know. I spent a decade of my life working in the fashion and music industries and I met people(idiots) like this all the time. They weren't trying to scam him. They may have had a hunch it was fake but they probably thought that even fakes had value. He's just some kid that's into streetwear and is a hypebeast(you can tell both of them are hypebeasts from the way they're dressed and the hair). The app he bought it off of is called Grailed(it's the app hypebeasts always use to buy clothes and designer stuff from). Hypebeasts are well known to know basically nothing about fashion yet have a total obsession with buying whatever is "cool" or popular at the time. He brought it in probably because in his mind it was only a couple hundred bucks worth otherwise why would he have gotten it in a 50$ grab bag from grailed? He also clearly knows nothing about fashion because even though grailed itself is a reliable website anyone who knows anything knows that 100% of the grab bags are bs. That smile is because he realized how much the real deal is really worth and it blew his mind. Dont be such a biased, judgmental and rude/mean person. They're kids who dont know shit about shit and have a kid's mentality, so judging them by your standards and your mentality is just stupid.
@@candicecart9786 look at my other comment. You're being biased.

In any case, maybe they did think it was legit I’m not sure how after paying $50 but still. Happy thanksgiving.
what do you mean "in any case"? thats not even accurate... in one case, they might be scammers. in the other case, maybe they didnt know it was fake. its not "any case" at all, there's a case for 2 distinctly different possibilities. in any case, you dont know what "in any case" even means. in any case, peter did not buy the fake jewelry.
You never know, 15yrs ago I was addicted to heroin and I would steal anything that wasn't nailed down, and I would sell it cheap just to get rid of it and get some money, you don't even know how many times I've sold stuff worth $2000 for $50 just to get the drugs and not be sick
Why is he a good person for checking if its legit. Isn't that normal. Or should he just judge people on how they look or what.
@@I_am_me8560 He said an app, I know what kind of mystery boxes he bought. Basically 1 out of a thousand has something worthwhile. It’s like gambling.

You can't pull a fast one on Mr Pete!! Dude knows everything!! But he's extremely fair and honest. I really respect that. He explains to people why and where. Merry Christmas buddy!!
I would love to have that camera. Cannot believe you got it for so cheap.
Shame for the seller
I like how he shows the people what everything goes for
He is very transparent about giving around 50 percent of what he would sell it for.
I enjoyed the two young kids the best
but to be honest, I love the whole video, it's fascinating seeing the interactions with different customers
what I don't understand is why people don't think to list things for themselves on eBay - you're very open, showing them how much things go for
Posting and selling on eBay can take forever. If you are selling 5 things on ebY it can take months or years
Not to mention the risk of eBay- a lot of new sellers run into bad “buyers” who will do things like claim they never received the item or bid on an expensive item and return it (but they won’t return the item sent, they return something else, something much cheaper- one of the worst I’ve read is a seller who sold an expensive bike frame and shipped it across the world, they got back some cheap frame that didn’t even weigh close to the frame he sent, eBay still sided with the buyer and he was out not only the frame but hundreds in shipping!!) and unfortunately for the seller, usually companies like eBay or PayPal don’t care...
@@candicecart9786 I guess that not being an ebay seller I never realised the pitfalls. Thanks
