I love how the guy just keeps pressing buttons as if it'll just magically start working. And $1000 for that POS is absolutely insane.
Certain people believe they can use an item for 10 years, beat it up, neglect it, and resell it for the same price they paid for it. And these same people refuse to quickly clean the item they're selling as "like new" like they're doing you a favor for selling at such a low price. I see it all the time on Facebook marketplace.
"I purchased this computer in 2008 and upgraded the GPU in 2015. In total I spent $2000 w/ taxes and I'm only asking $1950. Now lowball offers, I know what I got."

I see it all the time and its like, the whole point of a garage sale is supposed to be unloading the stuff you no longer want at a big discount. Actually that was a different model. The only reason I know that is because I literally found the karate kid model while dumpster diving in a salvation army dumpster. It was in near flawless condition and worked perfectly.
Sold it in 2 days for almost $250.00. Salvation Army Army didn't even try to sell it for $5.00.

I have been selling all my life, but I can't imagine owning a pawn shop and having to deal with the aggravation of people constantly arguing with you to buy their items. I'm sure at some point it can get pretty confrontational in that line of business. I would either have security in the building or arm myself to the teeth. Maybe train Ruby and Honey to be attack bird and cat :)

Reminds me of this one time I was looking at cars at a super shady place in town only bc they had a sweet Porsche 911. The salesman goes in to get the keys, then does an entire line of coke thick as a pencil, off his desk right in full view of the parking lot. He runs out, jumps in and tries to crank the car. It doesn't even turn over. I'm speechless, backing towards my car at this point. Desperately he tries cranking it again. Nothing. When he tries a third time, he shouts out the open door, "HEY WAIT! LOOK! IT STARTED! VROOOOM VROOOOOOM VROOOOOOOOOM!!"
I went a long time ago to a used lot, the salesman was showing me a car, then said, “keep your money, all used car lots sell junk. What they can’t sell goes to auction, I’m quitting this job end of day. Cant rip people off. I said thanks and went back to private like I’ve always done before. Private, usually from original owner with record history receipts and low miles.
@@froglobster well I got my car from a used lot. Only one previous owner and 60k miles. Haven't had a single problem so far driving it for the last 10k miles. Sure they probably do mostly sell junk, but as long as you know what you're looking for, you can get a good deal.

I used to work on these vintage lasonic boomboxes. They are really easy to work on..if you can get parts for them, and reasonably. The 975 would easily fetch $650 plus on ebay, if in mint working condition, but still could be less if market for them is down. I would have offered the guy $75 too, with all the problems it has.

I love clocks and watches, Pete. My Dad (96 years old now) after he graduated from high school, went to Waltham, Mass. to watchmaking school around 1942. He graduated with the highest marks back then. Not sure if the school is still there now as most of the watches today are disposable. He had his business in our home called Mitchell's Watch Repair, and i have grown up with clocks on the wall that he had repaired. All kinds, I especially remember the cuckoo clock that played every half hour and the rectangular marble one with the lions heads on each end. I've always wanted to have a clock wall with all kinds of rare clocks hanging and chiming. Call me crazy, but i do love them..lol.
And its people like that will give you a bad name. They'll tell everyone how much you tried to "rip them off"
to be fair, there were items that he bought for 30, 40 dollars and sold them for 400, 500.. which is kinda a rip off. The whole idea of a pawn shop is a rip off.

It's crazy the pawn shop by me I take something in that was working and they won't even give me $20 for it and it sells on eBay for $200-$250. I don't want the liability of shipping such a large item and they don't want it. Meanwhile Pete is willing to give a guy closed to 50% of it's eBay price and the guy doesn't want to take it. I don't get it.
