What I've learned from watching your show is that it takes way more patience than I possess. On one hand, it's like being a bartender because 1/2 the people will tell you their life story given a chance. On the other hand, you have the drunks and scammers, and the guys who are jammed up on something. Then you have the honest guys who think their items are worth a zillion, and get offended when you politely decline. But I guess there are probably more good people than bad. Happy holidays, everyone.
I get people who send stuff that they make or sale to promote their brand, but I will never understand those who send gifts for no reason. You’ll pass homeless in the streets without acknowledgment, but spend money to send a well-off business owner a gift. Crazy to me.
Maybe some people want their names mentioned in a video. Doesn’t make much sense to me, either. Or, I bet there are folks who’ve watched Pete’s videos for years and consider him a friend. Anyway, they might give to the homeless,as well; you don’t know that.

Love the episode. I’m actually pretty shocked that you’re actually making sales instead of buying because most of your videos are of you buying from people and not selling to people.
Does anyone here know how he filters between sold items and listed items on EBay? How does he filter between what people have listed, and what people actually paid for the item?
Just a security concern about the new series going on the road. Im not sure if the locations are going to be as safe as the shop. Whether you are in similar cctv covered areas like in shopping malls but carrying a bunch of money around kinda makes you a target. Hopefully you have thought about this and have ways to mitigate the risk.
2:55 Hey Pete. I have a couple Louis Vuitton wallets. I heard your comment about the tag inside. They do not always have a tag inside. Especially the bifold cardholder types. Nor do they have a type of “serial number”. However you’re correct on the construction. The way the edges are finished, the absolute perfection of the stitching, the symmetry of the entire item, the fitting of the various pieces. The construction and assembly definitely give it away in reference to real or fake. I can send you pictures of the things I’m saying if you’d like. Just wanted to note there isn’t always a tag or serial number affixed to the wallets and cardholders. And as I say, proof of purchase is king as there ARE some really nice fakes. (I will also say the bag and the box are not quite as awe-inspiring as the leather good itself. Those two items have never made me think “this is top tier quality.)
Pete you need to invest in one of them metal detecting guns, so instead of grinding away at stuff, it will just scan what ever metal it is and tell you exactly what kind of metal it is, and how pure it is also, just a suggestion
Those things are way too expensive for the little bit of precious metal pete deals in. He's not buying and selling 1000s of dollars in metals in which case it'd be worth it
@ yeah that’s a good point, but he may actually buy a lot more gold and silver off camera that he doesn’t film idk 🤷🏻♂️ but yeah if he doesn’t deal too much in it, then your right it wouldn’t be worth buying one
It's very common for people to cover a cheap metal in gold to fake it. And that completely fools those extremely expensive metal detectors because those only can look a tiny bit deep. If you watch other pawn shop/metal youtube channels they literally cut or make a massive gash in every piece they buy, even if the detector says it's 20k or whatever. And they find a ton of well made fakes.
@@josephgood2704 That's also an indicator for other shops if they ever rebuy that same piece, it helps other shops know it's real because it was tested before. Only in rare cases do pieces get retested.
I thought the announcement was going to be a change in the channel’s name. Since it no longer really has anything to do with Craigslist and you’re basically just giving Craigslist free advertising by keeping it named Craigslist Hunter with no upside for you. Think about it, may be perfect timing, New Year new name. Either way I’ll keep tuning in 👍🏼

Hello Peter, I enjoy your videos very much. I had a 2nd hand and music store in the late 90s...one of the things that would drive me crazy would be, when negotiating with a seller, someone in the store would come up and offer more than my offer to the seller. I would then get agitated and let that person know how inappropriate that was and there had been a time or two that the argumentative ones were banned from the store...How would you handle this situation? just curious...Thank You. Dave from Eastern WA state
Pete has a calm way of dealing with people like that. That's why HE''s still in business, and you're not. It takes a special person to deal with the public.
Dave, a No Soliciting sign on the door solves the whole problem. Remember, soliciting's definition includes the purchase of goods and/or services. Hard to have a leg to stand on when there's a sign before they even walk in.
