Two things. If memory serves me correctly ARTC upgraded and gauge converted the Oaklands - Benalla line in the early 2000s. Look like no maintenance has occurred since. One of the NSW railway preservation societies ran a diesel railcar right out to Oaklands a year or two after the gauge conversion.
there has been some mimimal maintenance, including a pointless concrete sleeper upgrade just a bit down from yarrawonga station, in mulwala ( the upgrading destroyed the dirt road nearby), and there has been the replacement of some wooden sleepers with comcrete ones between st james and tungamah, every 3rd sleeper or smth
Nice video I was up there 4 days prior to both relax and to see the train. When my older brother saw the train, he was disappointed with how there was an N Class leading.
i reckon i saw you at yarrawonga when it arrived, i was standing at the silos under the loading point. were you at the end of the grass mound extension of the platform?
N451 looks so unfitting for that train it should have been T357! The N set cars should have never on the train! It should have been all of the original 1937 spirit progress cars!>:(
great video max really amazing
cheers

Yeah, I think two FL classes took the Southern Aurora on an excursion up there at some point too.
@@DivergentRailwaysthat was anzac day 2015, i remember being there watching it arrive

Nice footage
Fantastic video Max, looks like it would have been a great trip to chase. One of the few lines i haven't got much footage of

A few years back it would have been very rare to see a V/Line asset on a heritage train...
Nice work! Very enjoyable. 😊
The n class diesel looks so boring! It should have been a Victorian railways T class diesel!

Not 100% sure exactly where I was as I was indecisive on the night so I reckon the video clip will give you the best hint.
@@DivergentRailways if i recall correctly, you were the one who was standing past the grass, then you moved up onto it. how was chasing the train?
Very easy compared to when it was going around 110km/hr earlier, how about you?
@@DivergentRailways nah, i didnt chase the train, only filmed it at yarrawonga. part of the front wheel of my bike is visible in the final shot!
That track at around the 15min mark ... what a disgrace
Its a good video all the da same
Why you name it spirit of Yarrawonga ..there isnt a train call that
Wasn't my name, it was SRHC's name.
It’s a disgrace how the government maintains railways throughout the state. Too busy with projects that make money for the CMFEU
I'd love to the New South Wales government reopen there oaklands line from boree creek to oaklands as it would make a good cross country line!
