Hey guys, happy Sunday! ☀️ As I mentioned in the video, I will be getting back to a more regular youtube posting schedule, so if there’s anything you want me to talk about or teach in the upcoming weeks, please let me know!
Oh, and for any of you guys about to buy a bunch of art supplies for school, go use my coupon code BianaBova1 at Arteza.com (handy lil link for you in the description box) to get 10% off your order ✨
Thanks for watching and I’ll see you soon!
Glad to see you back :) Couly you maybe do a video on the fear f starting final pieces even after planning them? I'm struggling with it especially because I'm traditionally.
@@komorebi3803 Yeah, that's a great video idea! Thank you!! :D
for gouache; get a small spray bottle & spray water on your paint to keep it moist & it also helps to work in smaller areas, you get a more patchy rough shaded look instead of nice smooth flat shading but I find it adds a certain charm that you can only get with gouache. I personally I like to mix my paint on freezer paper or palette paper, it nonabsorbent & cheap, keeps everything fresh for a long time.
Freezer paper....now THAT is a tip I've never heard before! Thanks for the advice! :D
u should try blue blocker glasses! it makes looking at screens a lot easier on the eyes :)
Does it work the same if you use blue light filter?
Ok thank you for commenting this cause I literally was at the eye doctor a day or two before this video came out! I heard that they're a good option, but do you know how much it affects your perception of color? I asked my eye doctor about that and she says she can't tell a difference, but I'm a little skeptical. D;
I’m a graphic design student and I swear they are the best! I don’t have to take my glasses off and put my head down in the middle of class from headaches anymore and they havnt effected the way I see colors! 10/10 would recommend!
Hey I’m starting at mass art in September and I am freaking out slightly but your videos talking about art school have really helped me out the past year so thank you!
I'm so glad I could help! And congrats on going to Massart, I know you're gonna have a great time ;D
Sounds like you need a rest. You need to rest and take care of yourself so you will be able to do you job. If you dont, you will get a burnout or something:) be kind to yourself!!!
Use the tea to butter method with gouache, and work big to small (IMO). And then midtones first, then darks, then lights. This is what works for me, and I learned in my illustration class how to use gouache, and I was lucky enough to start with the best there is, Holbein.
Yes, a vending machine for plants! Not a fan of Home Despot either. I have been working with black paper too. It freaks me out but I love it. Love your pieces and your style-just awesome! Congratulations on winning the contest and NatGeo UK! That is plenty!
So much relateable stuff! i'm a graduate from an art school... and yeah after you graduate you arrived at this big black hole called... 'the real world'
The void is equal parts exciting and expensive 😅😂
You're making so many beautiful things!
Yay! So happy to see you back! Been missing your content! ❤️
Congrats and I’m so glad you’re back! I love your style so much 🧡🧡
Thank you thank you!!!
i LOVE the vending machine so much! gorgeous.
You are just amazing!
Thank you!!!
Ahhh I’ve missed your videos! 💕
Missed u too!
Been a fan for about 3 years now since I went to my first NPD, honestly helped me get into so many schools like RIT, Moore, Mica, and so many others. I went to two and I wasn't prepared for either of them, barely met any of the requirements because I got so damn lazy, but seriously that video helped beyond belief and probably using those tips got me in- literally I met 1/4th for RIT, got accepted on the spot w/o question. Best moment
im so glad youre back! id love to see videos about your overall artschool experience or freelance life, im entering my junior year of art school and im at that stage where im worrying about my future and everything and thesis and graduating and i just feel like not enough people talk about that kind of stuff on here
Oh god yeah, I can do videos on that for sure! Obviously I'll talk more about it in a future video, but I do want to say that thesis isn't nearly as scary as it looks. For me at least, it just felt like I was turning in personal projects every other week. 🤷♀️ You're gonna look back on it and be like what the heck was I so worried about 😂
I looove Guadalupe!🤗🤗👏🏾👏🏾
I'll let her know! 😂
Hey I’m going into my second year of Massart and this video calmed me down so much. I’ve been feeling a similar kind of guilt with not doing enough to further my art for next school year. Anyway thanks so much for the honesty and good luck❤️❤️
I'm so glad this video helped! (lord knows the comment section is keeping me calm--so glad I'm not alone in this D; ) Lots of luck to you too!
For your other gouache, get some ‘stay wet’ paper. Soak it, put it in the bottom of your mixing palette, cover with freezer paper and it will keep gouache and acrylic fresh for hours. Use a flat, airtight container for your palette and you can keep it good for weeks. Just keep rewetting. HTH
If you need a break, why not do a ‘staycation’ in your new place for 2 weeks? Cheap, time out, you’ll get to know your area and you can gather ideas with some fun exploring and sketching. 2 weeks holiday is way less guilt inducing. That’s what I did and it really helped.
M8..... so far you’ve mentioned both of my 2 fav artists??? Chris Hong AND Kelsey Beckett. I think we’re soul mates.
Hi Biana! New subscriber here. I have been binge watching your art school videos these past couple of days. I just graduated this June and am heading off to the Academy of Art University in San Francisco as an illustration major. I know that you majored in illustration and I want to know if this is a major that is suitable for an aspiring concept artist, like myself. Would another route suit me better? I know that illustration is a very broad major, but some confirmation from a graduate would be awesome! Thank you.
Hey i've loved your channel for a while and im curious how you navigated your way from highschool into art school (and stay stable?) I'm still in highschool but i've been debating art school
❤️❤️❤️
Hey so I'm going into my second semester at the Hartford Art School (Spring Semester Freshman), think you can make a video of supplies I should stock up on beforehand? Or maybe just respond back? I'm taking 2-D, 3D, 4-D (still no idea what it actually is, HAS students are arrogant to anyone involved with the music students, go UHart!) and Foundation Drawing 1. Tbh I just wanna stock up now while I'm home and all the sales are on since we start so damn late at UHart, you can imagine since you went to UConn for a bit
Congrats on getting into art school! I know freshman year is kinda intimidating, which is why I created a few videos that might help you out:
1) What's freshman year at art school like? ua-cam.com/video/3C-XFW4wWiE/v-deo.html
2) What I wish I knew before starting art school ua-cam.com/video/3C-XFW4wWiE/v-deo.html
3) The ultimate charcoal tutorial ua-cam.com/video/ZN7Bp10O7zQ/v-deo.html
Charcoal supplies are a must--get yourself some 18x24" drawing pads, 18x24" newsprint pads, and a variety of charcoal supplies. (There's other stuff I mentioned in the videos I listed, but that would be redundant). Back when I was in school, I would email my professors a few weeks in advance and ask them if I could see the supply list in advance. Also, subscribe to art store's email lists (jerry's artarama and blick for example) to get updates when things are on sale.
Good luck!
I feel the same way about Home Depot lol.
I'm traumatized by my dad dragging my brother and I there every Saturday 😖
you draw sooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooood
Thank you so much!!
Advice: Dont whip your back. dont punish yourself. tell yourself "you can do it". keep eyes open for opportunity in the strangest smallest places.
