Thank you so much to Wix for sponsoring this video! Today, I'll be discussing every possible thing you need/want to know about creating your own art portfolio website including: why you need an art portfolio website, what makes a good-and bad-art portfolio website, and how to make the website yourself. I'll be using my old (ugly, terrible, atrocious) website as an example of what-not-to-do and I'll be showing off my new website. I'll also be answering popular website-related questions such as, "Do I need to include my resume?" and, "What if I have two different styles/portfolios?" This video is my best attempt at helping every artist-regardless of medium, subject matter, or experience-create a professional art portfolio website.
I'm honestly so relieved that Wix reached out to me when they did because Y I K E S my old website needed a revamp!! It's important that your website reflects you as an artist, not just in what images you choose to share online, but also the general branding and design. And...mine no longer fit those requirements 😬 But it's okay, my website is now super-fresh, very "me," and is ready to attract some clients 😤
    Time stamps!

Hey guys, happy Friday! I'm super excited to be sharing this video with you, since this topic of "how to build an art portfolio website" has been on my video to-do list for like...a couple years now 😅 I adore all the artists I've shown in this video, and if you have the time, I highly recommend checking them out yourself! Their art is great, their bonus content is incredible, and the aesthetics are sooo satisfying ☺️ Thank you for watching and I hope you have an amazing day 💕

This is such a great video, so a lil comment for the algorithm so it gets further ✨
I’m a jewelry design student, haven’t set up my website yet, but I’ll be keeping all this in mind when I do and probably using wix since it looks great honestly 💕

Hey! Idk if you're going to see this but I was wondering if you could make a video for applying to non-art school school portfolio tips. Most of the portfolio videos I've come across are for 'art schools' specifically and since you studied at a non-art school too it'd be great help if you could give away some portfolio tips, what the unis want and all that. Thanxx in advance!

Thank you for the video, it’s very helpful! I’ve been finding myself combing through your videos a lot lately and they’ve all been very encouraging so thank you! I always had a weird impression of the idea of relying on Instagram for jobs anyway, I only like posting there when I feel really proud of something. I do have a few questions though.
    - I agree that websites are necessary for jobs, but are they needed for high school students applying to schools or do we make them when we’re in college?
    - I honestly don’t know what I plan to do post-secondary, but one of my options is to pursue a different career and maybe do art as a side thing. Because I may not become a full-time artist, would a website still be necessary and would I go about building it the same way?

Thank you!! I'm so glad you're enjoying my vids! ;U; As for your questions: 1) College applications don't require a website, and I don't believe all colleges force their students to make one either. /My/ college, on the other hand (Massart), did require it for illustration seniors. It was treated like a class assignment, so we got advice from our professor and did class critiques (which were very helpful!) 2) My personal goal is to become a full-time artist, so I have my website up to attract any and all potential clients! If your main career requires you having a website for that work (for example, if you start your own clothing line) then I'd build two separate websites so that the two businesses don't clash/compete. The art portfolio website would still look like any other art portfolio website, though if you want it to reference your other work, you could potentially link your "career" website in your about section as if to say, "If you want to check out my other work, click here!" Sorry if that all sounds vague 😅 But basically, it never hurts to have an art portfolio website and you can decide how best to go about it when the time comes 👍
